thx 4 sharing !
also always loved the is - super cool
Great car! Thanks for sharing! Glad to hear the ownership costs have been low!
Love your F. I have one too! Since it's a 2008, did you upgrade the rear electronic limited slip? Also, what are your wheel tire/specs?
The durability of a Camry, the speed of an M3, the sound of a Mustang.
IS-F, an infamous legend.
And the quality of a lexus
@@mitchellsteindler Quality = Durability
…isn’t it ?! ;)
@@vollcare4076 not quite

Converted to miles, that's about 274,000 miles with nothing more than a cam chain replacement, being pushed hard on the ring, that is impressive durability.
Toyota...
@@fnnpc746 Absolutely, just reinforces their reputation.
@@gpaje My dad drives a Toyota. Got over 350k miles. Just basic maintenance. No problems. And he has abused it A LOT.

I think this engine is related to the 1uz one of my absolute favorite engines. There are examples out there with 1 million miles. And they still drive like brand new. Masterpiece of an engine as with everything Toyota makes especially when there's also Yamaha involved.
This engine sounds so great. Same goes for the modern Lexus LC500.
It's the same engine with very minor tweaks.
Would love to see Misha take an LC500 Coupe around the ring 👍🏼
@@sdlausen1 minor tweaks? the entire head is different
@@ogmechsftwThe limiter is 7400 and not 6800 as the ISF and the compression is higher
@@ogmechsftw The head being different is a tweak. How much different do you honestly think it is to make it completely different?
My family is in the taxi industry and our last toyota prius we decommissioned had 1 million kilometres and still ran. Insane reliability on toyotas and lexuses.
. I worked at Toyota and saw a Prius with 950,000 miles
as an ISF owner, this was a joy to see! theyre are rare so its nice to see Misha driving one!
I love seeing japanese sedans get some love, they're slept on too often for track work

@@sesh3508 gotta wait for someone to show up with a g37 sedan, or m56
@@Bears_r_scary yeah true the ISF just has a special place in my mind as an all around beast of a sedan
What fuel mileage do you get?
Some trivia about the ISF (I love the car).
The first iteration of ISF (pre 2009) had very stiff dampers because they tested the car on the Nurburgring. It also did not come with an LSD.
People did not like the stiff suspension, so Lexus eased it up a bit on the facelift model, which came at the end of 2008, beginning of 2009.
They also added true LSD in the back.
Regarding the gearbox, it's a marvel of a torque converter box. As some people had noted, it locks the converter for faster shifts and it was the fastest shifting converter box on the market at the time. It also utilized something similar to what DSG does when it prepares the next gear, in this case - it pre-pressurizes the next clutch pack. As it's and older technology, sometimes the car can get confused if it's either down or up you want to go (in varying loads or partial throttle, especially).
As for the sound - Yamaha designed the cylinder heads and the intake. The engine has variable length runners as well as secondary air intake which opens up at about 3.5-4k RPM to give you even a meatier sound.
As with most of sports cars Lexus have done, it was a niche product and went unappreciated when it came out. They are expensive as hell now :)
Thanks for the ride guys!
Appreciate the comment. Many need to read this
Driving mine in the hills in drive mode will definitely confuse the transmission as it will start holding gears longer. But all you have to do is slap it in sport mode then back to drive mode to settle it down.
im pleasantly suprised by the way this old torque converter gearbox shifts. seems pretty crisp and responsive. also that sound.
and then 440k kilometers? i guess thats at least 2 times as much as an e92 would do without rod bearings? impressive.
Rather 4 times the life span of an M3/M4 beeing driven properly... 😏
@@Mr--S. yep
In manual mode it locks up the torque converter completely, so it slams through the gears quite aggressive. Lexus claims 100ms shifts
It's a faster shifting gearbox than the current M3/M4 :)
It's the fastest shifting non DC 8 speed (if utilized properly)
My buddy has an ISF here in Chicago with 310k miles. He bought it with 70k miles or so. Absolute beast of a car. I always have a smile when I’m riding in it or when he allows me to borrow it for a day or two. Still worth probably 20-25k in this market. 😂
Probably closer to 15-18k, but depends on the maintenance records as mods. They do hold their value insanely well with the reliability factor. You won't be finding Mustangs with 300k miles going for that money, that's for sure.
In Germany 40-50K in this Moment.
For a Month it was only 1 ISF on the Market and the Price was 100K.
amazing
@@tehDmez that's simply because of the amount of Mustangs on the market though. You won't have a hard time finding one with low mileage, while ISFs are not that common.
@@NicoYoshimitsu I see cars for around 30-35k
I don't usually like hitting the limiter, but when I do... It should sound like this one! The durability made me browse for one of those.
Look up on UA-cam: "Modified Lexus ISF Review | The ULTIMATE Daily & Track Car?" and watch the first 15 seconds. it has the best sounding limiter noise! Great way to start the morning ;)
@@tubejorrit I agree, the rev limiter in my RC-F sounds pretty good too, check it out. ua-cam.com/video/os9lm7MVEC4/v-deo.html&ab_channel=FreedomIsn%27tFree

