We shall see with the mechanic work on the c8. With family in the Chevy mechanic work, I’m sure it’s bound to come up how much it takes to pull out that beast
Great video. Just wanted to add that I just had the valley plate fixed on my LS460. It also is an issue with other models with the 4.6 engine so it's not iso to just the IS F which I know has a different V8 but it's a common issue across the board.
Great job with the video on identifying quite a few issues with our cars! A few more would be the window rubber molding that covers the chrome trim on the sides lifts up and degrades, requiring replacement semi-often. Also the roof moldings often get pre-mature paint fade and you end up needing to replace them (they come painted to match). Also the trunk buttons melt which requires replacement. Two interior pieces I can think of that wear prematurely in my opinion after seeing so many of these cars come through the dealer are the steering wheels and shift knobs wearing out. Two noise concerns often had are noises when going over bumps from the sunroof- which requires an adjustment and change of the sunroof seal, also a squeal when in manual mode shifting hard from 1-2-3, which is the drive belt that needs to get changed out (they go through them relatively fast, 60-80k miles). Shifter plastic covers also commonly break. One more final thing that some owners have issues with is a intermittent airbag light on, or just straight up a airbag light on the dash, without having had any accidents. There is a warranty enhancement for replacement of the driver side knee airbag inflator connector. I read through all comments and didn’t see these so wanted to add my 2 pennies !
ISFASTER Just added one more on that, keep thinking of them as they come ! Yes indeed, lots of cars through the dealer and me personally owning one have led to quite the mental database.. lol 😂
IIRC the coolant leaks were really only prevalent on 2009 and earlier models. Toyota had a bad batch of sealant or something company-wide. The Tundra engines get coolant leaks as well in those years. Haven’t looked into other engines.
I’ve seen/heard of it happening to 2010+ models as well, may just seem like the 08-09s are more affected because those two years account for over 50% of ISFs sold.
@@newera8388 yes I ended up getting one and this video was very helpful because it prompted me to find a car without these issues. Valley plate was done, control arm bushings replaced, etc. The subwoofer was actually missing from my car but I've replaced it with an aftermarket unit that sounds great. The car itself: I absolutely love it and everything they say is true (good and bad). It's fast, it's fun, it sounds great, feels great to drive - however she takes a while to "wake up" if you're driving normally and then put your foot down, and you do have to be driving it hard to get the fun noises... but for me, that's what makes it such a solid car to drive: all play when it's time to play, but sedate and undramatic when you're just cruising in traffic (except for the exhaust rumble that's there as a constant reminder it's not an IS250)
Ha! That said, I got smoked at the lights by a VW Golf R the other day. Apparently they took the rumble as a sign I wanted to race (I didn't), so I was in full auto non-sport and took off normally until I saw it "was on" so to speak. But the "F" was like "oh hey human, I got your throttle input, but I can tell you probably only want to go a little bit faster... oh okay, a bit more? How about that? Still not enough? Oh, shit sorry, I got you now fam.. BAAAAAAARRRRM" by which time it was all over. So if you want the taps on at a moments notice, you have to either floor it from the get-go or be in full manual.

