The golden era of BMW design, when they truly were the ultimate driving machine.
I hope it stays that way and not turn into The Ultimate Autonomous Transport Machine
They still are.
@@QCI99 depends from model to model. In old era all line up was UDM
The new M8 Competition isn't an ultimate driving machine? This is? Wtf
@@kylep3759 you must be young
E38 E39 E46, accused of one sausage in different sizes at the time, are real legendary BMW designs of the modern era, and the last. The brand identity at the time was peak, a series of cars that fascinated me to learn the history of the brand and eventually owned a few. Zero interest in today's iterations.
My opinion, that is what it should be. Same design language in different sizes.
And now thay produse series 2 which is same for Kia to make :)
Same when e30 e34 e32
Mostly agree, but I am a huge fan of the G12/G30/G20. They look almost as good.
Imagine they made the body exactly the same with updated lights & interior in today age…
My pops had one of these brand new in 01', and I was obsessed with it. Riding in the back with my own little bmw steering wheel sitting in my car seat pretending to be driving 😂
THANK YOU! I've held for over a decade that the E38 is one of BMW's best designs ever. It still has such presence on the road.
The E38 is without a doubt the most beautiful sedan. I remember seeing it in metal, it was phenomenal. A low slung long wide beauty.
ive been waiting 22 years for a better looking 7 series. Still waiting
me too
This and the e39 are the only cars that look significantly worse w aftermarket wheels (m parallel in particular are so elegant and timeless)
E39 m5 wheels are some of the greatest looking wheels of all time, aftermarket included. They seriously nailed it with this generation of cars
alpina wheels are unmatched on the e38
M parallel would look so much nicer on this car. Nonetheless, a beautiful machine.
The steering wheel is correct and was part of the Facelift Sport Package. Max's car is awesome!
Appreciate the clarification, thanks!
This definitely looks like the kind of car that would have been sketched as a guideline for what the car might look like but then BMW said, “we’re gonna make exactly what was drawn.”
The color is the very rare, Emola Red!! The 2001 740i sport was a M-sport package that came with sport: Steering wheel, seats, blacked out trim, gauges, sport shift trans/gearing and rims/tires. Back in the day Dinan sold its upgrades in packages. I had the “Stage III”. Purchasing the different stages and feeling the progression from one to the next was awesome! Stage two included lowering .75”. Top speed moved from 139 to 155. The info center was upgraded in late 01 that only some end of run production dated cars had. TV? “Back in the day” I paid around 2K to have a full stereo system installed with a DVD player. Having movies play on the factory info screen was so nice. Cars may have gotten newer, but none, better.
Imola.
Imola!
Imola rot to be precise.
i have the only 95' zinnoberrot ;)
we need more of these car reviews!! Amazing content!
James Bond, TheTransporter, 2Pac everybody was riding this Boss Car.. It was the absolutley No*1 car in the world.
Always wondered why the transporter switched to Audi....
E38, The most beautiful 7-series up to this date!
Such simple and clean lines.
Absolute truth! No car can come close to it! These were built to be the best built cars in the world. There are now examples with over 500,000 miles on the clock!
Proud owner of a BMW E38 L7 (750IXL)
The E38 had it's issues. For example the cup holders right below the instruments in the center dash. We were constantly replacing buttons and modules due to spills from liquid containers. The V8 timing chain tensioners and guides detonating were common and required engine replacements. Most smart owners sold them before they reached 100k miles. As for best sedan, my vote would be for the E34 M5. the perfect blend of styling, handling, and race bred engine. (Had two of them.)
Most smart owners would probably sell the Mercedes W140 before it reached 50k miles...
This is so nice and I really enjoyed.
Thank you so much for your film.
Only tears of joy 😭😍🤩😭
It looks great even in red!
Thanks a lot for this video (brings back lots of good childhood memories)
That era had the best looking 7 series, best looking 5 series and the best looking 3 series in my opinion
I think u should do more of these kinds of videos. It's like a real deal; see, touch, feel; very very enjoyed. Thanks 👍✌️💖
I love how all the sounds in and around the car remind me of my dad's 2001 540i. Like half this video has been so familiar to me.
This car looks a class apart from other sedans
That steering wheel came on the e38 Sport, which that car is, as did those Sport seats.
6:25 Look at how gorgeous that is! We have somehow gotten away from WOOD in auto interiors. I wish the luxury brands would go back to it.
This is literally perfection in my eyes. Its beautiful and i love it
I agree 100%. This car is perfection in looks. There is nothing like it. Pure beauty.
Still own a '01 BMW E38 728i with sunroof installed, '99 BMW E39 528i and '03 BMW 325i E46
I can tell how solid those cars of mine and still turn heads in car community here where I live
One thing that stands out of those 3 cars is the front AC vents in the E39 like no other
Just proper mods with M3 and M5 bodykit of the era and 20" wheels all around, gimme smile and satisfaction every time I drive daily to office and adjacent area
Absolutely my favourite BMW design
Love this, what a fabulous car and so brilliant in design as compared to the new models.
