The resin used in this video was mixed bed resin. You certainly know what you are talking about and I am glad there are people about like you willing to take the time to reply and comment on these video's.
A conventional water softener is just cation resin. To produce spot free rinse you need a mixbed resin and that consists of cation and anion. Cation in the H form regenerated with hydrochloric acid and anion in the OH form regenerated with caustic. Regeneration a home softener with salt puts the cation in the Na from. Christopher, I am CEO of a company called NuWater USA. We are a manufacture of Ion Exchange resin and cartridges. You video inspired me because there is a need for people to know and understand Ion exchange resins and there capabilities. Starting tomorrow I am going to do a few instructional videos just for you and your followers.
Very helpful info. I watch many BRS, Reef supply company because the do tests on DI resin, ROs filters, etc... Cloraming pre filter for an RO was an eye opener. Yeah, not many window folks know much about or exactly what resin does exactly. Pre Filter before Di or not, spots at 0 ppm....maybe silica. Few actually test their area water to see what is in it. I know chlorine levels can affect the DI and later on the regen if recycled.
Just finished my first 25L bag of resin which I purchased last June 2017...so it's lasted over a year. ..good value. ..using rainwater here in Cornwall. ..searching for my nxt bag which most retail for around £80 ish. ...
andrew armstrong I'm using rainwater here in Wales. A sack is lasting 2 years, 6 months a fill of the DI . Trouble is this dry spell has depleted my rain water so I've had to go onto tap water for the first time in nearly 10 years, I'm going through resin like mad.
Tim Hancock ...interesting, still on the same bag here which is 13 months. ..got enough for one more fill, also no rain for a month or so...All Butts empty so using tap water. ..See how it goes....Awaiting rain here in Cornwall 😉
Hi John, it depends on how hard your water is. You can check this on-line for your area. If it's soft water, then it will last a lot longer. If you don't use your WFP system much, this will also make it last a long time. I live in a soft water area and my resin lasts for months though I only do the tops of the houses with it. I trad the bottoms.
Hi John, you can get a DI vessel which would come complete with resin inside from Windowcleaningwarehouse or Cleaning Spot. These are the two I tend to use.You will need the 11ltr one to be able to get the water right.
Hi Chris unfortunatley i live in a hard water area I would only be using it for my own home and would not be looking to use in commercial application. can you recommend somewhere where i could source the kit i would need many thanks John
I am thinking on buying one of these. The plastic filter that goes IN the vessel seems to have wide openings, is there another filter that keeps the resin in the vessel and not letting it come off with the running water? Great video.
Bought a di tank and made my own watefed pole. Cleaned windows but with a brand new system it still left little marks. This is after washing the frame, then washing the windows three times. Virgin resin leaving watermarks. I don't get it. I wonder if my brush is only drizzling water and not shooting it in jets if that makes a difference. your reply greatly appreciated. 😊
Sorry for late reply - computer problems. If its the first time you have cleaned the windows with this system, then it can leave spots and runs for the first couple of times or so. All that is happening is that the pure water is drawing all of the dirt from all the nooks and crannies in the frames etc.
Hi Chris how long would that vessel last i am thinking of getting a waterfed pole system to use at home fed up of going up and down the ladder lol many thanks John
Hi Chris, where do you buy your resin.. No cleaning suppliers sell it locally for me. Are there any places that would sell locally? I'm trying to avoid shipping costs.
@oiyabastard Hi, if youre on the internet, you should find most window cleaning outlets will stock it. Its expensive mind, but its worth it. Dont forget, if your water is too hard it might pay to get a RO (reverse osmosis) system.
I leave my tube in, just put a finger from a rubber glove over the top to stop the di's going inside then fill it up. remove the glove finger and screw on the top.
Hi my friend where it's say's in and out on your di vessel it doesn't on mine I took it up and plugged it in to the tap one side put the water out the bottom filter and the other side put it out the top filter can you help me
@@MyWagga I took up the plunger from the bottle just to see plugging it in from both sides one side pushing it out the bottom and the other side the top🙈
Yes 000 is the best you can get, it's brilliant. As long as the tds remains under about 20ppm, then you need never worry ever. You are doing all the right things but you could check the TDS meter with tap water just in case. It will shoot up in the hundreds if you are in a hard water area.
So you put the inside components of your water purifier on the dirty ground outside your house... don't assume that it can just filter out bacteria and viruses...

Maybe something wrong with the filter. Should not let any resin out.

im in america , where do you buy resin? whats the cost?

+Jay man Are you in the UK? If so, Window Cleaning Warehouse send out their resin with free shipping. If you are in the US, it might be different.

Thanks for the video Christopher. Very much appreciated :)
Your very welcome Frosty
@doaanarchyable Glad you liked it! In fact, I just re-filled mine today and it's back to 000 ppm which is great.
Thanks for sharing.
How come these beads aren't regenerated like a conventional water softener?
I leave my tube in, just put a finger from a rubber glove over the top to stop the di's going inside then fill it up. remove the glove finger and screw on the top.
How do you dispose of the old resin Christopher?
I just throw mine in a bag and chuck it in the rubbish bin
That's totally brilliant! Thank you so much for this I appreciate all the help I can get.
I change every 3 weeks live in Norfolk water containmented
Is that mixed bed resin in that bag? How much is it?
Yes. I usually get the Unger one from Window cleaning warehouse. It's about £90
What type of resin do you use? Product label or name of the type of resin?
Eric Coffman It's the Unger one at the moment
Hi my friend where it's say's in and out on your di vessel it doesn't on mine I took it up and plugged it in to the tap one side put the water out the bottom filter and the other side put it out the top filter can you help me

Where did you get the vessel & resin please
Window cleaning warehouse but you might do better on ebay. Go for an 11ltr one.
It's a pleasure coolhandxxx hope it helps a lot :)
Is that Anion or Cation Resin? Thanks mate
To be honest I don't know. It works great though!
@antonsb It's for window cleaning, nothing else......

I have no idea to be honest. All I know is that it works for as long as it does, even longer with two DI's, then you have to replace it.
