    awesome video man, i have been fixing shit from watching videos on youtube for years and you gave more useful info in 1 minute and 53 seconds than i have gotten from other videos that where half an hour. I wish i could have you translate some truck repair videos for me because they have 20 minutes of fuckery and then maybe a minute worth of knowledge. Hats off to you man, you literally saved me money, time, and a headache so you got a new subscriber out of me and i will have to go through your other videos. Thanks again.

    What an excellent, detailed, concise video! A couple of notes:
    At 1:00, we see the idler pulley and the bracket that holds it. This bracket is thin-gauge metal, designed to flex and impose tension on the belt. It's basically a leaf spring in addition to a bracket.
    At 1:10, we see this bracket reinserted into the bottom of the dryer and the proper belt configuration with respect to the pulley and motor shaft. The tension on the belt pulls the pulley close enough to the motor shaft to thread the belt onto it, and it also holds the bracket down onto the dryer base. I found it worked best to install the bracket loosely, line up the drum, loop the belt around the drum, thread the belt over the idler pulley, then thread the belt onto the motor shaft.
    A second pair of arms always helps.

      What a terrible video, it jump at the most important part. If it was such a good video, you would need 3 paragraphs of notes! 🤦‍♂️

    • @robw9435
      @robw9435 14 днів тому

      @@latitude1904 The white, round, plastic part shown at 1:04 is the idler pulley. (The video calls it a roller.) The bracket (video calls it a roller guide) is the gray, metal piece that holds the idler pulley. The purpose of the idler pulley is is to pull the belt tight, which is why the bracket is like a spring, pulling its part of the belt to the left. I hope this helps.

  • @kelanorfirewing

    This video helped me out tremendously. Also I wanted to pass along this bit of info. If you open up your dryer to find your belt heavily frayed or snapped, make sure you measure the belt and count the number of "ribs" and inside "grooves" on the flip side of the belt. My belt measured 92.25" long and had 4 "ribs" and 3 "grooves" inside those ribs. On lowes website they only had like 3 generic belts to replace the dryer belt, when i went on walmart's website they had several dozen belts that allowed me to get exactly the belt i needed. The one I found on walmart's website that fit mine perfectly was a 92" belt with 4 ribs and 3 grooves and .25" wide. (most like .25" stretching from age on the length.) Measurements matter, make sure you measure before you buy. Too loose it might fall off again, too tight and your belt might snap.

    Usually if the drum is not going round is because the belt has snapped. I can remember my Grandma's old Hotpoint Reversomatic Super Deluxe Time Delay 9336 tumble dryer did that when me and my mum were lodging there and they tried to do the washing in it and the drum wouldn't go round but the motor was working. Even more so when the motor stopped it would slow down fast which proved the belt was off. The repair man came fixed it and successfully got it working again. But then it kept breaking down in the end he couldn't mend it anymore my grandparents bought a new dryer a Hotpoint TDL32. But then they didn't like it as it didn't have the same features so they gave it to my Mum and bought a Hotpoint TDL34. The Hotpoint 9336 went in the garage for a while as my uncle said he would try and mend it himself but he never got round to it. In the end it went down the scrapyard. I'm still on the lookout for that dryer. It is my favourite Hotpoint of all time. I just recently bought a Servis Caress M2010 tumble dryer which is my other favourite dryer of all time as my father And his then partner Way had that dryer when I was very little along with a Indesit washer. Those were only there for a little bit they got rid of them right a d sold that House. Before those two they had a Zanussi washing machine with a broken door handle and they had to use a knife and spoon to get the door open.
