F-16c Thunderbird - I was thinking that, too, when I saw the seas on the buoy! Lol
Lmao
I’m just glad I found your channel man, I think MA will be my Job in Navy.
Me too. I love medicine but corpsman is one of the hardest rates to make rank.
Amadeus2248 how come it’s so hard ? I know for the asvab you have to get atleast a 50. 😩 I really like medicine and I feel like that would be the best job for after serving
@@zemaria8896 because corpsman is the biggest rate in the navy
@@Amadeus-ni3et I thought the bigger the rate the more leaders they need. Aka promotion
Germain Giroud same I’m actually really excited for my future now cause I know what I wanna do
Keep pushing out them good videos MA2. Using your channel as a reference for my transition from a Marine to Sailor. Take it easy.
“Most Navy bases are on the water” who would have guessed.
yeah right. won't hold me breathe, thinking they don't have underground h2o bases … let alone some type of "unauthorized" space force . the navy been dealing w/ this world & other world(s) folks longer then any1 else
I thought the exact same thing! Lol
Why did this make me laugh bruh

nice edit yo
thanks my dudddeeeee

nice! Like to see jtsuits supporting the younger channels! On my way to MEPS today!
@@AustenAlexander Are there any Navy jobs where you would be on a small boat like your job?
This is awesome thank you , I’m joining the navy soon ,my recruiter and I choose my job to be a MA , you help a lot !!!
awesome! I appreciate it and good luck
Hooyah brother! I'm an OS, but I love what y'all MAs do!! Be great!!
Just found your channel. Great content so far. I was career Army, 20 years as an MP. Great to see different military services and some of the differences between them.
Hi Gary i have a question for the age requirement to be an MP. Is 19 old enough to serve as military law enforcement
@@kahlilkredell9324 yes , it is. There is no specific "age requirement " for MP's.
@@cowbyupnow1 sweet thank you, I was worried since with civilian police you have to be 21
This helped, going to bootcamp on the 26th of September as an Ma😩
Good! You will be okay. Just listen to what you're told lol
I'm going on the 10th as an Ma... im psyched
Briana Bloom good luck😬👍🏾hopefully you’ll see me later on
good luck guys!!!!
Leaving this Thursday, sucks how my leg is hurting. I think it’s shin splints.
Recruiter: You get to carry guns and drive boats and shit
Me: what’s up boss man, you got your ID for me?
Haha 100 percent correct. Don't let this fool you 99.9999 percent chance u will be a gate donkey bored out of your mind.....not a fake SEAL or anything else cool
But you can advance your career and probably end up working harbor
Nice video as usual, Austen! You’re a natural when it comes to talking to the camera. Very informative!! Keep em coming!
Darin Nicole thanks Darin!! You’re an inspiration to me and thanks for all the help!!
I’m thinking of going MA, I’m not incredibly quick at memorization and I’m pretty introverted and quiet and I’m not very assertive. But I am good at understanding rules and following them and this is why I think I would do a good job at MA. Holding myself to a standard and helping others also reach that standard as well. What do you think? Thanks for the video!
Tom Cunnington I would say to stop sweating the small stuff! As long as you can comprehend/learn things you will adjust fine. I was an introvert and always shy when I first joined...now people can’t get me to shut up 😂
Glad people similar to me are going for the same job that’s cool
I want to be an MA to
I live in San Diego California you think I might be stationed here ?
You and I are the same person huh
@@TEISD it's a possibility
Austen you’re videos are great man. You really know how to enjoy your time in the navy and you know how to extend that enjoyment to us. I was so hoping I would get this rate, and I did. I ship to basic in April and I’m ready man!
Thank you for your service, I served 10 yrs as a AD, but did tad at NAF Detroit working with the navy security police force on base and I loved it. I spent 4 yrs at PMTC Pt Mugu with VP-65 and another 4 yrs at NAS North Island with HSL-45. I put in for maa school and then duty station back at Pt Mugu which was all accepted and I was so happy that I got the orders I wanted, But then at the time (1990) I was a single parent and my daughter begged me to not re enlist and accept the orders because she did not want me to go away anymore on deployments which I did with HSL-45. So I gave up my career in the Navy to be with my daughter . I still wonder to this day how my life would have been if I stayed in and pursued my goal of law enforcement. I wanted to use my Navy experience as a spring board to the government level of security. Keep up the good work!
You went to some awesome places!! I appreciate the support and comment!
I'm planning on joining the U.S. navy always want to do since I was little i am going to join the master at arms
It's a good goal to have my friend. Just don't listen to the negativity around you. There's a lot in the Navy
Hey man thanks This is one of the options I am using for when I go into the Navy. This is actually what I want the most
did you ever get it
can't wait to do this. just ONE more year!
