Superman The Movie’s scene was so reflective of the spirit of Superman. An older father with greater wisdom, not concerned about the fame those powers could bring, but rather Clark’s service to the greater good. It truly is a perfect scene.
That first scene of Jonathan dying was very emotional.
It was very emotional for me too because my dad died from heart failure twenty plus years ago and my sister and I were never the same since then.

As much as I know that the death of Jonathan drove Clark to be what he was, I think Lois and Clark did a good job giving us a new take where Jonathan was still alive and able to mentor Clark. Eddie Jones just did an amazing job at it too.
I don’t think his death is necessary.

To make up for the lack of proper storytelling. Movies from hacks like zack throw in crap cuz they lack the right stuff told in the right way.
