Biking the World’s "MOST DANGEROUS" Country (El Salvador) - Day 6/7

- My goal is to change the perception of El Salvador. Welcome to my journey as I attempt to ride my bike across the entire country of El Salvador. El Salvador has been consistently ranked as having the most murders per capita in the entire world, leading El Salvador to acquire the perception of being the "most dangerous country in the world". When most people hear “El Salvador”, their mind likely jumps to negative thoughts like murder and gang activity, but I KNOW there are beautiful places to see and kind people to meet in El Salvador.
Despite what I have heard in the news about El Salvador, I decided to purchase a bike in San Salvador, the capital city of El Salvador, and attempt to bike across the entire country. My goal is to meet and understand the local people and form my own opinions of “the world’s most dangerous country”. During my bike trip across El Salvador, I’m hoping to discover what the media doesn't show us, a beautiful country filled with a beautiful culture and people. I'm hoping to create El Salvador news that is positive.
When I told others I was going to travel El Salvador, most people told me I needed to be careful. Most people said they wouldn’t visit El Salvador, let alone ride their bike alone across the world’s "most dangerous" country. Most people only know El Salvador through the lens of the media, and view El Salvador as a dangerous country to travel to and visit, especially as a tourist. However, I hope that my journey traveling El Salvador in 2022 can change perceptions of the country and even more, encourage you to challenge your preconceived ideas of El Salvador and form your own opinions of “the world’s most dangerous country”.
Of course, before traveling El Salvador, like any other country in the world, I would encourage everyone to research the country’s current situation beforehand to remain safe and optimize your time in the country.
After biking 5 kilometers in the wrong direction to start Day 6, I finally hit a groove and stop for breakfast in the town of San Martin. After a few quick El Salvadoran pupusas, a pastry, and a coffee, I sit down and figure out my game plan for the day, which is to bike to the colonial town of Suchitoto. A few kilometers past San Martin, I hear a lot of loud noise and music, so I decide to pull over on the side of the road to see what is happening. Little did I know, I would meet more kind El Salvadorans and end up attending the most unique Sunday Church ceremony I have ever experienced. After saying goodbye to my new friends, I continue biking toward Suchitoto. After arriving in Suchitoto, I go straight to the local market to get some lunch. The next day, I decide to take a rest day in Suchitoto to let my body recover and allow myself some extra time to explore my favorite place in El Salvador. Suchitoto is the most beautiful place in El Salvador with tons of charming cobblestone streets and colorful homes.
So far I have felt extremely safe traveling El Salvador and am overwhelmed by the kindness and hospitality I am experiencing from the locals. I can't wait to continue exploring the country!

I could see El Salvador potentially becoming much a prosperous country, a success story similar to Singapore.
El Salvador is a beautiful country with so much potential!
Glad you and Douglas are having a great journey!😀
So far so good!
El Salvador is no longer the most dangerous country in the world, on the other hand is the most gorgeous country in the world, welcome to the smiling country and friendly people.!!!!
I completely agree, El Salvador is a beautiful and kind country full of friendly people! Thanks Gustavo!
Your title is misleading, El Salvador is no longer anywhere near the most dangerous country in the world
Its like " the gayest guy in the world biking through El Salvador"

What a nice little town you got there, Matt 😀
Suchitoto really is beautiful!
@@MattKramerTravels Cant agree more, may God bless you on your beautiful adventure 🥰
Suchitoto is the most beautiful, colonial town in El Salvador. It is gorgeous among the hills and by the huge lake. Art galleries, hostels in old colonial homes, amazing restaurants….
I couldn't agree more Dennis! Suchitoto is so beautiful!
Wow....next time l want to visit that restaurant CASA 1800 and enjoy that spectacular view of the lake Sulchitlan 😀 👌 😎 😊 😍
I hope you do visit next time Ruth!
Your data is wrong, WAS one of the most dangerous country of the world, now is one of Latin America's safest country.
Sulchitoto is my favorite city too.......it's has a beautiful waterfall and the lake Sulchitlan l recommend
Yes! It is really beautiful!
those places were very dangerous in the Capital "suburbios"
Thanks for the heads up!
The rim got damaged on the potholes and needed to be replaced for a brand new rim, especially because you were traveling throughout the country.
Yes, thank you!

