Have you seen pictures of the Taylor Swift concert in Munich this month? Not that I want to compare her to S&G in any way 😜. 70.000 people in the stadion, 70.000 on the hill behind in the Olympia Park. All peaceful, calm, happy! I went to a festival style concert of a hip hop artist few weeks ago in a mid sized town, 30.000 people of literally all ages swinging and singing in the evening summer sun. Just to say: there is still hope for humanity, and music still unites the masses!
@@mercatorjubio3804 Forgot I wrote this. Thank you. Yes, they were a celestial duo, brothers for eternity. I don't know if they've ever been given enough credit for what they produced. Stay well, friend.
Musicians have this uncanny ability to keep the tune going almost no matter the distraction. It's amazing...they're self-trained to the level of soldiers.
I know it. When that man jumped on stage as Paul was singing "The Late Great Johnny Ace", even though he was a bit shaken, I said out loud, "Wow, he didn't miss a beat.".

I really enjoyed listening to this. When I was a little girl my mom had a "hippy party" and we all got to stay up late and dance to Simon and Garfunkel! Mom made us hippy costumes and the four of us kids had the best time that night! My brother and I were playing guitar last friday night and did a couple of their tunes, my brother brought up this memory. Isn't it wonderful mom made that memory for us and gave us the love of this music!
I was 26 and worked with a Rhode Island theater that was hired to build part of the set for this concert. I got to drive a truck with set pieces to Philadelphia to pick up the last materials and take them to Central Park that morning. The Stage Manager offered for me to stay for the concert but that would have meant about an 8 hour wait and I'd been working/travelling for a couple of days so I said no, thanks though I love S&G. I've always a little bit regretted that I didn't find a way to stay for this, but I helped build and deliver their set, so there's that!
This teo guys are telling a story by singing !! Beautiful words, beautiful melody, beautiful voice, they are eternal !! unlike todays untalented...half naked.. shouting and screaming !!
There is some element of the song "America" that we have all experienced. I too am still moved by it, inspired by it and haunted by it. There is no American songbook without Simon & Garfunkel.
When I first visited the United States for study from Japan in 1983, I went to their concert in a football stadium in the outskirts of Boston during the summer school at Harvard. I am 67 years old. After all these years, their music is still on top of my list.
I may be from Canada but I always loved hearing their hits on my transistor AM radio. Prompted me to purchase their Albums to play on Mom & Dad's stereo. BTW-I M 67 y.o. too.

Art Garfunkel is truly one of the greatest singers of all time! And along with Paul Simon produced so many memorable music classics. Their harmonies are simply legendary!
Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel are geniuses. Art has such a beautiful voice makes me feel so good whenI hear it. April Come She Will my favorite beautifully written by Paul and so beautifully sung by my boy Art.
Yeah. Paul is a GREAT songwriter and musician - a national treasure!! But,... Art Garfunkel is a PERFECT singer. He so reminds me of Graham Nash (or vice-versa).
I am a fifty year old canadian. My friends listened to Metallica and I listened to gordon lightfoot, rush and simon and Garfunkel. My friends moms were impressed with my music choices.
@@planes3333 The only song I ever liked by Metallica wasn't even theirs: it was the Irish folk song Whiskey in the Jar (taught to them by one of Thin Lizzy guitarists).
I'm watching this concert for the sixth time Paul & Art harmonize and complement each other so well and sound so well live! Absolutely flawless!!!! Thanks guys!! Still crazy after all these years!!
No question that these two were very talented indeed. They were fine singers and top notch lyric writers. Half a million woah! Wagner and Verdi must be green with envy.
At the 1:04 point (during the Boxer) when they sing the line “after changes we are more or less the same” you can tell Paul is thinking about their relationship and he’s filled with emotions and he smiles. Without even seeing that, Art puts his hand on Paul’s back telling him that he feels it too. Gives me all the feels. ❤

