So I'm from Syracuse NY, actually the village of Camillus. The original Camillus cutlery company made some of the best knives you've ever seen. If you get a knife from them from the mid 2000s it's very high quality. Sadly they went out of business and sold there name to some Chinese company and now they ruin the Camillus name with this garbage. It's a real shame.

To be fair digging is a useful option I like to see in my multitool knives - for the times you don't really need to pack a spade because you're not digging a goddamn trench - but to be equally fair this piece of shit will snap if you attempt to use it that way.
Also, I'm pretty sure my spade is sharper and better at chopping twigs and vines than this "machete"

By the way, they are still selling the Callimus at Wal-mart. I first saw one maybe three years ago and apparently, some poor individuals must still be buying these crude crowbar-chetes.
I also bought one on sale years ago from a pile of these. After a couple of years of light use(because the thing wasn't that useful) the blade snapped in half. Now, at least at the time, the company touted a lifetime warranty. When I went to see about getting mine replaced, it turns out that you have to have the original receipt and packaging in order to have this sorry excuse for a tool replaced. Needless to say, after having the thing for 2 years, I did not have the receipt or packaging. Their warranty is a bigger joke than their "knife"

To be brutally honest the haitian people defeated the nepolean army and was the only slaves to successfully remove thier owners from thier country. Primary weapon of choice the same tool used for centuries to toil the sugar cane and that was the machete it's all about how you use them and tbh I wouldn't be using my blade in the fashion he did using bias opinion to literally talk shit about a older version of this machete tool. They market it as a camping machete cause if they market it for what it used for ie hacking arms and heads off the soccer mom's of the world would be raging demanding thier kids not be able to buy such a destructive weapon.
Decent machetes are actually longer, larger, easier to sharpen and have at least a little more weight behind them so you can use the force of a swing to finish jobs that the sharpness can’t finish, which are all traits the Camilus Carnivore lacks. If a blade sucks at chopping through thin branches that are standing still, and cannot even break skin when pounding the sharp end with your open palm like he did, then it’s going to suck even worse at trying to chop living, moving flesh, muscle, and bone. I know that you are trying to look smart by playing the contrarian, but the Camilus Carnivore is just by all accounts a bad knife for any purpose.
Also you got it backwards on Machetes. Machetes were originally a defoliating tool that were rebranded as hack and slash weapons, not the other way around.
@@myawsomebox I promise you I own one and if you dig a bit deeper on the current model not the one from years back you would see they addressed all the issues that they had with earlier models. Also I don't know how these people keep saying they broke thier blade using it in a normal manner yet can't find actual video evidence of this claim. But I respect your opinion I just don't see anything factual in it though.

Yep. I have Timber Rattler Bowie from BudK that will out cut that thing all week. Outlaw Bowie. Practically a sword. Yeah, its not perfect and made in Pakistan, but, its tough as nails.

@@WastelandSeven honestly Pakistan makes some great blades from great cutlery steel. It's the spot welded on tangs that sometimes are the problem. If it's legit full tang and you can visually check that the tang actually exists, Pakistani knives aren't a bad way to go. China seems to think if you put in enough chromium that 1/25th of a percent carbon is plenty. And that's why 3CR13 is a go-to for many knife companies based over there. And it's ironic because Chinese people aren't even legally allowed to own the knives they're making. That's why I'll take a knife made in or near incessantly war-torn Peshawar over the People's Republic any day of the week.
Sounds like he tried to sharpen a knife that should not be resharpened. If it’s titanium coated SS then your just ruined the coating and yes it will never be sharp again. Maybe don’t fuck up your knife next time. If you doubt me watch the “Prepared Wanderer” review. This guy is just used to traditional carbon steel blades.

I have a carnivore, and it was suitable for the task I purchased it for. At my work, I often had to open pallets of stuff that was wrapped in plastic, as well as chop open large bags of ice. It worked well for these tasks, and was rust resistant. I do agree there might be issues under other circumstances, but, it is a cheap knife. In the past, I had some very good knives from Camillus, such as a large 2 bladed "Sword Brand" folder. The Carnivore has little in common with the old Camillus, but is not useless.

My Camillus Carnivore snapped where the first pin holds the blade in. The tang broke in it, and the blade was wobbly in it. Still sold it to a pawn shop for $15. Yes, I outpawned a pawn shop. LOL

I find that stepping up from a small drill bit to your desired size, with a few in between, helps tremendously when drilling through hardened steel.

I keep my 'carnivore' duct taped to my snowblower. Clearing clogs out of the discharge is about it's speed, and I don't haveto worry about dinging it up like I would a nice knife. It actually cuts packed snow rather well, but not much good on anything more durable.