How is it
so glad to have stumbled upon this!
Thank you Austen!
I ship for MA September 18th :)
How exciting!! Be sure to keep me updated when you get out of boot camp!! Good Luck Brooklyn!
I will for sure :) Thank you very much!
@@werejustwingnit How did it go?! I’m wanting to go MA but people’s comments are making me think twice.
Lemoore was my first duty station. I was assigned to SeaOpDet 8 on the Enterprise. That was back in the 80s.
This is what I’m hoping to do as well! Signing in March
Dna Drewzy did you sign up
I love you videos . You bring all information about you job is amazing. Thanks for you shared. Keep up.
Congratulations on your new job!
thanks!
I live 30 minutes from Lemoore lol I got on that base all the time for work, but enlisted to navy with asvab score of 60 today I sign more paper work
Hanford or Fresno?
Johnny Bravo?
Can officers become MAs, or whatever the equivalent is on their side?
yes they are called Security Officer and you will be in charge of a security department
@@cameromnartin No, they are like a boss who sets all the logistics up for the MAs to go on patrol and shit.
@@cameromnartin Yes they still wear a badge. Very difficult to become a Security officer unless you are prior enlisted and switch over. It's a very small community for officers.
Only if prior Enlisted, all SECOS are Mustangs... Retired MA Senior Chief
I’m going to MEPS this upcoming Monday I want to be a MA sooooo badddd and then ur videos made me want to do it even more 😂
What’s the active duty contract for MA? 4 years or 5 years?
Allen M it’s 4 years
Thank You so much for this, video of MA .. Mr @Austen Alexander.. my bootcamp is on May 13,2021 .. my Job is MA. I hope get to chance to do Harbor Patrol.. THANKS GODBLESS🙏🙏🙏
Currently in the Army 8 years in. Heavily considering switching to Navy after this contract I really want to be an MA because it’s what I want to do on civilian side as well. I want to go reserve tho since I have a family.
Thank shipmate from an old Sailor who is an old troubleshooter from VA-37
Lucky! I'm stationed at Travis AFB. Nervous to go to my second command just because our command here is so relaxed it doesn't give me enough experience to the rate than I thought. Next one I go to they're going to expect much for being in 4 years :S
Nah I don't think so...just be honest and tell them you didn't get to experience much at your last command. I just left Travis btw! I was flown in for a retirement ceremony. Captain Meron. I love that dude
Going SO but I’m thinking about picking this job as my first before I get my warrior challenge contract
I don’t ship out till jan 😭😭 but I got MA which is what I wanted! Thanks for the video! Subscribed
Be sure to study your rank insignias! Keep in touch after you graduated A school!
Will do brother! Thank you and hope to meet you one day! Be safe out there🙏🏻
Im 17 starting bootcamp the 28th of july😁 im going to be a MA signed the contract and everything 💪🏽
I didn’t expect that this video would be in Long Beach, I live there! And I’m planning to join the navy as well
im from a small town called Porterville which is south of Lemoore the valley to be exact very family oriented place. I myself just enlisted in the navy and am looking at pursuing MA ive watched all your videos and id like to say thank you for all the helpful information
Do MA deploy a lot? When when they do what do they do on the ship?
@jay adams If you're wondering about deployment I've looked it up and "Navy Master At Arms Job Descriptions And Training" from thebalancecareers.com says
"Sea/Shore Rotation
The sea/shore rotation for a master at arms is as follows:
First Sea Tour: 48 months
First Shore Tour: 48 months
Second Sea Tour: 42 months
Second Shore Tour: 48 months
Third Sea Tour: 36 months
Third Shore Tour: 48 months
Fourth Sea Tour: 36 months
Forth Shore Tour: 48 months
Sea tours and shore tours for sailors that have completed four sea tours will be 36 months at sea followed by 36 months ashore until retirement."
www.thebalancecareers.com/navy-enlisted-rating-descriptions-qualifications-3345832
They will be stationed mainly on the larger ships ie Aircraft Carriers, Larger Amphib ships etc. If you watch Mr. Alexander's video of when he was stationed on a A.Carrier you will learn alot. I know they hold exercises with the Marines while on board. They watch sailors/marines who have been sent to the brig on board.
Another thing to take into account is that some shore "billets" are classified as sea rotations. Like I believe MA2 said his Bahrain duty was a "sea" duty station. And something indirectly related...There are times when the Navy's manning requirements may mean paying sailors more 💰. As was the case when the aircraft carrier was scheduled for extensive shipyard repairs in Newport News. They were paying specific rates "sea pay" to sign on for a undisclosed amount of years. So in other words if you decide that you feel that you want to reenlist then stay in touch with your detailer and continue to grow in your rate/job.
Keep pushin kid, nice work !
