No 1440p display is great for me I don't care about VR. With 1080p display you get more battery, slightly less heat, and can put the phone costs down bit more too.

Well if you're coming from a phone with 1440p, life gets very hard without it.

They are most probably making profit with the 128gb model. At $479 they are offering pretty good stuff. Don't know why but people are expecting everything at a low price. It's their choice if they want to spend more to get more with other devices but Oneplus also has to grow, they can't just give every phone with almost everything at the same 299-349$ price every year.
In my country op5 64/6 gb variant is almost $320 cheaper than 64/4gb S8
Bharat Mahajan if people are smart they could buy Samsung s7 edge, HTC 10 or LG g6 for the same or lesser price rather than buying this Chinese clone. never settle was their mantra which is ultimately faded away ,just my opinion
Kunal Tiku HTC 10'would have been great but no volte, g6 at 35k INR right now is very much a Better option in my book
dkimmortal G6 is not better, it's the bestest option. Thing is people are not thinking smartly n they are just getting carried away by the hype that one plus n most of the biased OP reviewers have created.

Great review! I like that you even included photo comparisons in this video. Many have pointed out that the obvious shortcomings, but we do have to see and understand that many phones also lack many of the options that SG8 has. So I guess it's more of a thing of preference. You have gained a new subscriber.

The Bluetooth 5.0 dual speaker pairing feature doesn't work yet because Android 7.x doesn't support it. The S8 can do it because Samsung built their own software feature for it probably so people wouldn't get confused as to why the main headlining feature of 5.0 doesn't work yet on their new compatible phone.
is there any major cons with it exept for (maybe) not a quad hd display and no water resistance?

designwise I would say they combined the oppo r 11/iPhone and an old HTC one s. the way the edges are designed remind me of that old mid range smartphone. I loved it. :D
I just got the oneplus 3T about 3 months ago..I don't think this is enough of a upgrade to switch just yet. Might wait until the next one!

I think a lot of reviewers are being harsh with the phone and saying it has an ok camera but i think it has an excellent camera.
Considered, it only comes second after the pixel and iPhone this is saying a lot.

So, should I buy the Samsung s7 or oneplus 5t? They are pretty much the same price. I was going to get it today at Best Buy but have to wait a couple days to get it. Anyways, which one should I get for $475? I truly appreciate any positive and honest feedback. Thanks.
OMG Danny Winget. There are so many reviews out there for the OnePlus 5, but yours kept it simple and on point. You have pretty much sold me on the OnePlus 5. The only thing is, I wonder how support is. I don't expect support like HTC or Samsung, but what can I expect? I know that OnePlus partners with a company that has a 2-year damage coverage for $139. P.S. I've never had a phone long enough for there to be a problem (except for a slide-out phone that fell apart). My problem usually happens when I use the GPS on my older phones, before too long, the battery dies or it locks up using more apps. Thoughts?

Wait how did you get Project Fi working on this phone? Don't you need a Pixel/Nexus for the dynamic carrier switching or whatever?

I agree, that they should still have added Quad HD and at least some type of water resistance. They better fix that on the next one.
Can also let us tht is op5 camera gives better photos/videos as compared to op 3t or is it same, or a downgrade?
It's nice but there's a few things I wished it had that it didn't. I think I'm going to go ahead and wait for that Pixel 2. The XZ premium is looking pretty good too. It's been mopping the floor with everything in speed tests. Total beast.
Danny the Bluetooth 5.0 implementation for android isn't ready yet. If you watched Gary's explanation, you would know why! For some reasons, Samsung had tricks to sorta work it out its own!
is this phone unlocked? can i put it on att network? can i just take out my iphone 7 plus sim and put it in this device?
why are people surprised that the oneplus 5 and oppo r11 have similar designs when they're sister companies? that's also how oneplus got to use the IMX398, which sony made exclusively for oppo.
does still photography use eis or is just for videos?

bluetooth BLE 5.0 was never meant for an audio playback or even large file transfer instead a bluetooth classic 3.0 does

Playing audio to 2 devices at once isn't a feature of bluetooth 5.0, it is a Samsung specific thing. MKBHD was wrong

1080p for the money is just a deal-breaker for me personally
I don't know ounce you use a 2k phone it's hard to go back to 1080p or even the 750p on iPhone and I have an iPhone too.
Awesome shirt! Dilla. Great review as usual. I personally think the 3t has a better design. Oneplus 5 is a let down. I mean you can't deny the 7+ aesthetic. I rather spend $450 on a Sony xz. Keep the content coming bro.
The 3.5mm audio jack sound output is way better than the iPhone 7's! Definitely :P

I want the extra ram, increases the longevity of your phone by a long shot, so annoying the major manufacturers aren't adapting and only ended up putting 4gb in their "flagship" devices...
Is really hope they Will fix the dual speaker thing, why else would you want bluetooth 5.0...
I don't like the fact that there is no expandable memory for a lot of the new smart phones coming out now. Why isn't that a bigger issue for others?
the camera killed it for me, everything seems great but I use my camera frequent enough to the point that it matters. Hopefully the Pixel 2 will offer the same performance + an amazing camera

Danny did the OP5 give you lags and latencies when accessing apps, playing games, freesing or even sudden re-start?
+carlos lorenzo no lags but yes on the restarts happened until this last software update. Fixed it all for me.

sound like a great phone, my nexus 6p is still going strong, if I was in the market for a new phone this would be my choice! That starting price is great! I dont understand paying 700 or more for a phone. I dont need waterproof or wireless charging and it still has a great looking display. Thanks for the vid! I will keep OnePlus on my to get list in the future
+digitalpins yeah the 6P is great if you haven't had any long terms issues. Stock Android is still the way to go. The OnePlus software is so close and I hope they improve updates to squash the negative backlash they have had on supporting past devices. OP5 is super solid for under $500

can you make 16:9 photos? because in every video i see a 16:9 video, but a 4:3 photo (just like apple....). I saw 16:9 in pro mode, but does it come with the normal photos?

Without considering money at all, should I get an s8 or oneplus5 ? Considering all the shit in s8 like the bixby button, and the fingerprint sensor right next to the camera. And oneplus5 is also a near stock android experience. Thanks a lot, my heads gonna blow from the confusion, would like a bit of opinions before I buy either of them. Thanks :D

I just feel what made OnePlus phones special, was that they delivered a great overall experience for a low price. Now that they are entering a higher price range, they are losing what differentiates them from the rest of the market. However, the OnePlus 5 is still solid, just not exceptional.
compare it with huawei honor 8 pro, honor 9 and xiaomi mi6. please!!!

Samsung S8 can be found for 550€ on Amazon... that's my main issue with the One plus 5. it's too expensive. I'll keep my Nexus 5 for another year.
it is a great phone but honestly nearly noone actually needs such a beast of a smartphone. I owned the One Plus One but the Microphone broke so I had to buy a different phone and a friend of mine showed me his Xiaomi Phone and honestly they are amazing.
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 costs 150€ and performance wise has all that you need. The only downside is the camera imo. If the camera is very Important to you you will have to spend more.