I have a video on how to find a valley plate leak with a borescope. First indication is low coolant . A $20 borescope at Amazon was a great investment.
Great channel man. Feel free to link my vid. There is no sound but it’s a simple and easiest way to look for the valley plate leak BEFORE it starts leaking down the firewall side or down the tranny, etc. Lexus did a visual inspection and pressure tests for TWO years and couldn’t find it. A $20 borescope showed them to perform the work before my warranty ran out.
Hello there. Thank you for reading my comment. I am having an issue with my 2011 ISF. My rpm refuses to go up at about 5500 rpm on sport manual mode. Also it refuses to go up when in sport automatic mode (refuse to shift gears when at automatic sport mode). The normal mode looks fine. Have no idea about it, maybe you know why? Thanks so much!
SunshineState it’s been fixed. It’s just the silicone intake being a bit old and soft, so the rpm goes up, the air in it was too fast so the silicone intake shuts! It stopped the air to go in so there was an instant power cut at 5500 rpm. All good! When you guys get the aftermarket intake, do think about the silicone ones since it would get old and weak.
Hey. What tire size you running on the rears with stock rims? I'm looking to go with 285 Indy 500s and worrying if it will cause fender damage or if it will be safe. Was going to go with 295 on stock rims but realized I am pushing it. 285 seems like the safest width upgrade. Just wanted to know your opinion since I've heard you also run Indy 500s
Driver left side seat bolster wears out. The leather tends to crack. Brake caliper peels & cracks. As for the interior trim, avoid oil based cleaners at all costs!
Eli Gonzalez If you bought your car used, then it might seem normal. I bought my car new. In about year, I starting noticing what I mentioned above. It was really annoying. I’d rather dealt with this than interior panels melting.
rearward front lca bushing tends to go soft. but the inner tire wear is more related to camber change during suspension travel while track driving... I definitely destroyed my inner tires driving really hard, even with rearward lca bushings. The suggested camber adjustment fix is probably the best way to fully fix this. also getting stiffer sidewall tires seems to help quite a bit. the valley plate leak is caused by the corrosive coolant eating away at the FIPG, I did mine with permatex "The Right Stuff" still good 2 years later. The example you showed where its dripping down is an EXTREME example. Easier way to check is using a borescope. Run it down near the PCV hose and you should be able to see the red crusty stuff if you have the leak. Also, when performing the vally plate reseal. be REALLY CAREFUL with the direct injectors.... I believe there is a harness connector towards the rear, it may be easier to literally remove the injectors without unplugging them then shattering the DI injectors they are very brittle. also be careful that you do not roll the o-ring on the bridge pipe during installation, you may need a mirror or borescope or something to verify it is not rolled (you should be able to see it in the gap) it may be helpful to dip the oring in coolant as it can act as a lubricant, also get a new one from the dealership they are cheap and typically the old one is stretched in comparison to a new one increasing chances of rolling the ring. great video
wow was having problems with my ifs last night. drove fine the following day and when i get in to go home it wouldn't start! lights was working fine and everything. but it just would't turn over. so now i have it at my local mechanics to see whats wrong with it
I have a lexus is 350 and it was nothing but problems. I loved it at first but now i hate that fucking thing. The head cracked, the alternator gave out, the starter gave out, i was driving to work and the car started shaking real bad, i went back home, it was fine, 6 months ago it cranked 1 time and then nothing, i replaced the crank sensor, mass air flow sensor, ecu, and then when the car started to crank over it wouldnt start as if it wasnt getting gas but i took the fuel pump out and its strong. Now that i dont want the peice of shit people say its the immobilizer. Fuck that im not trying shit anymore. I know i just got a peice of shit example but regardless i would never recommend that car to anyone anymore.
Thank you for the link, I am going to order my part via akguam Lexus. I have question my ISF has full on exhaust PPE headers the B2-S2 code p-0157 keeps going on my scanner, I replaced the 02 sensor and found that the previous owner by-pass the sensors through the passenger sensor B1 S2 with some kind of relay, is their a way to completely bypass the sensors? Please let me know thank you.
From what I've read, the reason the IS wears tires more so on the inside is due to design. Lexus cambered the rear to provide better stability in corners and thus causes the tire to wear more on the inside.
@@ISFASTER oh weird... I hadn't heard of that issue before. Couldn't it be due to poor ball joint design and/or control arm bushing wear? Both upper and lower?
@@nathangoodman603 The 1st generation IS had the same issue. A adjustable upper control arm or aka "camber kit" will correct this inner tire wear issue.
Good video! I don't have a problem with my dash. Lexus is changing all my panels for FREE. They feel it would be a problem when the vehicle gets older. My 2010 parts came in today as a matter of fact. Took 1 week to come in. They will give me a loaner. It will take 2 days to complete.
Great video! Addresses most of the common issues experienced by ISF owners. Luckily for me I have not had to deal with most of these. Possibly cracked headers as I do get the ticking noise on cold start-up, but this is a mod well worth doing regardless of cracked headers :) Another issue worth mentioning that I have experienced and have heard from other owners, is a clicking noise on the front end when backing up. On mine it's just a quick click noise on drivers side front end, then immediatley goes away once car is moving. Possibly worn ball joint ?
Thank you. I’m hoping I won’t have to deal with any of these in the future as well. *knock on wood* I’m not too sure about the issue you’re having though.

