100%. Without watching Asmon react to DM's Immortal content, I don't know that I'd have discovered him. I often disagree with him on things, but suggesting that what he does doesn't help creators he reacts to nor is transformative content is such a cooked take.

You see someone like DM who is successful because of Asmon but you dont see the other 90% that he just leeches off of. Ill give you an example... the classic wow hardcore channel he leeched off of EVERY SINGLE DAY his reactions got 4x the views or more and that channel got nothing out of it and is probably now dead. He quite literally sucked all the views onto his channel he also provides NOTHING to twitch he just parasitizes content like Hasanabi while making millions spreading hate and division for no reason. He makes a point of sending his audience to the channels he's watching, especially if they're smaller channels. The amount of really small channels that suddenly shoot up in viewers because Asmongold was their gateway to discovering them is notable.

      @idiosyncrasy7703 6 місяців тому +4

@@ekio3572 not really. Act man approved of his reactions so he continued doing it for some time. After act man made a video about react content, including asmon, he expressed how he kinda changed his mind and would not want his videos to be reacted to if possible. So Asmon stopped, not one act man video reaction since. All creators have to do to make him stop is tell him to stop and he will, yet no one outside of act man stops him.
You know why? Because it's beneficial to them at their size. Act man's channel has grown a decent size so maybe the reactions take views away from him instead of add, but smaller youtubers have no shot of getting the views they are getting if not for Asmon reacting to them. You can't deny the fact that he brings views to smaller channels that would never, in 100 years, get that amount of views, and they know it.
Some even openly bait him to watch their videos by making him an object of the video, i.e. the recent fan art made of asmon, or the dude who made a soulslike with asmon as a character. How can you see this and still think he's a vulture for these people when they're the ones trying to get his attention so he can react to them?

Idk, I don't really watch him, but this whole story got me curious to see his reaction stuff first-hand, and from what I see, he's among a small group of reactors you could lodge the "reaction content lazy" accusation at, and it doesn't really stick all that well.

Asmon talks out of one side of his mouth, and then does what ever is convenient and easy because hes naturally that lazy with the other. 99% of people NEVER go to the original video to watch it after their favorite streamer already reacted to it. As a matter of fact, they are more likely to go back to the reactor and give them ANOTHER view instead of the original. When you realize Asmon is just a lazy guy whose gonna take the easiest route to content creation possible, his content and stances on said content make alot more sense.

As far as react content goes asmon's not the kind of streamer that made his bread on it and is just a way to unwind a bit from the monotony of gaming. But I guarantee you none of those reactions gave him more viewership than him playing wow or monhun or whatever he streams. And your argument's so fcking braindead I could staple something similar to every content creator, since they're all streaming videogames made by others to gain views or some other stupid ass theorem where they benefit from the work of others and they're lazy. Streaming is basically the viewer seeing the streamer experiencing content made by others no matter which content it is, so unless you hate streamers as a whole this argument is pointless.

The vast majority of people do not sub to the creators these low effort react Andy's are reacting to. Sure, they may see a small spike in growth short term, but for Asmongold in the long term the benefits are massive.
Those creators are spending loads of time and effort pushing out these videos, and this guy sits there watches it, has a few bad takes and doubles, triples, sometimes quadruples the viewership. That creator sees a short influx of subs, a fraction of a fraction of Asmongolds viewer base might I add, but they result in very little engagement in the long run. Where as Asmongold contues to farm other people and Garner more engagement because he's now become a pseudo-variety channel thanks to other people's hard work.
He helps smaller creators get a few hundred bucks over a few weeks, sure, but that very quickly falls off. While he's making thousands if not more while also **maintaining** that viewership. Multiply that by the number of creators a day he's reacting to, and you begin to see a bit of an issue. It's just shitty, period.

