4:38 4k video stabilization now available with new Oxygen 4.5.7. if it hasn't released in your country yet download oxygen updater app from play store and check availability. Works with both rooted and non rooted phones. 👍🏻
Immanuel Kant Yeah IMO it is right now the best value for money in the top category. Maybe the LG G6 is a contender, since the price has dropped, but the hardware in that is older. The camera is clearly better in the G6.
5:20 When did OnePlus say there's a fix coming for the jelly issue? They've said they're investigating it but there's been no announcement of a fix. They have, however, said there's a fix coming for the 4k stabilisation which you didn't mention.
For me, personally, performance is THE deciding factor. And ever since the OP3, no other device has even managed to match OnePlus devices in pure performance, not even the Pixels. The iPhone 7 is slightly faster in certain aspects, but I would never use a iOS device. I can pretty much afford any device, so price is never the issue, although I do consider the value I get for the money I pay. I'd take the better performer over a slightly better camera or a marginally better display, every time. As of today, the OP 5 is the fastest, snappiest device on the market. Easy pick.
I couldn't agree more. My work requires me to have instantaneous access to 3 resource demanding apps. I can't afford reloads. They cost me money. My Samsung (S7 Edge) and LG (V10 & V20) suffered from relatively poor (for me) RAM management. My OP5 8GB kit knows my critical apps and hasn't as much as hiccuped yet. At this rate, my OP5 will have paid for itself in it's first month of service. My phone doesn't seem to be affected by the jelly effect, but even if it was, the stellar performance would more than offset that possible flaw. This phone is a certified beast.
i have iphones and ipads as well. but thats on another OS. for android the fastest phones are ones with snapdragon 835/kirin 960, ufs2.1, and MLC. with more ram it definitely helps.
I think the jelly scrolling effect is visible on all OP5s, buts it's far more obvious on some units versus others. My first OP5 was just jellying all over and I couldn't unsee it. I had to return and test my luck with the new unit. Lucky for me the scrolling is far better on this unit. OP5 is generally a good phone overall, but I would definitely return if you see the jelly effect and it starts pissing you off like it did for me.
just ordered my op5. i have a opo still but im finally ready to upgrade. ive used s8+'s and i dont like typing on them and i dont like small bezels at the bottom of the screen because then its hard to hit the space bar. im excited to get my new phone next week
I will say I am really liking my OnePlus 5. Coming from a Nexus 5 and a Nexus 6p, I really like the OS on this OnePlus 5. I like the customization, and modding around in the phone is super snappy.
Kevin, this is the best review of the OnePlus 5 I've watched. I didn't know double-tap to wake on it that I've used for years on my Lumias, and the gestures, which I'm interested in trying out. New sub 👍🏾
I love your videos :) keep up the great work. I am learning a lot from this channel on how to make an incredible review video. It's my dream to become a tech UA-cam reviewer and watching your high quality videos helps me out a lot! I love the way you shoot the subject and the music is great and I feel like you are real when reviewing. Too many reviewers hide the flaws in devices and just over hype them. I like how real you are. Keep it up my friend 🤘
wow I must say after a long time I have seen and heard a top quality review ..offcource 1+5 is good phone but all in all the way you explained with videos and pics was awesome ..really liked it.Nice editing and even background music was decent ..
I bought the OP5 the moment it was launched in India. I love the Samsung GS8 but it's too expensive for me so I had to buy this. All I have to say is I love this device. It feels amazing in the hand, is super fast, the charging speed is unbelievable and has a petty good camera. I don't think there is a better device out there at this price point. Obviously, if you have the money then go for the Samsung S8 or maybe wait for the next iPhone or the pixel but if you don't have that kinda money then the OP5 will definitely not disappoint you. I highly recommend this device. And I don't have the jelly effect nor do I have any other issues with this phone. The camera bump definitely needs some sort of protection and is prone to scratches.
Coming from a person that HAD the S8 for a good month, and the oneplus 5, I would personally say the oneplus 5 is a much better purchase. The S8's screen is hard to beat, BUT the software really holds the phone back from it being truly great. It micro-lags after a week and while battery has stayed consistently good, its not worth the $700 purchase for the software experience. Samsung phones would be truly amazing if Samsung ditched touch wiz entirely in favor for something close to stock android.
If you can get used to android/like android, I would go for the oneplus 5. The iphone would be a great purchase too if you like iOS, BUT the issue I see in your particular case is a couple of things. 1. You dont know what the phone went through exactly, even if it looks great. 2. Assuming you are buying it from someone you dont know, its easy for the seller to blacklist the iphone he/she sold to you (unless its fully purchased/unlocked and the buyer can show proof) Edit: 2.Assuming you are buying it from someone you don't know, its easy for the seller to blacklist the iphone he/she sold to you a month or 2 later.
