Avoid buying a broken BMW 7 Series and find the E38 7 Series that shifts through the gears easily and is as luxurious as it should be. Avoid the mistake of buying a broken BMW 7 series as a project and attempting to fix it only to find it is not as reliable as you thought it might be. This buyer's guide covers the BMW 7 Series E38 and RARE L7 from 1994 7 Series, 1995 7 Series, 1996 7 Series, 1997 7 Series, 1998 7 Series, 1999 7 Series, 2000 7 Series, 2001 7 Series in all trims SE to Sport to Individual. The problems discussed in our buyer's guide to the BMW 7 Series are gearbox issues, shimmy or wobbly handling, and coolant leaks.
The V12 is disappearing fast, but the 750i and 750il live on, however prices are on the rise.

One additional comment- in my 740il, I had both the pixel information display in the dash and the radio pixel display in the center lose pixels and couldn’t display information properly. BMW realized this was a problem and had a courtesy goodwill repair program at no cost to the owner. The owner just needed to ask for this goodwill repair. I don’t know how BMW is today, but back then BMW Customer Service was top of the line.

I had a 740il and 750il and God I miss them. Hands down, the 750il required far less maintenance than my 740il did. The M73 V12 is such a solid engine. It never failed to amaze me. Great video and detailed overview, well done!

      My trilogy would rather be e30 - e34 - e32 😊
I really wonder if it is a question of taste or a question of (our) generation. I was born in 1966. What is your generation ??? 😊 KR

In the lower-end 730d is by far the best pick. Plenty of torque at low revs, high mpg,and a fantastically reiable enngine (the M57). The 728i also owns a silky and extremely resistant engine, but has to be revved above 4000 U/min in order to deliver - and mpg is siignificantly lower

Don’t about the timing chain guides breaking off getting sucked up into the oil sump starving engine of oil