Gracias Fabio!
i will bring my rollerblades to el salvador soon!!!
Ya ví varios de tus videos en El Salvador, y en este aparece el municipio donde vivo, San Martin.
Muchas gracias Evert!
SUCHITOTO IS , OMG
Me encanta Suchitoto tambien!
Yo estuve alli en el 85
Que chivo Edgar!
Please correct the title of these video. You are defaiming a country that opened the doors for you.
What he is doing is showing a different view of what the media says. The title maybe misleading, but then by watching the video and the interactions that he has with everyday people is nothing but.
@@MM-ox5go there's already hundreds of "dispelling the myth" "traveling the MOST DANGEROUS" tiktoker type videos on UA-cam
It's just patronizing and condescending
The country might be dangerous but it's not yemen or haiti, the roads in El Salvador are amongst the best in the region with cheap food and refreshments everywhere and police if needed and the guy acts like he's biking through south sudan
El Salvador for.me isn't really dangerous bc I love the my country
El Salvador is a beautiful country!
The title of the video makes me feel so disgusting, you already seen it the people is so lovely and they always help. But we’ll I understand that you need viewers.
Hace unos 3 ańos era muy peligro
Ahora es todo lo contrario
Gracias por compartir eso Roberto! El Salvador es un pais hermoso!
Really cool video! As Salvadorean, I cannot be any happier to see someone projecting his experience there from the most neutral perspective. There is one thing, I highly doubt El Salvador is the World´s "MOST DANGEROUS" Country (yeah, in capital letters and quotation marks). There is data that confirmed that in the past and sadly happened for long period of time. Not sure how have you come up with that? I am afraid everything you portray in your video goes to the garbage once people who are not familiar with this topic run into your videos and see its title. I'm trying to be as objective as possible, thanks for your understanding.
Thanks for sharing Alfonso! My goal with this video series is to share the other side of El Salvador that cannot be seen in the media. El Salvador is a beautiful country! The quotation marks are meant to show that I don't agree with the title of Most Dangerous.
@@MattKramerTravels thanks for responding. I guess I got it wrong then. I would´ve left it with a question mark instead.
O think is sarcastic his highlights, that’s what I want to think
Should change your title El Salvador is different now
El Salvador isn't the most dangerous country in the world you might want to change the title. You want dangerous go to Mexico bud.
What he is showing by doing these videos is the opposite of what El Salvador was a few years ago. I hope that the people who get to see these videos would take a chance to come over to see by themselves that is not always true what the media says.
I really hate when they call it “the most dangerous country” just to get more views, that’s so unfair 👎🏻
My goal with this video series is to show another side of El Salvador that the media doesn't share, that El Salvador is beautiful with kind people. I used quotation marks in the title on purpose.
El Salvador is not dangerous anymore thanks to the government is safe for anyone that wants to visit El Salvador
Enjoy my country...(just change the title...is NO longer the most dangerous)...cheers..
Thank you! My goal with this video series is to share the side of El Salvador that mainstream media doesn't show, the beautiful and kind side to the country! I used quotation marks in the title on purpose
Please please!!!!
Change your title Name ..
My goal in this video series is to share the side of El Salvador that isn't shared in mainstream media, the beautiful and kind side. I used quotation marks in the title on purpose.
@@MattKramerTravels I know you used “ but some people don’t understand that they just go with the Title name without watching the video.
BROTH MY COUNTRY IS NOT DANGEROUS… STOP USING THAT TITLE…
My goal with this video series is to show another side of El Salvador that the media doesn't share, that El Salvador is beautiful with kind people. I used quotation marks in the title on purpose.
Matt, please remove The Tittle of your material. It is offensive is Los Salvadoreńos.
Don’t put our countries reputation down, just for you to get LIKES… this is VERY IRE-SPECTFUL TO OUR COUNTRY El Salvador
My goal with this video series is to show another side of El Salvador that the media doesn't share, that El Salvador is beautiful with kind people. I used quotation marks in the title on purpose.
