    Dude! I just found your channel and I am loving it! Reminds me of the show "Good Eats" with Alton Brown. So much amazing info. I can say the Cannon Pixma ix6820 is a great printer.

    Got this suggestion n clicked just to see wtf screen printing is lol.
    But gotta say man, this video is golden. Quick n easy showing you all the steps without turning it into a shitty normie "how to" video like the 1mil+ subs channels do it. Even giving advice on how to apply it to start your own hustle.
    Some random dude could seriously watch this 10min video, buy the equipment & supplies needed, apply the steps mentioned, and have an operational business going that one perhaps could survive off during hard times lol. Good stuff! subd

      Thanks! Happy to provide the info needed to get started. Printing is my side hustle, and talking about printing is just a hobby at this point, haha.

    a heat gun works pretty good for one color at the beginning too...

    • @joshisterrific
      @joshisterrific  2 роки тому

      yeah, I would say if you're only doing 1 color prints a heat gun is ok in the beginning, but if you're printing multiple colors it can be a real pain. I started with a heat gun and when I upgraded to a flash everything cured so much better.

    Hey Josh, new subscriber here - you have some great videos!
    So, for new UA-camrs with low subscribers, how would you recommend starting to offer merch? Do you have merch and if not, may I ask why you have decided not to offer it? Thanks in advance!

    Love the video, very insightful! but what beginner has 5k just relaxing to throw at something

    • @joshisterrific
      @joshisterrific  Рік тому

      True, I didn't have 5k when I started so I went the DIY route. I didn't buy everything at once. Just buy 1 or 2 things to get started, sell some shirts and buy the rest later.

    • @stereo-soulsoundsystem5070
      @stereo-soulsoundsystem5070 Рік тому

      @@joshisterrific I can respect that. What do you think the wisest thing to build first would be? Also if you have some relatively "complex" designs, is the DIY still possible? I made some designs and may have let my 'artistic vision' exceed my abilities haha. My designs are kinda wild. Also long pant. What is the secret to that dark magic printing process?

    • @joshisterrific
      @joshisterrific  Рік тому +1

      @@stereo-soulsoundsystem5070 probably an exposure unit. You can build one for as cheap as $50, and I bet there's a few videos on UA-cam on how to do that. It would be difficult to get fine details on a unit like that though, so if you go that route I would try simple designs first to get that experience.

    From a commercial screen printer perspective.
    A RIP is not needed, and there are cheaper options.
    IF you value your time, or employees time, a RIP is needed and pays for itself within a day or 2.
    If it is a hobby, a RIP is no needed, but if you sell the shirts, it's a must. .

    • @joshisterrific
      @joshisterrific  2 роки тому

      Yeah, I think this sums it up. I got by for a long time without one. It makes things easier, but I only REALLY needed it for specific purposes.

    whats the app for the pantone colors that u are using in the start of the video?

    • @joshisterrific

      Not an app but a website for ink mixing formulas for FN Ink, from Ryonet. www.fn.ink/pages/fn-ink-mixing-system

  • @automaton111

    That’s a fvkcTON of money to invest in making cheap T-shirts. Maybe if you’re doing expensive fine art. Very labor intensive on top of it all, and you need to pay for the physical space to store and operate it. You will have to seriously bust your azz to break even. Yikes.

    Soon as you said $2200 i was out....but great video

    • @joshisterrific
      @joshisterrific  Рік тому

      $2200 would be the bare minimum for a fully functional print studio, however you can absolutely start for less and eventually upgrade your equipment. Buy a 1-color press, use a heat gun to cure, use your bathroom as a dark room and a bathtub as a washout booth. More affordable, but not ideal.