I really think you should do a video about he top places to be stationed as an MA
How hard is it to be a petty officer 3rd class in the US Navy
Austen, love your content man. I’m awaiting (fingers crossed) acceptance into OCS and am a little concerned about the “nothing is guaranteed in the Navy” aspect. I’m 27 and am coming from a stable but monotonous 9-5 civilian job. Could you speak a little on how to roll with the punches?
Repeat, nothing is guaranteed in the Navy or any branch for that matter, except for the AF maybe. I was in an infantry battalion in Afghanistan as a Senior Chief, Counter-Narcotics missions in Central America as a chief. Senior Chief Master at Arms (Ret)!
@@victorglaviano good to know an MA can do those things, thanks senior!!
What’s a fast way to drop weight I’m a 28yr female 5”3 197lbs, I have to drop 45lbs before I make the weight requirement to enlist, I’ve changed my diet I’ve cut out sugar and soda. I am going to gym doing the treadmill and the elliptical any advice will be greatly appreciated
yes just decrease the amount of carbs that you intake. Cut out sugars and sweet things. That's the easiest way I can tell you. Of course, you need to up your cardio and get your heart rate up for about 30-45 mins per day
Pushups....lots of pushups
Austen, Currently I'm in the Army Infantry, I am Interested in Master At Arms Career in the Navy. What advice can you give a Soldier who is trying to become a Sailor?
Also, I have prior LE experience and certifications (I.E. ASP Baton/Instructor, Oleoresin Capsicum Spray, Axon Taser, NRAFI) will that be eligible for any promotion points?
Thank you for your help!
I don't know if you will see this, but saying you were in Bahrain for two years, how often did you get to contact family? Or even see them in person?
I’m about to go in the navy next month, I want to become a MA… how often do I get to travel the world? Will I be able to do college at the same time with the job through the navy? My ultimate goal is to become a pilot, I just don’t have the money to go to college right now.
I’m an MA, been at my first command for about 4months now
sweet, which command?
Austen Alexander marine corps security forces battalion prp
Dope. I’m an undes with SW/AW trying to strike MA.

Going to boot camp on the 29th of September for ma!
I was surprised when you said lemoore california I live like a town away from there 😂
I’m currently an undesignated seaman, I’m leaning on striking MA right but have you ever been around or seen undes like myself strike that rate, how hard is y’all’s A school
Op sec. Number one rule of op sec. Thanks. I saw where another you tuber said that he would try for SEAL/BUDS if he was sent to Lamoore, and he'd probably not make it, but then he could be reassigned to another place. Nice to see you at long beach. Was the bahamas base before the hurricane? I think Freeport was devastated, yeah, I guess this is probably an older video, I'm commenting on.
great video man !
you guard the ports, how do you guard against an attack from below the surface, and what kind of tech do you deploy!!!
Well first of all, underwater attacks aren't MA's duty to know about. There are these things called submarines, SONAR, and what have you that detect devices above and below the waters...
Heyy man how’s it going, I’ve been following your journey for some time now & I have say “BIG UPS TO YOU” but I have question, in your honest opinion what do you feel is better, AO or MA? I understand tht your an MA “clearly” lol but I’m honestly torn between the two
MA, definitely! MACS (Ret)
My recruiter is telling me that the job might not be open and it’s the only job I want to do . Do you know if it’s open mostly or were you lucky to get the job?

Dude, I live in lemoore, and I take no offense. Even the people that live one town over in hanford or in fresno know about us. And the only reason we even exist on a map is because of the naval base.
This is wow a lot of stuff i didnt know. Its crazy..you got to discpline yourself
Dope and informative video man. Question. For people who tend to get sea sick, does the navy have anything that can get rid of that instead of the regular meds like Dramamine etc.
Cant wait to join and do this as my job!
I am joining the navy and the two jobs I have qualifying test scores that I want are master at arms and gunners mate I really like master at arms but I hear it’s a lot of paper work and I can fill out a paper but writing paragraphs aren’t my thing so should I consider gunners mate more?
hmmmm depends...I've done a little bit of Law Enforcement as an MA and it's really not alot of paperwork. but GM is an awesome rate as well
So I just got back from MEPS and they said I quality for MAA and some other stuff. I think I might pick this
I'm actually interested in becoming a MA, what's the training like, what do you learn, and what would you need to know before joining?
You will learn ALOT of law enforcement knowledge. I am doing a comprehensive breakdown of an MA soon on my channel
I just graduated from college and am looking to be an MA. Is there a program of ocs tied to it or is it better to go enlisted?
i'm not sure. but you could always go in as officer and become a security officer.