Thanks for this, are you doing any review material on the E36 at all for the future.
Well done on this great review.
Great to see that the real designer started to do real life review of cars. Congratulations.
I request a review of 7 F01/F02. For some reasons many car reviewers ignore it. But in my opinion it and G11/G12 LCI are the greatest 7 series along with E38
I agree. I miss mine very much. I would love to get back into one someday. It had it all. Looks, interior, smooooth as heck driving. Just amazing. It was a big issue when they went to the new back end 745 . It took awhile for it to grow on people.
Thanks to you I was able to track the car down and make an offer to the seller. Great video!
E38 & E39 will live on forever:30-40-50-60 years from now car entusiasts will still talk about those fine cars, marvels of pure german ingineering - BMW was in the late 90's at its finest moments in his history.
Indeed not only the body, but also the interior was fantastically designed. So classic.
I owed one about 15 years ago and is probably my favourite ever car.
Unfortunately it was written off when a tipper truck reversed over the bonnet.
Comfortable and a great long distance car, but it could hustle through the back lanes for such a big car, and there's lots of back lanes in Devon UK.
Can you ad a section in your reviews where its just pure exhaust note and engine sounds of the car when driving. Amazing videos btw. Keep it up
Picked up 98 740il individual in limonite metallic recently. Glad I joined the club
The 740i m-sport does 5.9 seconds 0-60. Dinan tuned properly, can be 5 seconds. Legendary. Good video, just need a little more correct information on this generation.
There's no way some ecu and intake changes make this a second faster to 60.
It's 5.7 to 60
I have a 1998 E38 in Oxford Green II and every time I glance at it I think " that is one timeless looking sedan". Parked next to my X5 it steals the show.
The E38 is a real classic beauty, with the E39, E46 and E31.... 🤩😍🥰
I have a Cosmoswartz (black) 99 740i Short Sport. Had it since 2020 and love every minute of ownership.
what an amazing job
Beautiful! Elegant. You are absolutely right. E38 is the best sedan ever made along with E39.
I had a 750iL and loved it.
Stunning red baby! Today’s BMWs are nothing compared to this. BTW I’m loving this hands-on video format. I just miss the kitty.
Thank you! I'm enjoying filming them as well. Cat gang will always pop up every now and then on my Bembli channel :)
Love your video coverage of this awesome car! Love my 01 740i M-Sport. It is bone stock with 63K miles. I can't see myself getting rid of it anytime soon. Haven't license it since 2018 but do take it out everyone once in a while to keep the parts lubricated. Getting ready to sell my 03 530i M-Sport and I am not looking forward to it :(.
loved my e38 740i. to this day one of the nicest cars ive ever driven. i wish i could get it back.
Lovely design. Friend of mine bought a new 2000-model 728iA with dark green exterior and tan grey leather. This car had rust-issues as many cars in Norway. He traded it for a MB S-Class with even bigger rust issues.
lmao
Great video. Amazing 7. I have a 2001 740i with Dinan stage 2 software tune when added a cold air intake adds about 20hp which i did and it tops 150 mph like its not even struggling to reach that. My dad used to own the 1994 740i unfortunately he crashed it .
yeah a cold air intake makes 20hp in fantasyland
The red looks great on those BMW's
The BMW 740iL is my absolute favorite import car of all time! I’ve driven (and worked on) a lot of them, and can honestly say that the styling cues you pointed out are some of my favorite parts of the car! Things like the peak at the trunk lid edge, the sleek front fenders, the taillights, etc. I believe that steering wheel comes from the M5, of around the same era. I’ve always loved the tactile feel of the buttons as well. Everything about these cars just grabs you by the hair, with both hands, and screams in your face; “QUALITY!” lol. I prefer the stretched iL version, myself. That has a lot to do with the fact that I have twin boys that are 6’5” tall, and leg room is important! I also feel that the extra 5 inches gives the car a more “executive/V.I.P.” Feel. I’ve been looking for one that checks all the boxes for several years, as I’m pretty picky.
Thanks for video with E38 Doug De Muros version is also very good, and if can say red color is last colour for sedan. Bordo is nice
Wow. What a beautiful car. The pinnacle of BMW design.
The best looking BMW and one of the most beautiful sedans ever.
Love the Dinan 7 plate. Love the The Dinan cars from this era
Legends never die
Such an underrated car man.
Awesome video - yes, more reviews with real cars 👍
The sport package had that steering wheel, and also blacked out trim and chrome deletes like the strip on the trunk. Amazed the cupholder works, but there are dead pixels on the dash :)
And those are the stock 18-way sport seats.
That bmw is soooo clean, congrats!
Do more review of all the old cars please.
Just gave my original owner 2001 7401 orient blue 48,000 mile baby to my grandson. I already miss it.
