I think you all are missing the point here -- he meant, they had this phone all this time, but they kept reporting on leaks as if they hadn't seen what it looked like.
I know they had embargos. Reporting on leaks were fine in the case of the s8 or upcoming iphone 8. As they didnt drop the full reviews till about a week after the launch event.
Reporting on leaks one day and then dropping the full detailed review the next day seemed a little hypocritical.
But then this is a volume business and they should report on every purported leak to reel in more viewers i guess...
If ZTE offer the same price as the Axon 7 was last year, then it'll be king of the mid-range market I reckon, OnePlus are really pushing their luck with their faithful customers, especially when you consider their customer service.
I'd be surprised if ZTE doesn't price creep too, but it'll all depend on what kind of progress we see.

Juan, how would you compare the 5 to "proper" flagships thus far, not considering the price difference. I ask this since in my country, the 3 and 3T are more expensive than an S7 and equalling the G6. Given the current trend, the 5 might cost about 100 dollars more than an S8. I am very much curious to see if it stands on its feet without considering the price, in your opinion.

I'm gonna keep my 1+3, 6gb of ram alone, probably has me set for at least another 2 years, with or without custom roms *depending on 1+. They made such a great phone, I don't see the justification on upgrading this year..

I love my Google pixel 5 inch which I had for 6 month tried out the Samsung s8 for a weeks didn't like and sold it . The reception around this OnePlus 5 is good there are some advantages I see it have over the pixel. I like straight forward phone's with smooth response experience inofensive design software and hardware . would you Juan say the one plus 5 is better phone to consider .I should wait for the next gen pixel or Andy Rubin phone the essential

It's slower, but seems to be less invasive on battery and data use. I HATE facebook, so it's a decent option for me for what little FB use I have to suffer through.
Is it worth getting the 8gb ram of this phone? Or 6gb is more than enough?? My daily use consists of youtube videos/podcasts, whatsapp, camera, facebook and email. No games at all.

I used to pick up a new phone every 6 or so months but since I got a Axon 7, I'm not rushing into anything else. was hyped on this but outside of Ram its not super special at all.

Looks like the OnePlus 'tick tock' is a real thing. I understand OnePlus's rationale behind the price jump from the 3, but the 5 offers little to justify it. When the competition is offering waterproofing, class leading low light cameras, incredible displays, multiple day battery life, 'PC Modes', and excellent DACs and speakers for slightly more (or in many cases, the same price), how is OnePlus supposed to compete? This isn't terrible like the 2, but it feels like OnePlus is giving up it's biggest advantage.

Love One Plus and their products, but this design just bugs me. The 3T was simply a better value proposition. I'll stick with my Pixel XL for the better camera, similar performance and better screen as my android phone of choice.

I've got one of these and can't believe how fantastic these phones are for the money - There's nothing I miss and I've had water resistant phones, phones w/ wireless charging, expandable storage etc in the past.
I've never once dropped a phone in water, and I haven't used wireless charging on my past 3 phones that have all had the feature.
Wait i don't understand. Did Apple refined the iPhone 7 Plus? Why don't they call it iPhone 7s Plus instead of iClonePlus 5

The pure black software on this phone is so gorgeous, simple yet elegant. I want it, reminds me of old Windows Phone and the oled display and black bezels to blend make it even better.

how much does this phone cost?
I ordered mine yesterday in the early drop and it gets delivered tomorrow for no extra change. That proves OnePlus is upping its customer service game. I wouldn't have minded an iPhone 7 Plus, but it is £320 more expensive than the OnePlus 5 for the equivalent storage. THREE HUNDRED AND TWENTY QUID. It's the simplest decision I've made on tech this year.
Just purchased mine, getting it Friday. Willing to give up things from my S7, including camera performance (I have a DSLR) and water resistance (Otterbox makes a case for the OP5) for a super fast, bloat-free, and long lasting experience.
It is a SNAPPY phone for sure.

1080P screen in a 2017 flagship phone are u kidding me?? LG has had 1440P since the G3 back in 2014 thats 3 years behind comon.
Joel Bell 1080p is fine for flagships, but only for the small flagships smaller than 5.5" where 4K is my standard.

Mac Taylor I'd like to know too because I wouldn't mind trying it and see if it's a worthy upgrade from my pixel XL. However, I did some minor search at the bands and the Verizon spectrums, looks like it will most likely not work.
Yeah, you are right on "The Verge" review they said it still does not work on Verizon or Sprint. Guess I'll just have to wait for the Pixel 2

This phone is tempting to get. It would be a good budget phone to have, while giving iPhone and Samsung a few more years to innovate more; until they reach that threshold of design, when other phones can reach the standard that these two companies have set.
2k+ screen resolution, dual cameras, infinite displays, and waterproofing all together in a phone is rather new and I'm sure iPhone and Samsung while expand on this concept more in their next phone iterations.
Until usb-c thunderbolt, 4k displays becomes cheaper and standard across tv, laptops, monitors, and phones, I think we can still be satisfy with what OnePlus 5 offers.
I didn't know OnePlus 2 won't be getting an Android N upgrade, that's disappointing.
How about comparing it to htc U11, or even better the OP 5T & htc U11 plus.😋
Well, i can already see the Oneplus 5T with SD836 that qualcomm just announced in about 6-7Months, and then the 3 and 3T will also be Obsolete like my OP2...

The price isn't quite as low as it used to be. It's starting at $480, which is pretty close to the flagships they're meant to be killing, like the G6.