If you come across this message, may your day be filled with serenity and happiness. The world can be overwhelming at times, but your kindness and compassion are a constant source of comfort and inspiration. There are always people who support and cherish your wonderful presence.
Simon and Garfunkel have been a part of my life for a long time they definitely have god-given talents and they have shared them with us throughout the years❤❤❤
2 nice Jewish boys appearing before 500,000 people in a park in New York and not a banner, flag, knife, not a megaphone to be seen, only love for 2 great musicians! You'd never get that today!
Stop with the Doom and gloom. Yes, it was a great concert but things were not that much better back in the day. Enjoy what we have today.
@@seaturtledog Amen
@@dannyd5727Taylor Swift is a joke.
And just around the corner John Lennon lives! Rock on...🏄🎸🥁😍🤗🎶🍷🌊😎🎨🏞️☺️🥰
Outstanding performance from Simon&Garfunkel.
You know it wasnt perfect, but I want to live in that world.
I lived in those days and it wasn't perfect (we had Nixon and the Vietnam war) but it was light-years better than now.
@@susanmercurio1060 sheesh you said it sister
@@susanmercurio1060 This was 1981. Nixon and Viet Nam were long over. We had Reagan though, and that might have been worse.
@@ecpc12345 Yes, I realized after I wrote it that it was after Vietnam, etc.
But Reagan WAS worse, not "might have been."