440k on the clock and still running nice. That’s Toyota/Lexus 🙌🏻
This is why it’s sad that Lexus hasn’t done more in the sport sedan category as of late. Heard bad things about the IS 500 electrical issues and such. There’s a reason these ISFs are still 20-40k haha.

The amount of confidence and trust this driver has in the fellow drivers on the track is insane
I'd be scared stupid doing what he does not only for the other drives but also for me. That's very skillful driving right there.
Also a proud Lexus IS-F owner here, and it's inspiring to see the car out there representing Japanese performance and reliability so well. Of course, those of us who have owned them for a while aren't too surprised as we are keepers of one of the best kept secrets of automotive-dom, but I'm still beaming with pride to see the car out there performing so well! Great job Misha...as always my friend!
GSF owner here, used to drive an is350... I'm hooked for life. The looks, the sound, the feel, all fucking amazing. Would love to add an RCF and ISF to the collection in the future too
How is Lexus maintenance? Oil,brakes changes prices?
May God bless you. Jesus loves you very much! In Him is true peace, and the gift of eternal life! Your physical life isn't very long- live it right so you will enter heaven! Jesus said:

One of the best-sounding V8's ever. That mid-range bark when it comes on cam is gorgeous. These things are holding their value though...and with this kind of longevity on a performance drivetrain, it's only going to confirm the relatively high prices. Would love this engine for a swap.
The UZ family line is better for a swap IMO. Not high revving, but very solid and more commonly done swap so better aftermarket support especially for a 1UZ.
@@SI0AXyou’re insane… yes thst motors reliable but not a great performance motor without a fat turbo or supercharger…. Better off swapping an LS

Former ISF owner. Excellent car, ticks all the boxes. Perfect if you can only have one car but want excellent performance among all other things. Only problem is the valley coolant plate leak but it is quite minimal and can be deferred if you desire (just keep an eye on the coolant). Cost of ownership is quite low/very manageable for what you're getting. Glad to see it on here @ the Nurburgring driven hard
What year ISF did you have?
My 2017 V6 Accord at 418,069km and still got it! Drives like new!
Seeing the old torque converter still shifting quite well is just phenomenal the bearings intact Lexus quality is excellent. At 273k miles the ISF-F still sounds nice.
Toyota/Lexus are so extremely competent when it comes to making power-and drivetrains, I definitely understand why they are hesitant to go into to the EV world. I really appreciate them for that.
It's that and Japan has a serious energy crisis
As long as they make brilliant hybrid vehicles they have no need to dabble in the EV market.
Hopefully they can hang on until the EV realities become part of the conversation. Right now the vision is a fantasy. I give them a ton of credit for not jumping into a BS dream.
EVs are not a global solution, it can be forced to be a solution in the richest countries, but that's all. In places where things have to make sense, energy is limited and it has to be stored in some way and cost is a really relevant aspect EVs don't make any sense. Toyota provides global solutions as they sell very well Worldwide
We recently sold our 2002 IS200 (6spd manual, rwd, lsd, 2ltr straight six) with close to 250k miles on the clock. Still running great. It did 3 laps of the 'ring about 5yrs ago. :)

That @4:20 chest belt tightening! 😇 Amazing, amazing sound out of that Toyota 8 cylinder! Watching this video, it honestly felt like Misha or Robert were out in one of the Apex supercars with the audio and speed captured. Many thanks to the owner for bringing out this monster!
the first 8 speed auto from Toyota actually came in the 3rd generation GS460 w/ the 1UR-FSE. The father to the 2UR- GSE which can be found in the ISF, RCF & GSF . 2:16
Very nice. Love the ISF. Can remembering being in the Corrado with a few buddies when the ISF came out and we encountered it and didn't know what it was yet - but I was immediately like "hey it has quad pipes, let's race it!" 🤣🤣
Car sounds sonorous and looks very balanced and stable. Little to no understeer when turning in and puts power down so well on corner exit Misha doesn't countersteer once throughout the lap. This and the e46 M3 with smg gearbox you recently drove are the two very best cars to lap the track on your channel for me.
I have this car sience 13 years Im the 2nd owner, it has 720000km on the it. I just changed chain 2 times. Even water pump is original. This mf is a legend and yes it doen't matter what you do, you cannot broke it. I will never sell my ISF, never ❤️☝️

