$10 Challenge in TASHKENT, UZBEKISTAN (Impossible to Spend $10 Here!)

- In this Uzbekistan travel vlog I take you with me as I explore Tashkent, Uzbekistan, Uzbekistan’s capital and largest city. In this Tashkent Uzbekistan travel guide, I challenge myself to discover what I can get for $10 in my $10 challenge, which is equivalent to about 100,000 Uzbek Som. To start my Tashkent Uzbekistan travel vlog, I go to the Chorsu Bazaar, which is a local market with tons of fruits, vegetables, Uzbek food, breads, and more. No travel to Tashkent and Tashkent Uzbekistan city tour is complete without a trip to the Chorsu Bazaar. After wandering around the Chorsu Market in Tashkent Uzbekistan, I buy some fresh pomegranate juice for $1.5. After enjoying my fresh fruit juice, I walk over to the bakery section of the bazaar where I learn how the fresh Uzbek bread is made, which was one of my favorite experiences throughout my Tashkent travel vlog.
Next on my Tashkent Uzbekistan travel guide, I go to the Central Asian Plov Center to eat some delicious plov! Plov is a local Uzbek dish with rice, vegetables, eggs, meat and more, and it’s absolutely delicious. For the best plov you have to go to the Plov Center in Tashkent Uzbekistan, where you can also see how the plov is made. After trying horse meat for the first time and enjoying my Uzbek plov, the next stop on my Tashkent Uzbekistan vlog was to the Hazrat Imam complex, which is home to some of the most incredible architecture in Tashkent.
Next on my Tashkent travel guide, I decided to take the Tashkent subway as the metro system is extremely famous in Tashkent Uzbekistan. For about 14 cents you can buy a metro ticket to go anywhere in the entire city of Tashkent Uzbekistan. What makes the metro and subway system so special in Tashkent is the incredible design and architecture inside the metro stations. The colors, columns, mosaics and designs of the metro stations are absolutely remarkable in Tashkent Uzbekistan. When you travel to Tashkent Uzbekistan, taking the metro is a must!
Next on my Tashkent Uzbekistan 4k vlog, I visited the famous Hotel Uzbekistan, which is a Soviet style hotel with tons and tons of rooms and windows. Hotel Uzbekistan is an interesting place to walk around, and I even got a coffee at the hotel bar. Visiting Hotel Uzbekistan should definitely be on your Tashkent travel guide. Next on my Tashkent Uzbekistan 4k travel guide, I went to a local bakery to try some Uzbek treats before ending the night on a pedestrian street in Tashkent where I indulged in a Turkish style ice cream.
I hope you enjoyed my Tashkent Uzbekistan travel vlog and found this Tashkent travel guide useful for your future trip!

Hi Matt--I absolutely love your videos. I was in Uzbekistan for several years with the Peace Corps back in the late 1990s and all of these videos of Samarkand, Bukhara, Khiva and especially Tashkent are making me very nostalgic and making me smile with such wonderful memories. Enjoy your time with the warm and kind people of Uzbekistan!
Thanks so much Pat! I’m sure you had an incredible experience in Uzbekistan, the culture and people are really special!
Thank God that the then President of Uzbekistan did not go along with the Americans. No one needs all sorts of "peace corps" .... Why don't the Americans leave all the countries alone, don't impose their way of life, figure it out for yourself, don't come with your ideas. Just come visit.
@@MattKramerTravels For a long time , photo and video shooting was prohibited in the Tashkent metro , it was even written in the rules of use of the subway . Police officers and those on duty at the station asked to immediately delete the pictures taken in the subway. But on June 1 , 2018 , the ban on photo and video shooting was lifted as the new government of Uzbekistan begins to develop tourism in Uzbekistan . The Tashkent metro is used by metro trains of the 81-717 /714 series produced at the Mytishchi car building plant in the 70s and 80s, as well as metro trains of the 81-718/719 series produced at the Mytishchi car building plant in 2001. And modern metro trains of the series also run 81-765/766/767 moscow produced by the Mytishchi car building plant

@@sunnatmuqimov3154 what did you mean by that? If about my comment about the Tashkent metro , then there really used to be a ban on photo and video shooting , even it was written in the rules of use of the Tashkent metro , since the Tashkent metro is also an object of civil defense like all the subways of the former USSR .
Uzbekistan is becoming a very popular destination for bloggers from all over the world. One can find tons of videos from their trips to our ancient cities. And, thanks to globalization, Americans and visitors of the United States can enjoy Uzbek cuisine in New York city, for example, in the "Tashkent" supermarket, which is located at Brooklyn.
I can see why so many people want to visit Uzbekistan, thank you!

