I have a 2014 LS460, now 10 years old. Around town 13 mpg and on the highway 25+ mpg. Other than a windshield wiper sensor that was replaced under warrantee many years ago, the car has been bullet proof with no other mechanical or other issues in 10 + years. I understand that you purchased a high milage vehicle. What did you expect? If you plan to drive locally and not on the highway, then expect poor mileage but a great ride with comfort and very good acceleration. On the highway, smooth and quiet. Given that this is a V8, 25+ mpg is not bad. My other car is a recent RC350 F-sport, which I thoroughly enjoy. I get 32-33 mpg on the highway. I wish you well in your endeavors.

My 2016 LS 460 is sitting at 199,244 miles and I will hit 200,000 this weekend. I think a lot of it comes down to the maintenance of the owner. I have been meticulous in my ownership since I bought it brand new and it has been flawless. I hope to hit 250,000 by it's 10th birthday and see what happens from there. Based on when I plan on retiring I should hit 500,000 miles with no problem. I am a Regional Manager for my company and average around 25,000 miles a year. Marty I'm so glad you were able to resolve the fuel injector issue! Every mechanic has been there, the impossible repair, that turns out to be something you'd never expect. It must have crossed your mind, that you got the car when you did, for the price you did (IDK what you paid for this car) because the previous owner couldn't resolve the problem either? I worked for a fleet for 30 years and saw a lot of huge mistakes, but nothing like this - wrong injectors fitted? This is the kind of thing I'd never even be prepared to find, let alone to fix. Also about the best "for lack of a nail" stories/automotive category, I ever heard.
I think many or most mechanics might never have detected that 8 (or 16? for owners who haven't gotten this far into the LS yet, the LS 460 uses 2 fuel injectors per cylinder, so when shopping parts 8 of those need to specify they are "port injectors") of the injectors had been replaced by the wrong type! It would have taken a really good mechanic to spot this problem. Turns out Marty is that really good mechanic... No wonder he was ready to dump the car!
Thanks for letting us ride along with you on the journey. I've got a 2011 LS460 so I get the appeal. These are thirst but are wonderful on long road trips. The mileage you're getting is really bad, though. Road trips should be seeing 25-27 mpg.
I'm really happy it worked, I was the guy who suggested it has to be the injectors from your last video... When a car misfires, emit black smokes and no obviously air leak with a smoke machine, with high positive or negative fuel trims.... It's the injectors... Now what I find weird about this Lexus design is on other cars it uses D.I for only higher speeds then port injection for low speed but in Lexus/toyota design they both work simultaneously even at idle speed the there's a D.I bias on higher speed... It's crazy. Enjoy your ride bro, happy motoring... Just be on top your maintenance and you're gold... Isn't as unreliable as the internet makes it seem.
Still reliable than most Americans or German cars. 😂 once he got this fixed, it will last even more miles unlike other cars that getting issues every months or weeks even.

Yaaaaay finally~~ That LS 460 looks stunning~ And I'm surprised that Lexus built such an unreliable vehicle, since it's Toyota/Lexus, it's supposed to be bulletproof reliable.
I would say it's unreliable compared to the standard benchmark Lexus is known for. However, outside of that scope, it is reliablie compared to the BMW 7 series, Mercedes S class and Audi A8 it competes with.
A lot of the bad reputation of the LS460 cars, is because some of the optional equipment packages, installed assemblies that later proved troublesome and/or expensive to fix. The optional air suspension was one of those. It was reliable, for a while, but pneumatic systems in general are not usually known for bullet-proof reliability. And when the air suspension broke, the repair cost (just one of the 4 air shock struts could cost almost $2,000) could often be more than the car might be worth. So a lot of those owners, faced with a fix-it or dump-it decision, opted to switch back to a conventional suspension (the kit to do this is about $1,000, or, one could simply unplug the Suspension Control ECU and get roughly the same result, but free). I bought my 2017 LS in May 2023. It is rear wheel drive (vs all wheel drive and all its added hardware), and without air suspension. If it had either of those things I would have bought another car instead.

I’ve seen it on forums and heard it from a few people. Relative to other models I’ve owned, it has the most known issues and needs more maintenance. I went into it knowing that, having fixed up many cars, but didn’t expect it to fight me along the way lol.

