Best 2JZ GE & GTE Ignition Coil Options in 2023 - our new IGN1A alternative!
Вставка
- Опубліковано 7 сер 2024
- Looking for a modern, compact but powerful coil option for the 2JZ platform, we realized, that the narrow space between the valve covers simply won't allow fitting any off the shelf powerful coil inside it.
That's why we decided to make our own coils, bringing to you the spark energy you need, without requiring to cut your timing cover or run ignition wires!
Even though our coils get measured with industry standard test equipment by our manufacturer, it was important to us, to test them by ourselves in order to be able to compare them relatively to all other popular 2JZ coil options.
Being transparent with our test procedure plays an important role to us:
We paid attention to use low tolerance electronic components to get results as precise as possible with our DIY test rig, but we are also aware of the fact that our numbers shouldn't be considered as absolute results.
However, performing the same test multiple times on our rig gave us consistent results +- 0,3mJ, which means that the results are perfectly fine to compare the coil output energies relatively to each other.
The tested coils:
- R8: NGK 48041
- short VAG: BOSCH 0 986 221 023
- Yaris: BOSCH 0 986 AG0 502
- R35: HITACHI 133953
- Dodo: 1DR102123
- IGN1A: 30-2853

Love this! I love the fact it fits under the factory cover and with such high power output most of us will never have to gap plugs again! Which makes cold starts 10x better / easier 😊
😊 let’s upgrade together shall we? 😅
Dose the VAG Short clear the intake on GE
@@therealcapitalg im here looking for the same info, really educational one!
Would love to see these against the oem 2JZ GTE coils. No one ever tests them but cars have done upwards of 1000hp on them.
I love that you guys made this coil with such high output, I’ll be looking into these for my GTE when I plan on upgrading my coils
I love the transparency and honesty. I hope to purchase your products soon!
Holy shit this man made a coil dyno fucking awesome
I love the honesty when doing the test 🔥
Really happy with all the learning/ R&d showcase this video provided. Thank you guys
good comparison & excited about the next projects 🥳
We need more 2jz Ge content .
My favorite GE expert
Why ?
Very nice, please make one of these for the 7m-gte as well!
Really cool to see you guys come out with new product! I hope your log manifold is gonna fit in my MK3 Supra and i might pick up a set of coils aswell cuz they sound great!
yes, our manifold fits into MK3. you can contact me for futher information and pictures 👍
Hey guys! Nice product indeed! One very important question, this video shows RED coils, your site shows them in teal blue, can we PLEASE get them in red??! :) Thanks.
Excellent and informative video.
Idea for further testing. Every OEM under the sun makes a variant of the R8 coil. would be good to see which ones are worth it and which ones are to avoid. Personally I stick to NGK and Denso, but would be good to see how they all stack up.

Grat video Marko / DODO :)
Have you tested the coils at higher rpm than the 6000rpm for max continuous load ? like 18000 rpm (9000 rpm on a wankel engine since ignition is each revolution). That information would be very interesting to see as duty cycle gets really high even for short dwell times.
nice
Great video, I currently have Yaris coils installed but they don’t fit under the cover and they are kinda loose.
I’m very interested in VAG short but I have a question; will they use the same connector like Yaris?.. or do I need to change the harness wiring?
Also what is the part number?, any link where I can buy them ?
Sub! Hope for more ge content.
Cool
Any other changes needed if you change from factory 2JZ Denso to these?
now the 2jz ge can become an ultimate daily driver engine
Dose the VAG Short clear the intake on GE
hi dodo . what dwell is optimal for r8 coil ?
Does this kit work on a 2jzge vvti engine?
Will your coils by any chance fit 4g63 engines, sorry for the off topic, I know you guys are dedicated to the 2JZ community.
How is the warranty with your coils??
Hi I wanted to know if the Yaris Denso coils can work if you have 15.5 volts thank you very much to anyone who will help me
Will you have wiring harness for this too?
the kit includes 6x connectors with some spare pins. we will add a wiring harness later on.
Offer these coils as a 12 volt trigger signal as well so people with aftermarket stand alone ECU’s can use them. Most aftermarket stand alone ECU’s utilize a 12 volt trigger signal instead of 5 volts, this is the only thing holding me back from purchasing and using your coils.
Sent email days ago and no one replied.. your kit isn't available
hello, just checked, there are no emails i havent replied to. please check your spam. the coils will be available for pre-orders in about 1 week, and ready for shipping in a few weeks.
@@DodoRacing do your kit come with harness ?? Thank you

@DodoRacing What part number are the short VAG coils you’ve used in this testing. The only short one I can seem to come up with is 036905715F ( 4:30 )