Uzbekistan is a hidden gem! It’s definitely one of the best countries we’ve been to.
It is! I'm so glad you've had the chance to visit too!
Hey Mat! Welcome to Uzbekistan, I hope you enjoyed your travel! Really sorry and sad that some people tried to sell the pomegranate juice for 85.000 sums, as it's actual price is 10.000-15.000 sums. I don't like people who put high prices for tourists... next time please find someone to help you buying things here😁. In fact, uzbek people are the best at hospitality and very heartfelt🙂😃. I'm really happy to see this video, wish you the best of luck!
Your friend from Khiva, Khorezm! 😇
Thanks so much for your note! I also found the people in Uzbekistan incredibly kind and friendly!
Hi, there. Yeah, there are some people as you have said. This is sad. And also, I think the metro price is 1 500 sum(0.15$). 48 000 is incredible high🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️.
I miss Uzbek food and fruit. I’m fond of besh Kazan plov❤️.
I recommend that you must buy atto card 💳 (1.5$). Then you put some money. It is suitable for bus(0.17$)and metro(0.17$). No one can hint you. So, you will pay legally. (Sorry, my English isn’t good)
He bought it for 1,5 usd as its price. The money you saw it is how much homey he has left 85$ out of 100. I guess.
It is 10$ challenge bro, you saw 85.000 sum it is left out of 100.000. listen carefully. There is nobody who put fancy prices for tourists )
I am very glad that you liked Uzbekistan come again we will be very happy

I love seeing more recent videos of Central Asian countries, these people have so much to be proud of and the area itself has a bit of everything: history, architecture, food, amazing landscapes and people. I'll be heading there soon and Uzbekistan will be the starting point, so I'm watching this video with great interest for the spots your are going to.
However, it's hard not being slightly disappointed by the focus on the cheapness of a destination. There are some historical and political reasons why their economies are to the ground and calling everything cheap does not bring them pride and doesn't make anyone feel good about it. I'm pretty sure they'd love to have an economy that allows them to make enough money to travel the world just like you. Plus, it will only do them worse since it will attract the kind of budget traveler that will most probably take more than he will be able to give back to these countries.
Just giving you food for thought since there is a bit of ethical question here when making such videos; when you're coming from a 1st world country it's hard to see this angle. I remember watching another popular youtuber making similar comments about products being super cheap, went into the butcher store and asked for the best sausage they have so he can feed the dogs on the street for fun. Just because... even the expensive stuff is cheap for him. Now imagine being that proud butcher that wakes at 4 AM everyday to put the best product on the shelfs, working your a** off everyday, then some westerner comes and takes a piss at it.
$ challenges just ain't cool when traveling to a developing country, it takes away so much from the curiosity of seeing and discovering something new while I'm sure there is so much better things to focus on. I hope this provides you a different angle on this matter. All the best on your future vids!
Thanks for your thoughts Andrei. I agree, Uzbekistan and the Central Asian region is incredibly beautiful and special. To your point, I apologize as I did not intend for my video to come across this way. But rather to show the diversity of what you can experience in Tashkent, using the cost of the goods as a theme throughout the video to show travelers that it's possible to visit Uzbekistan even without a large budget, as the cost of goods in a country can sometimes be a hinderance to traveling to a specific place. However, I completely understand your perspective and appreciate you sharing, perhaps adjusting the theme in the future could be nice. Cheers!
Watching from Uzbekistan, I am not even slightly offended. In fact we have some pride that Tashkent is one of the cheapest cities in the world to live in)
@@user-el8xs7ep3u Despite prices, Tashkent is a really cool city to explore!