1:08 well, it's kind of a perspective game, because if you will consider thinking about the freedon 251 for example, you will see a significantly better price-performance.
People say the camera isn't good but let me tell you something. If you are like me (upgrading from a Nexus 5) then the camera is incredible! Dynamic range is amazing, the sharpness is crazy and the colors are just.. wow. Also *I have no jelly effect*, I really feel like this is an issue that like 10 people have and they are just really vocal about it on forums and here on yt.
William Larsson i didn't notice it till I heard about it online but it's really hard to do you have to literally scroll up and down like a mad man overall using the phone normally you really don't see it and if oneplus fixed it I don't think I would know
Just because you can't see it, doesn't mean it isn't there. It's in every single OP5 unit because of the way it's designed. I can see it on mine if I look for it but it doesn't bother me at all. Every unit has it, it's not a debatable thing, it's something that occurs when the screen of the phone is used upside down and the OP5's screen is mounted upside down.
I have the jelley effect and I am thinking about replacing my phone, hoping that the next one won't have it... but on the other hand I am worried that it might be even worse...
i dunno about you Kevin, but i get 32-34 hrs on a single charge with 4.5-6 hrs of SOT on my OP5. Adaptive brightness on, wifi on/off accordingly, BT usually off or barely used, Dark Mode on and Location off
Everyone's usage is different.. I have location off, and I use BT all day, watch, headphones, car, etc... I mean that's why I don't like mentioning battery life.. it's so subjective.
I still have the year old original 3. Im not upgrading this year maybe next year when oneplus delivers something more. Unique and less cloney. Might end up buying the G6 when it's price drops.
Kyoi Rinkijidota well depends on how you use it. Sometimes I leave at 530am with 80-85% battery and leave data and location on the whole day and reach home at about 7pm with about 20% left. Though I mostly browse Facebook and maybe 2 hrs of hd UA-cam video. Just to give you an idea.
Wtf, 1080p video is stable af. Much better than wobbly s8 and the i7.with The new update, 4k videos are beast. I don't even own this phone but I can say it's up there if not the best
I really hope that test footage of the camera wasn't filmed outside your house... Someone could easily find that corner on google earth using software and figure out where you live.
This review is a whoooole lot better than Flossy Carter's 40 minutes of waffle and at times, complete fraff. He gets way too superficial. His reviews are usually good but I think his love for mainstream brands like Samsung and LG has turned him into a bit of a fanboy. His nonsensical Floss Factor rating is whack, calling it a fake iPhone. It's anything but! Then you have Jerry Springer who has a jelly effect unit so his review was a bit biased. Get a unit without the jelly effect, THEN do a review. Damir Franc's, The Tech Chap's and this review are best ones
Great video with great thoughts 👌🏼
Ash Tailor wow. the. cinematic mentor is here. love your vids ash. great to see you here.
I heard the word PHONE 300 times in less than a minute lol
Hafed Marzouk OCD?
4:38 4k video stabilization now available with new Oxygen 4.5.7. if it hasn't released in your country yet download oxygen updater app from play store and check availability. Works with both rooted and non rooted phones. 👍🏻
Oneplus' Software + Galaxy s8 = my dream phone
+ Oneplus' price
Raffael Ender and iPhone design.
Oneplus' Software + Galaxy s8 = Pixel 2
Raffael Ender pixel 2 dude
Everything good about Touchwiz put into OnePlus Software and put it into the Note 8
If I had to buy a phone now, I'd probably get the OP5. With all its shortcomings, it's still the best value for money.
Great video Kevin, as always! 🙂
kozjegyzo best value for money?!?!????????
Immanuel Kant Yeah IMO it is right now the best value for money in the top category. Maybe the LG G6 is a contender, since the price has dropped, but the hardware in that is older. The camera is clearly better in the G6.
kozjegyzo and the screen and support/warranty.
Oh, and it's 100$€ cheaper
kozjegyzo Honor 9?
That's competitive, but the OP5 is still cheaper and has better specs
5:20 When did OnePlus say there's a fix coming for the jelly issue? They've said they're investigating it but there's been no announcement of a fix. They have, however, said there's a fix coming for the 4k stabilisation which you didn't mention.
Billy Reynolds Correct. Check the XDA article Mr. not Ninja.
He referenced the jittery scrolling in the launcher if you swipe between the icons. Jelly ain't going nowhere it's a hardware issue.
Billy Reynolds there is? will there be a software update for the 4k stabilisation?
OnePlus 5 has EIS now. If you didn't get it yet, look for the upgrade.
