Thank you for posting this! My husband was ready to fork over $700+ for a new dryer, because ours stopped tumbling. I was definitely NOT ready to let go of that much money! Took less than a minute to find your video, five minutes to watch it, three minutes to convince hubs to let me pop open the top of the dryer and... Show him the broken belt! Ha! 10 minutes to save us so much money!
    Thanks again!

@@natethegreat974 I wouldn't want to buy any of these new dryers now with all the BS electronics to fail.
They are made so cheaply now. Planned obsolescence.
We still have our Kenmore 80 Series washer and dryer.
I've repaired the washer 2 or 3 times, all just replacing the brakes and once doing a fluid change on the transmission.
These machines are so easy to fix and easy to get parts for.
These new ones.... OH HELLLLL NO! LOL 😁

This is literally the best most raw and helpful video about fixing a dryer. I was just down there and would have never really understood how to put on the tensioner but you definitely helped with that low angle.
Make a comeback and keep doing tutorials.

This morning I had a load of wet clothes and the drum didn’t want to move. It wasn’t a belt issue, but your video helped me to know how to get the front panel off my dryer, so I was able to clean the 36 years of gunk built up on the rubber wheels in the back. Belt and motor were fine! Dryer is working again! Thank you!

Thank you for adding this. Most of the repair videos I have seen show the belt tensioner having the belt go around an extra wheel. This is the first video I have seen of the belt winding around a solid spring. Much appreciated!

Thank you for this video. My dryer does not have a belt pulley with a white plastic wheel which all the other videos I watched had. When I opened up my dryer I thought my belt pulley had lost the white wheel! Luckily, I came across your video which uses the same belt pulley style as my dryer's. I was able to install my new dryer belt thanks to you.

Thank you so much! This video helped save me probably about $125. (Maybe more.) I am not a very good handy man but lately I gotten sick of paying someone $100 to $200 to fix things when the part costs $23.00 (w shipping taking up most of it.) So, I've been giving fix-it thing around the house a try. It took me less than a half hour. The biggest problem I had was disconnecting the electrical connector-harness. It was stuck and I also think there are two small plastic elevated guards the click-in and hold it in place. I really had to lightly bend and twist this. This took up most of my time and it really got a little frustrating. I also would give the guts of the dryer a good cleaning. On a good note, will also probably find about $4 to $5 dollars in change lying below the drum when you take off the front panel. Well, thank you again for your very detailed video. I could not have done it without you. Best!

Thank you for letting your people know that the belt itself needs to go on a certain way, with the grooves facing the drum. Mine didn't come with that part of the instruction. Again, thanks for that small (albeit, rather large) reminder! I upped your video, yeah!!
NOTE: your working with a 70 series which has the spring tentioner. the 80 series like mine have the extra wheel that clicks onto the motor along with the belt, remember to check and see if the wheel is stationed where it needs to be,, so the roller stays in place.

I doubt the belt is mean to ride directly on the metal pulley tensioner plate. It might run for a bit, but I bet dollars to donuts that the friction will wear that new belt in no time. My guess is the original plastic pulley bearings wore out and the pulley melted the plastic wheel pulley (with bearing) off the tensioner shaft. This is what happened to mine. I believe the reason you saw no pulley wheel is that is in melted pieces buried in the crap accumulated at the bottom of your drier. Also probably the reason you had to pull the heck out of the belt to get in on motor pulley.

Thank you. My dryer sits in my back porch under the awning. It's dusty but it's still working. It's clean on the inside.

Is the belt supposed to have a twist in it? I don't think it should be twisted but mine has one like yours.&

@@natethegreat974 that's what I thought but every time I try to put it on I end up with a twist. My brain is failing me, please help

All I'm doing is wrapping it around the drive pulley straight back to the tensioner pulley so I don't see how I'm ending up with the darn twist. L O L

@@natethegreat974 Oh, Its You!!! Thanks for the reply and I just watched it again but I was mistaken. Yours does not appear to have the twist that I had. The tensioner on your machine is much different than mine but your method better shows how to install the belt.
