  • Follow along as we explore the Nehalem River area with our Vanagon Westfalia and end up at a campsite with a pretty epic view near the Oregon Coast. Our Westy climbs a narrow road to find home for the night and we explore the Oregon coast the next day.

What a great spot to camp overnight. That is the best part of camping in a class- B , being able to get to more remote locations. Thanks for taking us all along.

It's ok to be afraid of heights. You'll forget all about it when you hear the train whistle.

hi im from california and im gonna be traveling to oregon and washington could you tell me of any good disperse camping spots that are free pls in oregon :) by a river?

    • @ThatBaldwinLife

That's a tough one but I would start with the iOverlander app or website to find dispersed sites along your route. We use it all the time to find sites or at least areas where there may be dispersed camping. When are you heading north?

We put it on iOverlander if you search around Nehalem on the Oregon coast. It was put in by That Baldwin Life. Enjoy!

Looks like the place we camped last summer. Unfortunately, we had some locals come tearing through our camp at 1:30 am in a UTV. They were upset that we were camped there. Aside from that, the views were amazing.

We heard some ATV's off in the distance and hoped they would stay clear. Bummer about the interruption of your camp, that's frustrating.

The Nehalem is one of my favorite rivers in OR, sooo many good spots up and down that river.

    GPS coordinates?

Hey thanks for reaching out! We don't give out locations of places that are not well known just so they do not get over run. Hope you understand. Also, we have heard this place has been closed due to a locked gate on the road. :(

Diggin your channel. The one thing that's always gotten me about boondocking is being on FS, DNR lands crossing thru private etc is always how much harvesting you come across, past n present. It is what it is but looking out across that view I did what I always do which is try and imagine what it *ought* to look like. Good stuff tho!

We feel the same way. We know it is a renewable resource that society depends on but it is no fun to look at. It is part of growing up in Oregon, watching big stands of timber be harvested but we also drive through areas that were replanted 20 years ago and are amazed at how it rebounds.
Thanks for checking out the channel and we have lots of great videos coming up.