We had few and it's different car from any modern car ❤️ nothing to compare 🙌💎
Great looking car.
I’m not a huge fan of red but it looks really good on this car.
The head worn camera you’re using has a much brighter image in the video. May need to make some adjustments to the camera in the future.
Thanks for sharing
Me too, like the worst color but the whip is fly AF
My daily driver is my 1999 E38 728I Ive had it 4 years now Plenty fast enough and will sit at 140mph at night good on fuel as well around town 30mpg and on a run 48 to 50mpg at 70MPH .. ive never seen a manual in the UK .
E34 540i 6-speed. Try one of them next! FANTASTIC!
Exactly, gorgeous car 😍
I only drive Manual cars, so I'm definitely buying older cars from now on. I prefer my cars to be analog. This is to me the best looking BMW of all time. I wish this was the Manual version of it.
For me, stock exaust at the M60's always sounding the best!
..these seats are an extra called Compfort Seats :)
the 740 sport model had sport seats not comfort seats!
The E38 was peak BMW. There won’t be another generation like this.
The E3X cars were all the peak era BMWs, not a bad one in the bunch - E30, E31, E34, E36, E38 and E39 were all beautiful elegant designs that have stood the test of time. Pretty much the exact opposite of the garish, overstyled stuff they are putting out now.
I prefer the 2s, much less impossible-to-repair 90s electronics to go wrong and that shark-like angle on the front end :)
Gorgeous car and gorgeous color
Yes it was… mine had transmission issues but it was a beauty and a beast
these are wondeful cars, especially the early 95 models with the M60B40 engine. I am a bit impartial though because I have the 1 of 2 1995 Zinnoberrot E38 ;)
That's a good looking specimen!
...cooler than this Dinan were only Alpina B12 5,7 and remotedly manageable James Bond version shooting rockets in a movie.....
BTW...if this red one has classic BBS mesh wheels with negative offset would be sweeet!
This is THE BEST looking large sedan. So sleek!
I own the Wide Body, which is a Sliver 2001 BMW 740il. The 740i is beautiful as well.
...you're driving in my old neighborhood on South Hampden BLVD. LOL
A beautiful car. My ultimate favorite BMW is the E39 M5. The design of that car is sleek and sexy and it has power. Such a great piece of machinery.
Can you please redesign the CLS Shooting Brake 2013 Wagon please! That is one stunning looking wagon indeed!
The greatest e38 ever made is the the 740i Protection. Rated to stop small arms up to 7.62x54/308 and IEDs. The added reinforcements and thicker glass also meant the car was super quiet on the inside which made the car feel even more luxurious
Man that's beautiful
Love the e38 ,I own 1995 730i & 1996 740i
My last car (Victoria) was a e38il on style 95s. Angel eyes', shadawline', no tint. Grey and black Two tone interior with black piping, jaguar seatback tables.. fast, smooth and luxurious. When you do 70 it feels like you're doing 35
Working with a f10 sport now. Put it in sport mode and you can go from 0 to 40 in like 2 seconds. Twin turbo. Talk about a beautiful car
Best car design of all time 2 me ❤❤
You’re right. It is definitely the best or one of the best cars ever made by man, Period.
Big Fan Mr Sketch Monkey! When you do your next redesign can it be a 1988 Dodge Diplomat while still having the characteristics of a Dodge?
Beautiful car lines
love this car, it needs original styling 32 wheels tho
Unbelievable how people can ruin these cars. The red also doenst suit this car.
My favourite BMWs are the e30 & e36 and e46 M3, the e39 M5 and my most favourite Design is the F87 M2 OG&LCI, I just love this car. What is your BMW TOP5 please go tell me.
Timecode 4:32
For my opinion, BMW G70 is the best looking at front, side, and back design.
The split headlamp is a fresh design of quad headlamp.
Not using a traditional quad headlamp design anymore.
The interior absolutely the best too.
For current huge double kidney grill design, i cannot accept the design either, when it firstly released.
But up until now, i adapted and accepted, even i appreciate the huge double kidney grill design.
Makes BMW face more bold and it's a fashion statement for my opinion.
Can you state the taillight make modification, and the exhaust muffler used.
Bro please discuss about the design of the E36 3 SERIES
Im not a BMW fan at all, but I'd love to have that one!
That is one clean e38 ..had the e39 M5 it was crashed in 2019 I do agree with you BMW don't make em like these anymore
Absolutely great cars. I used to have one and loved it. Never should have sold it. The best time to buy these were probably about 11 or 12 years ago. After that they are super overpriced.
3:06 The man centre of screen is Joji Nagashima, designer of the E39, which is the best sports sedan ever made.
I would put the E39 above in design, personally saying. Not that I can’t help myself falling in love with the E38 7-Series.
E39 is a fantastic design as well, especially with the M-sport package, just a little "bubblier" than the shark like lines of the E38
Proportions were so much better back when belt lines were lower in sedans.
This is a true statement