For me, personally, performance is THE deciding factor. And ever since the OP3, no other device has even managed to match OnePlus devices in pure performance, not even the Pixels. Ritesh Tripathy The sony xz premium is the fastest phone right now
Arami Yemane are you kidding? that phone only got 4gb ram.
fastest on the market is this. also the mate 9 pro and iphone
Qjemuse ram doesnt mean any thing it all depends on optimasion look at the iphone only 2 gb of ram there is a comparison vs mate 9 pro from timmers
i have iphones and ipads as well. but thats on another OS. for android the fastest phones are ones with snapdragon 835/kirin 960, ufs2.1, and MLC. with more ram it definitely helps.
in my opinion if you have the 3t stay with it if you don't have a 3t and want a oneplus phone get the one plus 5
My OP3 is still giving me more than I need. Will probably skip new variants til it completely dies on me.
Ben Sebastian I loved my oneplus 3, I would still use it with no complaints at all, but it broke...
Ben Sebastian Me as well, let's wait xD. I think 6gb of ram will do it's job
Ben Sebastian I m still on 1+1 cash me outside how abt that
Love your videos, nice calm bs free presentation. I'm sticking with the 3t because of the stabilization on the camera.
Thanks man - and yeah, 3T is still such a great phone.. no point in upgrading unless you want the latest and greatest and you are a spec chaser!
There's really no reason to buy a new phone every year anyways, no matter the brand. Tech doesn't advance that fast, so it's no big deal.
I think the jelly scrolling effect is visible on all OP5s, buts it's far more obvious on some units versus others. My first OP5 was just jellying all over and I couldn't unsee it. I had to return and test my luck with the new unit. Lucky for me the scrolling is far better on this unit. how is the usage of oneplus 5, with dual sim and lte on?
just ordered my op5. i have a opo still but im finally ready to upgrade. ive used s8+'s and i dont like typing on them and i dont like small bezels at the bottom of the screen because then its hard to hit the space bar. im excited to get my new phone next week

I really like the OP5, but how do they handle updates, is it as short as google?
Kevin, this is the best review of the OnePlus 5 I've watched. I didn't know double-tap to wake on it that I've used for years on my Lumias, and the gestures, which I'm interested in trying out. New sub 👍🏾

bro one of the most honest reviews i've watched usually people are bias to certain phones... thanks!!!
does u have heating issue with using it for 15 minutes or so?
what game were you playing on the op5 during the video?
Loved this vid, your content is always high quality. Keep it up bro! Very happy w OP5
Love my OP5.
Lol
wuf Its such a great all rounder !
wuf how does it handle social media? as in like snapchat or instagram live etc.?
yes
RoboMan268 cause all other android phones ive used just trip out like the snapchat quality is way off and crashes
What was the game he was playing?
Is this phone good for heavy gaming? please tell me
The OnePlus 5 is a really good phone but my 3T still performs like a champ
what should I buy? op5 6gb ram wich costs 431 eur or 8gb ram wich costs 520 eur?
I managed to get the 64 gb version for around £370 which was awesome, well worth!
what is that game you playing?
do u have stereo orientation problem during recording video in landscape mode?
0 jello, and did you updated your OOS ? i dont have that 1080p video as you do =\
what is your daily driver again?
kevin, could you do a mate 9 review after this few month?
is it better to buy it ??
wow I must say after a long time I have seen and heard a top quality review ..offcource 1+5 is good phone but all in all the way you explained with videos and pics was awesome ..really liked it.Nice editing and even background music was decent ..

You are very wrong about the battery. It fares better than s8 and iphone 7
Sreejith T R true it's way better than the s8 google pixel iphone 7 plus etc
It is strange that some people say their OnePlus 5 only holds for 5-6 hours. Maybe there were some shipped with defective batteries.
so is this your daily driver ?
Can someone please tell me what's the game he's playing on the video?
The notification always pops up on the lock screen even after switching that option off. How to solve that?????
I never had any of these phones I heard this one is really good. Good vid kevin
Congratulations Kev! I'm sure your make a great dad, you'll love it. Having kid really changes you.
there is not enough for me to sale a Oneplus 3t to go get this (shrugs)
s8 vs op5 which is better......and many says s8 lags time to time is it true....

please tell me about jelly scrolling..i want to purchase oneplus 5
parth chaudhari ı think no one have that
where I can buy it?
You can only buy the oneplus5 online from their website unless you live in very select areas to buy them locally (NYC for the united states)
U can get it from Amazon online store
another great review Kevin!