@@ofmoosenmenI have subbed to 4 people that Asmon has reacted to at some point in time. DarthMicrotransaction TV, The Act Man, Lucy Pyre and Josh Strife Hayes.
Josh Strife Hayes has said on many occasions that Asmon ramped up his viewerbase and at the time of Diablo Immortal's peak, he was constantly getting people even tune in to his stream in order to say they were introduced via Asmon.
Lucy Pyre has gotten so many people from Asmon turn up tonher twitch that she actually requests that you don't turn up in her twitch chat and mention it because it happens so often.
The Act Man was already pretty big but even he has mentioned that Asmons reactions have impacted his growth positively. He says that any time this topic is brought up.
You speak for people that actively support him and have nothing but praise as if they are negatively impacted when in fact they receive so much growth that the notoriously small trickle from UA-cam to Twitch is not only noticeable but consistent.
Its valid to criticise react content when it is used to exploit and/or does not credit or transform the original content.
It is disingenuous - a bold faced lie even, to try and claim that the growth they receive is short lived when it is so clearly evident to anyone that spends any time in the communities of those he reacts to, that it has had an impact. The creators themselves say so.
You trying to argue that the people themselves are wrong because you believe the benefits to short lived is audacious as all hell.
You are clearly not a fan of Asmons or any of the creators he reacts to because the crossover in viewership both on YT and other platforms is so prevalent that itd unmissable.
In short, from my experience as someone who has absolutely been introduced to creators I would have otherwise not seen, who is in the communities you try to claim aren't affected much and see what you are attempting to dismis or downplay, you're full of baseless assumptions, accusation, and shit, in an attempt to seem more factual than you actually are.

Asmon consistently puts more content into his reactions than the original videos. He is an example of what reactions should be. He doesn't even skip their sponsors like most do. "in the corner shaking his head" is just a blatant lie.

I see Asmon as a news channel nowadays.
If the topic interests me, I'll go and see the video on it's home channel.
He always adds the source in a visible manner, you don't even need to click on "show more"

To me there's a very big difference between big creators reacting to content without providing the source of said content, and then reacting and making very clear WHO they are reacting to, so the viewer can easily find either the video or the creator. The latter being the one that respects the artist they react to.

@@yourconscience.6697 Its not that black and white and you know it. Sure, if its video that already has a reach and dont benefit much from being reacted to, then i see the point, but smaller creators have become bigger due to the react meta and thus made a proper career out of content creation.. simply due to being reacted to.
The only react channels i have a real problem with, are the ones that simply watch the video and nods their head while also not providing the source of the content they are reacting to.
Also your point "You are still only reacting" is not feasible in all cases. "Good" reaction videos are the ones in which the person reacts to a video that is somewhat relevant to them from which they can extend the talk by adding their own informed opinions etc. Like Asmongold usually do. On the flipside you have people like SSSniperwolf.

I believe the comparison was made regarding the talking about AI using other people creation as basis to a new product without the consent of the owner (and Asmon fallacy about if it's public anyone can use it) and how he works which it seems to be alike (usually most that does reaction just do it and leave a contact email for the owner reach out if they want to be removed on the description + the original link).
On that for AI training purpose, the data must be bought/have direct consent of the owner before usage, USA usually have shitty laws that don't care about privacy or user data and on some level he seems to think that the standard just because murica/gicachad/whateverTheMemeIs.

Most of the terms of service I bothered reading in social media signups specifically state that any images or content you upload to the platform is the platforms to use, usually citing marketing purposes. Besides, by having any sort of feed, you were already agreeing for the platform to redistribute that content.
It sure would be great if everyone respected copyright properly, but we're all tacitly agreeing to forfeit privacy and distributive control by using these platforms.

@@HolographicThoughts yeah but countries like Brazil and most of Europe, the ToS doesn't matter, it's what the law states and we have a few that protects the owner (lgpd and gpdr) the only thing close to that is the PCI for credit card that USA has. Usually (meta for example ) would rather pay a fee (billions even) than follow the law.