I have the ticking sound on mine upon cold start up so most likely cracked header. Anybody have any experience with this and advice for the least expensive route?

@@ISFASTER so it's envitable? No matter how carefull you're it will happen? How many miles before it happens? I'm looking to buy a 2008 ISF from japan with great condition and around 40k to 60k km.

The 2012/13 ISF has a fantastic interior, with way better materials used and of better build quality than the German competition. The infotainment system is not interior. If you buy an ISF for its infotainment system, perhaps you should buy PS5 and glue some wheels on it.
Hi buddy, my 2009 ISF fitted with 225/40r19 front and 255/35r19 from factory. Now I’m gonna get new tires, is new set up 245/35 front and 275/30 rear good? Any safety issues?
Really wanted one of these cars as a Toyota guy and after seeing and reading more and more about these problems. Kind of turned me off on my search. Some of these are not "small problems"
Overall my car has been great for the performance it produces and very reliable especially for the way I’ve ran it on the track. Each car will have its own issues but I would not classify any of these as catastrophic failures.
This is the first time I’ve heard those problems occurred due to the coolant. My understanding of the valley plate leak is the sealant used forms small cracks due to heat and the coolant leaks through the cracks and out.
Just had a crappy situation with my is350 couple weeks ago my starter died and i wasnt about to pay someone to 8-900 just to change it so i attacked it my self and let me tell you it was one hell of a B!tch to change 😂😂
ISFASTER now the other issue for my wifes is250 we wont be able to do the recall for her car because the original owners didnt initiate the order before they sold it to a used auto dealer so now we will be stuck with a sticky dash and worn door panels now

All cars have their share of problems and none of these are catastrophic. I believe them to be less worrisome than some of the issues the competitors have shown during their lifetime.
I purchased a Toyota platinum warranty and it's paid for itself already. Got everything you metioned replaced except valley plate. Didn't get that issue. Still have 3 years or 40k miles left on the warranty.

So an expensive internal engine problem lol 416hp for a $25,000 car with a lot of miles. Just get a camaro or mustang for less money and the engines are reliable. No ls3 has a single huge defect like that valley issue. Only thing that happens on an ls3 is maybe the oil pump. Pushrod v8s have far less parts than these 32 valve quad cam engines

It stopped the air to go in so there was an instant power cut at 5500 rpm. All good! When you guys get the aftermarket intake, do think about the silicone ones since it would get old and weak.
Thank you.. Quiet reasonable problems compared to the your BMW, Merc and Audi!
I run 285/30/19 on stock 2012 wheels on a stock rear suspension without issues, no rubbing and no fender mods.
@@ISFASTER same here stock suspension, stock 2011 wheels. you think a 295 would be pushing it?
Yes, most people run 275s on the 2008-2011 wheels.
The only common problem with the is models is the start up rattle..very annoying noise but does not cause damage to the engine.
Hey it's Luis good video very informative thanks keep the vids coming see ya👍
Thank you! 😁
Driver left side seat bolster wears out. The leather tends to crack. Brake caliper peels & cracks. As for the interior trim, avoid oil based cleaners at all costs!
So normal wear and tear for the seats and calipers 🤣
I believe there is a harness connector towards the rear, it may be easier to literally remove the injectors without unplugging them then shattering the DI injectors they are very brittle. also be careful that you do not roll the o-ring on the bridge pipe during installation, you may need a mirror or borescope or something to verify it is not rolled (you should be able to see it in the gap) it may be helpful to dip the oring in coolant as it can act as a lubricant, also get a new one from the dealership they are cheap and typically the old one is stretched in comparison to a new one increasing chances of rolling the ring.
great video
wow was having problems with my ifs last night. drove fine the following day and when i get in to go home it wouldn't start! lights was working fine and everything. but it just would't turn over. so now i have it at my local mechanics to see whats wrong with it
That sucks to hear. I hope it isn’t anything too serious or expensive to fix. Maybe the starter? Best of luck!

