Not really a normal video, almost a mini build honestly. Super low key editing, much more chill. Hopefully you guys enjoy this kind of video cause it was honestly so easy and enjoyable for me to produce. Stay tuned for Homemade Weapons Revisited Pt. 2! See ya soon.
That "bolt sleeve" idea is absolutely fantastic. I am most definitely not going to steal this and unapologetically tell people that I came up with it all by myself!
I gotta say, even though the pvc pipe bows was my favourite arc, the forging on an anvil arc has been so good. Even filler episodes like this absolutely slap.
My mom passed on Thursday I been in a spot the last few days but I always look forward to a ZNA video. Thanks for posting when you did. One of the only bits of joy I’ve had in a week.
A lot of that wobble will be coming from the pivot of the sledge. You can make a triangular brace with the widest points of the pivots as the base and the furthest attachment point on the sledge as the tip.
When you're about to succumb to the Internet rabbit hole of depravity, but a ZNA video drops and you have enough wholesomeness restored to break out of the virtual world and start being productive: 🙂↕️ Love you so much Eli, you are a blessing and you are always welcome in my phone screen, my thoughts and prayers, and far beyond.
2:26 anyone else get the biggest feeling of joy seeing that washer / bolt fit-up? Sent chills up my spine - gotta love solid anchoring and hefty parts 🥰
If you are cutting small stuff like that in the bandsaw again, PLEASSE hold the item with clamps, to keep your fingers away from the blade. That could have gone SO much worse than it did. Source: got too close to a saw blade once, and got to see what the tendons in my hand look like, firsthand. (Have a vid of it on my channel lol.)
Hey Eli! It’s really good to see you happy and healthy bro! We all love you and missed you a lot bro, I hope the little one is doing good and I hope yall are thriving!
Been watching for a long time man. I know life is probably super busy with the wife and kid, but I appreciate the fact that you still upload from time-to-time. I hope you have a great day and enjoy church tomorrow morning!
OK this is one of the coolest things I've seen built on UA-cam in a minute. I know it's not Colin Furze digging a tunnel system under his house, but seriously, DIYing a treadle hammer is super rad! Nice work my man.
Nicely done, I would suggest making some spring clips for attaching/detaching the hammer. It may seem like a small thing, but the less you gotta fiddle with small bolts the less of a hassle it'll be to use the thing.
Ayyyyyyy!! Love a good ZNA vid! Just what I needed! I’m definitely going to be utilizing some of these building tips for the future. Especially the bandsaw tip. Glad you completely and totally randomly decided to add that. Thanks 👍
Hey man! Glad you liked it. I saw your vid about the spade bits a few months ago, really inventive and resourceful. I see we're on a similar upload schedule 😅 hopefully that changes for the both of us very soon.
Note on torsion: If you want high torsion resistance, you need a steel profile with a closed cross section. Closed cross section meaning round tube, square tube, rectangular tube, etc. Open shapes like I-beams and L-channel have no means of distributing the internal shear stresses from torsion and as a result, they will experience high deflection. Short version: either swap out the L-channel with steel tube, or weld some plate around the frame to make a closed cross section.
Good build! I tell folks all the time that if you get through a day in the shop without a little blood spilled.... you should be worried because Mr. Murphy is still out there somewhere, and he's waiting! Never been a big fan of the swinging hammers like that because they are so inefficient for what it takes. I've been thinking, lately, about building a guillotine-style treadle hammer I could slide over my anvil. A more direct blow, easier adjustability.... and a good excuse to break out the welder........
bro do not worry about quick editing or anything of that sort. we are here for the cool creations and the chill vibes, please don't stress yourself and enjoy the day :)
Also your lube holes after drilling tap and insert grease fittings, helps out, good job, and to those who don't get it editing is a pain in the backside 😂 thanks for taking the time to make the video
Honestly this was one of my fav videos you've put out! I liked the natural background audio. I wonder if some simple vertical guide rails would help with the lateral wobble. It seems like a lot of it is coming from the handle of the hammer.
When you want to make a more permanent one you can you a second sledge as the anvil. It might take up less room than you'd think. Also getting an old treadmill or washing machine motor to power it would definitely be a quality of life improvement that might be worth looking into
Great to see ya post again! Long time watcher, first time caller lol. You might find more success in extending out the lever arm of the hammer to the rear of the pivot, and actuating the hammer from that end. Right now, the leverage of the hammer is working against your pedal; causing you to need to stomp on it to get the hammer to come down. With the motion controlled beyond the pivot, you'd be getting the mechanical advantage of that lever working for you! For further study, ThisOldTony just released a video about over-center mechanisms that explores the concept of leverage in a way I think you'd find useful for a future iteration of this project
man you came a long way from using a satellite dish as a shield and making weapons in your bed room lol. always amazed at what you can come up with man.
That was a very useful tidbit of info. Anyways I wonder if that iconic red dykem on his hands was related to that upcoming project mention at the start 🤔👀

