I had a 11 inch chef knife in making take a hard left turn when I heat treated the other day. Luckily I was able to normalize the steel a couple times, then re-treat it and it straightened out almost perfect
I just found this out, but if you want to protect non-stainless steel from rust and stuff, you can boil viniga, and while it’s boiling, you dunk the project in there and let it sit for a few minutes. It gives it a cool grey color and I THINK protects the steel from the elements.
