realistically the restaurants throw away 100x more food than any person
Depending on the restaurant.. I worked at Zel's Roast Beef when I was 15 and at the end of the night we would put the hotdogs and roastbeef that was left on the steam table into the cooler. The next day we would reuse that food and most of the time the hotdogs and roastbeef had a green color to it. Just slap some condiments on there and you'd never know that we were potentially poisoning you.

My answer would have been:
"Well, if I don't eat this food, it's not like it magically gets donated to charity. And they couldn't even take it, because it's prepared food."
There are some laws that could be changed to make it easier to donate food, but there's already plenty of food going to charity.
People are NOT starving in America. There's a ton of problems in that country, access to food is not one of them.
Now, access to housing, on the other hand....

Some people (like me xD) can't tell the difference between fresh pizza and microwaved pizza, so I don't care if my pizza is 2 days old, tastes the same to me, but others just can't eat microwaved pizza. We have an excess of food and a production capability far beyond what we need for ourselves, yet it still doesn't go to help people in places where food is scarce. If the demand goes down, i.e. if people purchase less food then the supply will naturally also go down by companies decreasing their production.
The issue with people throwing food away is because of the climate and certain environmental factors, not because it would have gone to starving people. There is no economical incentive to send food, resources or help to people in need.
Exactly, it’s an issue of transportation and infrastructure, not of food waste.

Food bank would have to throw it away though. The same food safety standards apply to the banks as they do to the restaurants. Food banks regularly have to dispose of tons of food that people donate because they're unsafe to eat. Hence why food banks insist on sealed foods.

Its because of hygiene, i worked at mcdonalds for a year and i was in charge with the detritus... I can assure you, even a homeless would NOT WANT to risk a serious disease by eating leftovers, the food is "programmed" to be eaten in less than 30 min, and actually after 10 we're supposed to throw it because it can cause food poisonning. There is 0 food preservatives so you can't let it out for too long , once its cooked, you NEED to eat it right away or its over. These big companies are not throwing food for the sake of it, they do this because if they didn't they would be accused of mass attempted murder for letting you consume a time out product. The real thing people should care about is why they make these foods so fragile, even your homecooked meal will stay in better condition once cooked and cold.

OK but actually,
Wasting food from a fast food chain is a non issue. The food at McDonald's or KFC was NEVER on any potential track to go to Africa to feed starving children. It's on a completely different supply chain, and people are way too small minded to see that.
The argument that it uses up resources that could have went to other supply chains is also wrong. The supply will adapt to demand, if fast food ends up using more resources because of waste the suppliers will simply increase the size of their operation and supply more.
It has zero impact on world hunger. It has an extremely minor cost to the nation economy, as the labor and industry that is covering the excess supply could have been used elsewhere, ie opportunity cost. But that is the only actual negative affect of wasting food.
Also, I find it pretty hypocritical to say such things because those people are watching UA-cam short instead of fighting world hunger themselves. I bet those people don't even help their own parents when asked.

Processed food will go bad long before it reach starving people. Food waste is a problem for sure, the way to combat it is to make rich westerners pay more for it while subsidizing food for poorer nations. This doesn't take into account inequalities within a nation of course.