Anything you can get us is going to be well enjoyed content. Keep up the awsome work.
Heck yeah new Eli video. Neat.
Dear Alpha, I love your content man. Keep up the great work.
your personality already makes the videos really enjoyable to watch, on top of the minimal editing i think its really good
Love your normal, more ‘produced’ vids, but this was just as nice to watch! So if it’s easier, go for more of these man!
Not mentioning the blood on your finger while talking about the bandsaw pipe cut is too damn funny
Ouch.
Comically explaining what to do right after doing it wrong was gold
Dang*
You just know the pants were lightly browned while recording that bit XD
Lmaooo
that dad grunt just from standing tells me you are one busy papa
I dont think ZNA is a dad..

All you need is an inverter motor and a gear reducer to get it to 5 -10 rpm and you have a power hammer
Needs to be pretty powerful, The power hammers really use a lot of energy

Really sorry to hear that, man. I'm glad I could help in some small way. I pray you and your family can find some peace very soon.
sorry for your loss man, hope you manage alright
Eli definitely made this video for the sole purpose of showing off his monster calf muscles
Not gonna lie, the 'simple' editing and no music and other effects really appealed to me. Nice and soothing ASMR like video
Workshop upgrade side projects are among my favorite content from Maker™ type channels. Thanks for sharing this.
Life is about side projects, I bought a jeep to restore, so I was changing the front springs and now I'm learning how to sew upholstery
Great video, watched the whole thing already. My favorite part was when you were bald! ❤
highlight of the video everytime
My two favorite comments. “Handy dandy welding cart” and “no real reason”. I laughed out loud.

0:45 As someone in the same age bracket as Eli, I felt that in my legs and lower back
Try being in your mid-50, with a busted up back to start with, that hurts just watching.

Legs will be absolutely ripped
Only one lol and he'll have a wonky step
@@julianmac2117 That's why you switch sides every time you pull it out of the forge.
@shred1894 dawg I was kidding of course he's not just gonna keep to one side lol

what do you mean? He gave us a really good tip for absolutely NO REASON AT ALL. EVERYTHING IS FINE.

Honestly loved the minimal editing especially at the end. Very immersive and relaxing!
Great project! a treadle hammer is great when you need an extra hand
If there is one thing I’ve learned from Eli’s channel it’s that an angle grinder is one of the most versatile tools if you know how to use it.
Sorry babe we can't tonight, a new ZNA Productions video just dropped
I love a 12:38 upload time, sleep can wait
Fresh video from Mr Baldman himself, can’t wait to get
Home and watch it

Neat build. It's also good that you show your mistakes so that others can learn from them and not have to make the same mistakes themselves.
Honestly, very awesome. Also, 7:00 straight jorkin it, and by "it" I mean my Treadle Hammer

Haven’t watched this guy in years now, completely forgot how good he is so happy I found your channel again
With this hammer, it will always be leg day. Gonna look like straight up hams.

Father….you’re back!!
Here for the late night upload
Absolutely awesome late night content, man! If I still had time in my busy life and was forging myself, I would definitely rig something like this up.
There's something really relaxing about the sound of the hammer working without any extra music. Great video!

Honorary mentions of 'The band saw incident of 2024': eli's thumb.
That pipe and nut solution was ingenious
that thing looks like it works great for something that is detachable, nice work.
dude the sound as it hits the metal on the anvil, idk why bit it itches my brain in a good way.
favorite channel by far

Gentlemen, may I present to you, the most underrated channel on UA-cam
Excellent to fall asleep to the gentle tings of an anvil
It must be so nice having a hammer that hits hard consistently in the same place every time.
Not going to lie, would love to see you make a tire hammer. Awesome to see the vision you had come to life and work!
