Okay so here’s a new screen printing video where I try to give some advice on an age old question I am asked quite often. How many prints will a gall or quart of ink make? That question is difficult to answer. There are many variables which affect ink consumption. So, take a coffee break and watch this short video in which I give you my humble opinion on the matter. Here’s a secret tip, if you’re not making money screen printing it’s most likely not that you’re printing too much ink. It’s probably something else. I kept track of how many screens I coated with a gallon of my emulsion. 1 and 1. Mostly 156’s and some 230’s. It ended up being between .90 to a dollar per screen
Yup. That may be a little different in that we should be coating the screens with a similar amount of emulsion depending on mesh counts. Lower mesh counts naturally hold more emulsion. But with ink it may be hard to predict how much ink you might print until you start printing. So if we were doing white on black on a job big enough we may see how many prints you get per gallon or quart for that particular design. That might help gauge the next job. Thanks for watching!