Nice driving! Great to see high mileage and still kicking butt out there!
One of the best Japanese cars ever to be built the note from this v8 is truly beautiful, I have seen 2 in real life before and hearing them take off was truly amazing. One was bone stock one was modified.
Definitely one of my attainable dream cars, I started out driving my moms 2013 Corolla so it would be a fun comparison!
I love that gently and straight way of drive. It's very close to my heart. Thanks for the video.:)
I reckon that's one of the nicest driving cars I've seen on your channel, smooth, relaxed, and deceptively fast
my is is at 230,000 and it’s still pushing. Toyota makes great cars
F will forever be a legend! Will be getting another one soon!
I had one for 7 years, nothing went wrong with it, and sold it for more than i bought it for.😍
This was back when Lexus was trying to compete with the Germans in the performance arena after they beat them in the reliability department. But they gave up on that, which is probably for the best. They never quite got there, but this car was pretty close, especially when modified.
That guy going the wrong way is crazy.

Honestly my favourite Misha video!!! Love this car.
That’s a sweet build…perfect daily track car compromise IMO. Love the kids and platform.

Finally a proper ISF push on the Nurburgring ! Love it ! Your a beast misha, Subscribed
274000 miles and still being driven 10/10. Only the Japanese 👌
Toyota makes indestructable engines. I was at a racing event in Canada. A guy who wad racing on track had the oldschool Lexus LS400. With a high mileage original engine. The car had stripped interior and carbon hood. With a tune on the engine. With oem cluster showing 455k km. I was like wtf thats insane.
Amazing !! Always good seeing an ISF pushed like it should be 😊

Amazing car, amazing piece of engineering. Kudos to Lexus.
IS-F's are crazy under rated machines. great video as always
Awesome... was my favorite car for so many years. Also, I lapped this around Nurburgring MANY times...in GT5 and 6!! :)
My landcruiser has 682.000km on 1HD FTE. And still clocks milage on sand dunes on weekends. Regular oil changes, and filters. Plus a check up at 240k
I have you beaten. 843k km on my Land cruiser 100 when I sold it 3 weeks ago. They guy who bought it said he had tried a lot of 100 series but many of them had weak engines even though the milage was low. Mine was always serviced ever 5,000 miles and still pulls like a train even though it was a work vehicle and pulled a lot of weight every single day. Best vehicle ever made.
@MD-uu5nt you certainly had a beast of a 100 by the sound of it. These engines were built different to the modern trash. And indeed the regular care is a huge factor long-term. Hope you don't get nostalgic after selling your cruiser!
@@MUSTAMOMO it was my dad who put up most of the mileage on it so it would be him getting nostalgic if anyone. I know the guy who bought it so maybe he will sell it back to me if we do get nostalgic.
It needed a lot of work to bring it back to good condition. The drivetrain and body was in good condition but everything else was fairly worn out. I think it would have needed to be stripped and new carpets, front seats, door cards, steering wheel, rear wiper and motor, fog lights etc. rear tail doors, new front wings were eaten with rust too. But the chassis was solid. It did a lot of work in it's time and helped us make good money.
@MD-uu5nt sounds like it was used as hard as a 79 series cruiser 😀. Only if that fourby could talk! It would have had stories to tell 😀
I am totally with you on that rebuild factor. Especially if rust is common in your side of the world.
Currently I am looking for a military spec G wagon to get kitted for remote touring. Contemplating what engine to go with for various factors. And is torn between a OM606 engine. Or the blasphemous HD engine in a Mercedes body hahahaha
this car sounds awesome and the 8speed auto seems to drive pretty good
pleasure to watch Misha drive that so quickly yet so smoothly👌

I had a G35 that I bought at 188k miles as a drift/beater car. Ended up becoming my daily drifter, touching redline everyday all day. Sold that car at 247k miles still running just as good as when I bought it. (Only thing I had to change was valve cover gasket and a new diff)
Makes me wish I kept my GSF. I had a ‘16 with non-adjustable suspension and the ride was bad, seats were too stiff. Truly a “test drive special”. But oh man, did it ever perform… got it up to 174mph and it felt so solid. Bonus as well - best sound system I have EVER heard.