When Garfunkel intuitively puts his hand on Paul's back at about the one hour mark. Killer. After all the changes, we are more or less the same ...
replayed that a couple of times, gives me goosebumps - despite everything, they are still brothers, somehow
I’m a pro touring musician.
It’s a combination of “the show must go on” and just being locked in to the task at hand. Stopping cold is an absolute no no.
It was like the universe was feeling the pain of John getting ripped away so senselessly….Yeah, that dude was probably nuts but I totally understood his pan….
@@patton303 They're pros. They don't let anything distract them.
So, you were a simple layman 😢
@@wadesaleeby2172 laywoman! :)
Szerintem ez a ő legjobb koncertjük. Mindig visszatérek hozzájuk.Felüdülést jelent nekem.
Love bridge over troubled water .
This teo guys are telling a story by singing !! Beautiful words, beautiful melody, beautiful voice, they are eternal !! unlike todays untalented...half naked.. shouting and screaming !!
"And the moon rose over an open field" Still gets to me 54 years later for some reason....
I bet it was magical! ❤🌙✨🎶
There is some element of the song "America" that we have all experienced. I too am still moved by it, inspired by it and haunted by it.
There is no American songbook without Simon & Garfunkel.
When asked what his favorite lyric he ever wrote, Paul said, “And the moon rose over an open field.” ❤️
When I first visited the United States for study from Japan in 1983, I went to their concert in a football stadium in the outskirts of Boston during the summer school at Harvard. I am 67 years old. After all these years, their music is still on top of my list.
That sounds nice
You are lucky !
I may be from Canada but I always loved hearing their hits on my transistor AM radio. Prompted me to purchase their Albums to play on Mom & Dad's stereo. BTW-I M 67 y.o. too.
Harvard people can’t help mentioning they went to Harvard ;)
I was at this free concert that was held on the great lawn in central park on September 19th 1981 with 500,000 people in attendance and me and my girlfriend had a great time. I was 22 years old at the time 😎
I was 24, I feel like you are my brother now, we lived through societies best days
I wasn't born around this time but i grew up listening to this song. im 34 and i love this song and always helps me get through my troubles and life.
Art Garfunkel is truly one of the greatest singers of all time! And along with Paul Simon produced so many memorable music classics.
Their harmonies are simply legendary!
get real. on his own he recorded nothing memorable
Simon and Garfunkel are and always will be the best ever in music. We love them!
Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel are geniuses. Art has such a beautiful voice makes me feel so good whenI hear it. April Come She Will my favorite beautifully written by Paul and so beautifully sung by my boy Art.
And Artie singing lead on American Tune is so special and perfect. That's the way that song should have always been
I cry when I see them sing this. Art puts his hands on Paul’s back.
S&G's GREATEST SHOW ON EARTH.
Yeah. Paul is a GREAT songwriter and musician - a national treasure!! But,...
Art Garfunkel is a PERFECT singer. He so reminds me of Graham Nash (or vice-versa).
Both influenced by the Everly Brothers.
I am a fifty year old canadian. My friends listened to Metallica and I listened to gordon lightfoot, rush and simon and Garfunkel. My friends moms were impressed with my music choices.
67 Yrs old here. Hoping for new REAL talent to emerge.
As good as this.
These are fine musicians and your choices match mine. Forget about Metallica!
@@Mel-k8v1w Ha ha yeah I here you. Metallica does have a couple good tunes as well though. Rush blows them out of the water though musically.
@@planes3333 The only song I ever liked by Metallica wasn't even theirs: it was the Irish folk song Whiskey in the Jar (taught to them by one of Thin Lizzy guitarists).
They almost never look at each other, and sing from seemingly two different planes of existence, yet harmonize perfectly
I was there, but couldn't see them. So glad I found this!
I'm watching this concert for the sixth time Paul & Art harmonize and complement each other so well and sound so well live! Absolutely flawless!!!! Thanks guys!! Still crazy after all these years!!
Something very moving about this concert. I can only imagine what a nostalgia it is for Americans?
No Autotune back then just pure talent from Legends!!!!!😊❤
Simon and Garfunkel are my favorite poets. The music is so angelic.
I was there. Just a kid from Canada in the middle of that roaring crowd. Fantastic.
Lucky you. Who are you? Where are you from? How old were you then and how old are you now? How did you end up attending that concert?
No question that these two were very talented indeed. They were fine singers and top notch lyric writers. Half a million woah! Wagner and Verdi must be green with envy.
At the 1:04 point (during the Boxer) when they sing the line “after changes we are more or less the same” you can tell Paul is thinking about their relationship and he’s filled with emotions and he smiles. Without even seeing that, Art puts his hand on Paul’s back telling him that he feels it too. Gives me all the feels. ❤
1:04:10 not 1:04, an hour, three minutes and 6 seconds later.
Ones of the best concert in the history of music industry (my personal opinion)
Simon and Garfunkel music brings sunshine.
Remembering a less complicated life back then.
Thank you for uploading. Appreciated.
Beautiful music. They were so young.
Funny, I thought they were "old" at the time since they'd been so popular in the Sixties. And I was 20. I'd always loved their music, but I thought they were my parents' generation. Now they look so freaking young to me.
Their voices just naturally blend perfectly. After all these years. Magical concert
The time, perfection was on stage, without being perfect - but real! What a band ..... 12/10
One day, in the not too distant future...another reunion will be impossible. PLEASE DO IT!!!!
I was there. the best performance .I don't think they ever really Hated eachother
One of my Favorite bands of all time. Your music live on forever in the hearts and souls of us who enjoyed you.
Great concert🎵✨

1:03:40 This is why Simon and Garfunkel are the GREATEST DUO of all time.
The Everly Brothers were pretty good too.
Paul i love you
And so do I
I was only 11 yrs old when i first heared of them and their songs. Have been following and enjoying them since then.
I was 11 too, when I first saw the concert, back in 1982, and became a fan, especially of Paul Simon.
Simply fantastic!!!
This is one of those precious moments where everything in the Universe aligns just right so the world and all of its problems cease to exist for Everyone in Central Park for the next hour and a half. And not even "Charlie Brown with Snoopy" will be able to ruin it. The "Magic" of Music lol :)
It was raining most of the day but cleared up just in time for the concert. Amazing.
OUR BEAUTIFUL HISTORY!!!!
IDK any better harmonizing than these 2 on Scarborough hill. Pure magic by masters
The song is titled "Scarborough Fair," and the thyme is not the kind Croce put in a bottle...
Did Paul write this song? It seems like a song from days when fair maidens were about in Merry Ole England. 😍☺️🥰🎶🍷🌊🤗
@@wadesaleeby2172 English folk song, I believe. Paul wrote the lyrics to Canticle part of it