@@MartyMotoring whatever floats man! Cool deal 👍🏼 Thought you were a diehard for these as some of us may be, so I was bummed you put me through a journey to announce you don’t want to keep it in the future
True, it was just the direct injectors plus all the gaskets and valley plate which was pretty involved due to all the labor. But I faced leaks, troubleshooting and bad injectors along the way so it wasn’t as straight forward as it seems, and the codes led me to believe other things were wrong along the way. For example, the throttle body connector broke so I have to wires up a new pigtail for that. The plastic gets so brittle unfortunately and little things like that set me back.

How much are you selling it for ??
I never heard anyone mention the LS460 is the least reliable Lexus... Not sure where you got that from. The most expensive to Maintain, yes that I heard a lot.
I’ve seen it on forums and heard it from a few people. Relative to other models I’ve owned, it has the most known issues and needs more maintenance. I went into it knowing that, having fixed up many cars, but didn’t expect it to fight me along the way lol.
@@MartyMotoringi thought that was only the ls460 before the facelift, but your video solidifies that it also applies to the double facelift model 13+ years
I'm looking at a 2008 LS460 that has an engine knock. Only $4,000 and a used engine is about $1,000 my thing is time... how much time to replace the engine without a car lift? Anybody have an idea?
1.5k but the labor is provbably 5k -10k worth of hours since it tooook almost a year. Good luck if you can sell for value back you spent.
I added it up, and it’s like 11-12 Saturdays over the last 8 months, maybe a 4-5 hours each go. Plus filming. Time wise, it was free technically, although I couldn’t imagine paying a shop all the hours lol.
I will never get back what I put in though, sadly. Just how it goes with cars
how much u want for it ?
sell it. you might break even with all the work you did. take the money and invest it.
Yeah I’m hoping to break even - unfortunately it’s a small car loan so I won’t make anything back to invest
How much??
I'm interested in it, if nobody has claimed it
You waiting 30 minutes to fill up the car? I've given up on Costco gas unless it's first thing in the morning, or the last thing at night.
Usually don’t wait too long but I was in the area and it’s about 40 cents cheaper so I waited 😅
How much r u asking for
How much for the Lexus LS 460
Looking for $14k
How much you want ???
How much
Remember cash is king…invest don’t trade
Definitely
How much you want for it?
$14,500…Contactmartymotoring@gmail.com
wait 14-16 mpg for AWD, i had a 2014 ls460l and was rwd and easily had 20-24 mpg. also have the 07-09 ls460l and same 20-22 mpg
Yeah I mostly get 16 with my local driving but it’ll do better on the highway if I reset it
Why have two of the same car? How much better is the facelift car?
Selling…. 🤔
But that MPG 😂
Wife may love or absolutely hate me.
Yeah the mpg isn’t great 😅
@@MartyMotoringwhy sell something you basically raised as your own?
This car is not for everybody 💰 you need money so don't recommend it for you😂 mine is so beautiful and is going to last with me ❤
Exactly on point , 🎉
I’m the guy that doesn’t like spending a lot on repairs and would rather do it myself. Cars are depreciating assets…That’s why I buy Lexus to begin with 😅 They retain value. The $6000 I saved can pay for a lot of upgrades at my house 😎
@@MartyMotoring whatever floats man! Cool deal 👍🏼
Thought you were a diehard for these as some of us may be, so I was bummed you put me through a journey to announce you don’t want to keep it in the future
The only reason to buy a Lexus is reliability. If it is not there like the LS460, it is pretty much worthless.
i am interested to buy it
Contactmartymotoring@gmail.com
Flip it now
I’ll probably lose money but want to find a buyer who will enjoy it and take care of it
Lexus still wins when comparing the fixing cost to my evo 10 lol.
I can only imagine lol
Realistically this wasn’t that big of an issue and was likely messed up from a previous repair, you just spent a lot on guessing the issue.
I'm getting 24 on the hwy Idk what he's talking about
I get like 16, could be due to the mileage
Sell it to me!
yessirrrrrrrrrrrr
Love the look of the car, mate! I totally agree-sedans are the best for me too.
Jaguar XF 32 mpg
Kill the music…great presentation
Sell it and get some money back. 100%
i change my mind i want to go to buy Toyota Avalon 😂😅
Bro fixed it just to end up selling smh
I’ve kept this longer than my average vehicle which is 9 months before I get bored 😂 Vehicle ADHD
@@MartyMotoring I don’t like that symptom lol but cool deal!
Wow all that work just to sale it 🤦🏻
Next upload will be something majorly wrong with my Lexus again😅
So far so good! Lol

how much are you selling it for?!