OnePlus 5 speed, software, gestures, finger print sensor + Samsung Galaxy Note 8 body and camera + HTC squeeze feature = best phone ever😍
i will stay with 3T 128gb
+Antonio Henrique good call !
Antonio Henrique and I would stay with 3T 64 gb 😀. One plus 5 is not an upgrade at all for me.
My gunmetal 64gb oneplus 3t is still amazing and still gets 6 hours of screen on time
Goze A. hw ru getting so much SOT , my phone struggles to get 4hr sot
I got the oneplus 3t 64gb back in December of last year, still going strong !!
great review, your just getting better and better.
Worth upgrading from a OP 2? :D

Kevin The Tech Ninja yeah that's very true. Taking lots of pics and shooting videos will also eat into battery. Everyone's battery situation varies.
TBH the battery life is amazing on the device. I prefer my G6 but this phone's battery life is phenomenal
Yesterday the support for EIS on 4k Vids came out.
I hope u see that comment and make a note in this Vid.
I still have the year old original 3. Im not upgrading this year maybe next year when oneplus delivers something more. Unique and less cloney. Might end up buying the G6 when it's price drops.
Well I'm going from the s4 to this and I'm pretty excited even though people say the 3t is a better value I want the latest specs
Abitosh go for it..I have it n it's the best for its price.. actually better than what u can expect for its price
Tenzin Londen Already received it. Sending from the op5 :D I have to say upgrading from the S4 feels glorious man. Silky smooth
Abitosh nice!! Best wishes
It will not let me remove card unless I add another.
Great review kevin!
Nice video bro, keep going!
Wtf, 1080p video is stable af. Much better than wobbly s8 and the i7.with The new update, 4k videos are beast. I don't even own this phone but I can say it's up there if not the best
Really appreciate that old background track. Missed it.
What about the screen jelly effect?
I mentioned it.
YOUR KIDS ARE SO CUTE!!! Great review, can't wait for the next one!
those aren't his kids bruh, but his wife is currently pregnant.
Thanks Tamara, they're my nieces and nephews.. and Walter is right, my wife is preggos.
notice me senpai
+Lanh Nguyen noticed you are.
Soon upgrading from A BlackBerry Passport, it will be a pleasure.
great review Kevin
WHAT a good review u got brother on oneplus5,,
what a good review u got brother,, thanks for the video.
I really hope that test footage of the camera wasn't filmed outside your house... Someone could easily find that corner on google earth using software and figure out where you live.
it is annoying when they call it global yet you cannot get the phone in Australia.
can u tell me abbout op5 jelly??did you facing jellly scrolling issue in op5??
+parth chaudhari listen to the review
Whoa! What's the intro music?
also pause/start music next song/previous song gestures with screen off
4-5hrs SOT would be heaven to me
I have a s8. it's set at 1080p. with 1440p enabled my battery life is bad. 1080p is perfectly fine especially if one isn't using VR
There is no bell icon right next to the subscribe button -_-
great video got the original still running well
What cute children!! Little cutie bears!!😊🐻🐻🐻😊
haha thx. I hope mine can be as cute haha
Having the soft keys on the screen is taking real estate from the screen. Just point that out.
OnePlus is the In-N-Out of the phone industry.
Notifications disappear within seconds from notification bar on my OnePlus 5, can someone help please? it's really annoying.
honestly. if you are having small issues like that. just do a factory reset. With Google backup. 90% of your things are backed up.
Real world review and 20 days don't go hand in hand give it a couple months at least.
scope squad! 😁
I'm a no go on skins. I only do cases so my phone is protected
I find skins stupid if they cant even protect the lip of the camera lens. That's my main reason for doing cases.
wish I could still buy the 3t not on aftermarket :(
i have that jello effect but its not that noticable
nice video, new subscriber here!!
Good phone to make videos?
What Game 4:59 ??????????
nice vid man
Every OP5 has the screen issue. That's the way they are built. Bad research before reviewing..
specs to price nothing like it...lol
what about xiaomi mi6
honor 9
Love my Op5 super phone
Watched this on my one plus 5 😀😀😀😀
IN YOUR review, your device have that jelly effect.... Just see....
Only thing that concerns me is the no OIS. Not sure how big a deal that would be
+puckhead1221 I show an example of it in the video. Check it.
Kevin The Tech Ninja I think it would probably be fine for me. I only shoot in 1080 and I stand still when doing so. I think I might get this phone.
puckhead1221 That's a deal breaker for me. When you are used to OIS it's difficult to not have it.
This review is a whoooole lot better than Flossy Carter's 40 minutes of waffle and at times, complete fraff. He gets way too superficial. Damir Franc's, The Tech Chap's and this review are best ones
Once op, forever op 😄😍 op3 is the best tho