I believe you can use a tune (RR-Racing) to get rid of the check engine light or an O2 simulator.
From what I've read, the reason the IS wears tires more so on the inside is due to design. Lexus cambered the rear to provide better stability in corners and thus causes the tire to wear more on the inside.
The inner tire wear is on the front tires.
Great information in this video! 💯
Current own an is300 ISF is a dream car hope I can own one some day :)
You’ll get there! 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
Good video! I don't have a problem with my dash. Lexus is changing all my panels for FREE. They feel it would be a problem when the vehicle gets older. My 2010 parts came in today as a matter of fact. Took 1 week to come in. They will give me a loaner. It will take 2 days to complete.
Thanks! Glad to hear you’re getting your panels replaced.
You think they will come out with some performance parts for the new ES 350 F-Sport 2? Headers etc?
I doubt very many ES350 F Sport owners are looking to modify their cars.
@@ISFASTER I am lol.
Great video! Addresses most of the common issues experienced by ISF owners. Luckily for me I have not had to deal with most of these. Possibly cracked headers as I do get the ticking noise on cold start-up, but this is a mod well worth doing regardless of cracked headers :)
Another issue worth mentioning that I have experienced and have heard from other owners, is a clicking noise on the front end when backing up.
I think it’s the front lower control arm bushing it’s a common problem on isf and easy to change
Not enough info such as which years isf has problems, how much is replacement header,
You should compile a list of missing information with answers and share.
Wait I thought all ISF came with the navi? How did you get it with the simple infotainment?
There’s a handful that came this way. 🦄🦄🦄
@@ISFASTER Thanx for the reply I did not know that. All of the ones I have looked on sale have navi. I guess yours could be the 1 of 86 2014.

Wonder if you could use a high heat JB weld on the cracked headers lol
I’m looking to buy a isf and I have a 200k 07 is350 that I’ll keep as a daily when I get one . Is this the only real issues isf have been having lately
Yes, of course there will be others but this covers the majority of them.
Thanks for the video. Considering possibly an ISF as a next car, long time AMG or V12TT Benz owner. Thanks
You’re welcome. How did you like AMG ownership?
I have the ticking sound on mine upon cold start up so most likely cracked header. Anybody have any experience with this and advice for the least expensive route?
The least expensive route would be to weld the broken flange back on the manifold.
zaneiken thanks
I agree, still a pain since you'll have to uninstall the header(s) that is cracked.
ISFASTER Update: Passenger side header is confirmed cracked. My mechanic is recommending replacing it with an OEM header. $1700 part, $2600 with labor. Your thoughts?
J Lowery - you could buy a set of PPE headers for that much or try and see if you can get the stock header welded.
The tire wear is due to Tha camber these cars come from the factory they were design that way to improve cornering
Camber adjustable Upper control arm will fix that issue.
Cracked exhaust manifold should trigger o2 sensors so that one should be easy to diagnose.
kjax are you saying that if an isf had cracked headers or exhaust manifold, there should be a check engine light?
@@kevinalonso3395 yes assuming the o2 sensors are stock
kjax would there also be smoke coming out from the exhaust?
@@kevinalonso3395 well on my ISF mine cracked and the only symptom was CEL/limp mode. I'm not sure if that would happen too. If you're having issues I'd recommend making a post over at the clublexus.com forums to get some more opinions

Sorry to hear that. Hopefully they weren’t too bad of a fix.

Will regular coolant changing work?
I don’t believe so. You’ve gotta stop the leaking.

I wish the 2012-2013 IS F had an updated interior... would change my mind from getting a 2013 IS350 F Sport
The 2012/13 ISF has a fantastic interior, with way better materials used and of better build quality than the German competition. The infotainment system is not interior. If you buy an ISF for its infotainment system, perhaps you should buy PS5 and glue some wheels on it.
That's on isF only right
I thought this car was completely bullet proof, I guess every vehicle has their issues, regular maintenance is key
Hi buddy, my 2009 ISF fitted with 225/40r19 front and 255/35r19 from factory. Now I’m gonna get new tires, is new set up 245/35 front and 275/30 rear good? Any safety issues?
That’s the size most people run on those wheels.
Welded headers cause a major power loss. I’ve had a header welded in the past and it does nothing but hurt the flow.
How would welding the two pieces that were originally welded together make flow any different?

Check out my other videos. There’s a lot to like about the ISF as well.
Valley and water pumps are due to the crappy pink coolant. I always flush out to toyota red coolant.