Was real grappping(bjj, wrestling, judo, sambo) taught in ur school? And do u have a preferred boot/have a boot video on ur channe? Thanks for the coo content!🇺🇸🇺🇸👊👊🔥🔥
What king of camera do you use? I am going into the navy and want to record videos like this to show my family once im gone.
i use a Sony a6300 but you can use anything really to get started! I recommend getting used to a gopro first and then working up
Thats actually so cool i live not to far from the lemoore naval base i have a freind stationed there, been there alot to watch the blue angels air show.
My Name is Austin as well I’m 24yrs and I ship out 20210106 as an MA!!
I’m currently an Undesignated Airmen, I go to strike a rate in September! I really want to strike MA. I was TAD to security for a few months but due to medical issues they sent me back to V4. I was told when you’re an MA there’s a lot of jobs within the rate. Are most of these jobs Shore duty commands? That’s what I’ve been told by most MA’s on my ship. Are all the shifts 3-2-2-3? And 12 hour shifts? Except for deployments?
That sounds like an awesome job.
I shipout January 11th, my rate is MA, I'll be an E-3 when I get to bootcamp because of JROTC experience, I'm 19 years old and sadly haven't spoken to a single other MA about the experience. HELP!
How does ranking work for an MA? I know its really hard and competitive to move up ranks as a corpsman so how does it work for your job?
Master at arms is the best job in the world 🌍
Going to C school in Lackland right now. Already graduated A school. It’s not hard at all.
In the army guard after this contract will be 12 years guard Infantry. considering changing to navy reserve MA after this contract. Will Navy pay for flights to drill if I’m landlocked?
Could you be a an MA with poor vision that's corrected with glasses or contacts?
How can you increase your chances of getting in a riverine assignment or is just all luck based?
i want to be an MA but i have a college degree. would that set me back because there isn’t a option for me to come in as an officer
Lol didn't know you were famous on UA-cam. Level 2 was fun dude.
lol more like infamous....have u read these comments haha
@@AustenAlexander haha good point
Is it too late to ask a question on this video?
Is it true if you have a drug related charge you can’t be a MA ? I had a possession charge years ago in my teens. I hope that doesn’t affect anything
Possession of Cannabis
Are the asvab requirements high for this rate? I’m between this and “BU” Seabee. I’m trying to get better at math for my asvab. Do you know the test score I would need?
Hey man did I toss you in the gym.... It's Mr. G!
are you able to start wearing contact lens after graduating bootcamp and start working on the ship?
you aren't supposed to, but a few of us did
what did you do as an MA while deployed on the ships?
Roved all day. It's very chill. Just walk around and chat with people and make sure no one is breaking the rules. Also, you respond to medical drills and general quarter drills
Man I missed this rate by 1 point.. all this studying is mentally exhausting... now im scared if I take the asvab at meps that I’ll score lower..
So are you really apart of the military for 8 years?? 😳 that’s the only issue for me? This seems like something I would want to do but I have so many plans after I’m done with the navy
This is the rate I want but I’m double guessing it because I had a little surgery on my knee a year ago, it’s fine now, I can run and everything but I don’t know how intense the MA training is. Im able to jog a mile and a half.
it's not intense at all. I think you will be fine. If something does go wrong, they will always get you the help that you need.
i am awaiting my MEPS date
i plan to go MA
thanks for the video bro, was informative
i enjoy what i saw
I get sea sick on really small boats.... Should I still be a MA...?
Hey man, I'm shipping out for MA on September 17th, ever since I picked my rate in April my dad who was a missile tech on a sub and my ET brother, wont shut up about how advancement is super rough, I'll only be checking id's, and I wont get any credentials for a job outside of the navy, I need to change before I ship etc. I'm really excited to do this job due to me growing up around and always having respect for law enforcement on top of a martial arts background. I tried asking my recruiter but he doesn't give me any useful info. Is there any information you could give me so I could pass it on to them so they know I'll be ok and they wont need to worry? thank you so much if you read all of this!
July 11 2019 is when I ship for boot camp and I plan on becoming a MA also when it comes to A school how is the overall environment for it
Good Leader Captain Austen A US Navy.
Question, if you complete OCS do you go to the same place to train for MAA or a different place? Or can you even become MAA after becoming an officer?
What’s your schedule like as MA? How Do the shifts and work life balance
Do you happen to know if that rating is overmanned right now? I'm going to MEPs on Thursday and hoping this job is available when I go to job counseling.
Nate Newsome they should definitely be taking people for MA
@@AustenAlexander Good to know, man. I appreciate it.
We are currently at 104% so we are technically over manned - MA1
Im thinking about joining the navy to become an MA, but I am also thinking of training K9s in the military. How would this work? For some reason I can't find much information on this online.
Do i have to go through MA and then ask to be a K9 trainer?
I ship out in February as an MA . What’s the fastest way to get recognized for harbor patrol units ? Super good pt super good swims etc?
Love it!!
