This song is what made me want to play guitar. I first picked up a guitar at a party in 2005. I Later bought the guitar from the guy. He said I hope u become better than me. And I thought to myself “ WHAT A POSSIBILITY” I’m self taught and my addiction stole my love away 3.5yrs ago. Clean and sober for months now and I just found a guitar I wanted for 15 yrs for an amazing deal in a pawn shop down the street from my treatment center. I refused to play while I was using drugs and alcohol. But my love is back!! Like riding a bike it’s all coming back!! GOD works miracles!! Keep your faith in GOD!!
I always loved this song. Go outside and listen to the birds. Look at the trees. No labels. No judgement. Stay present. Alert. Open. Align with nature. The Universe. Source Energy. Look at the moon and say "That's me." All people, animals, plants, rocks and the chair your sitting on are all atoms vibrating at different speeds. We are not part of the Universe. We ARE the Universe. We help ourselves by helping others. Practice kindness, patience, compassion and gratitude. The higher you. The deeper you that goes beyond name and form.
I really like how you worded this. No1 has ever explained to me what the u-n-I-verse actually is. So I can never claim to b a part of it. That's just guessing and acceptance of other people's mindsets. I know there r creatures who know exactly what the universe is and have yet to show me any proof of its actual operations. Just like reality god Lucifer or any other story line. I like mystery of faith and nice surprises but in the reality I've been in.... It kinda doesn't seem to be fare. Its unfortunate because I've had to basically sit on the sidelines and suffer another's version of reality. I do love bird's tree's nature and when I'm not judging something I feel much better. This is one of the best and most important songs ever written. A lot of people don’t necessarily realize how sad and deep this song is, it paints a very accurate image of someone suffering with severe drug addiction
@@ds2413I mean maybe to him. When someone writes something on the Internet it's their opinion. Maybe it holds an important meaning to him / her because they went to a similar substance use disorder. My opinion-
It is a very important song. Janes was the first alt rock band and this song was written in 1988 and the rock bands that were popular in the 90s Those songs sound like Jane says. Compare this song to Guns N’ Roses which is what was popular at that time if Janes addiction didn’t break up they would’ve been bigger and don’t really get their credit.
One of the most beautiful vocal melodies ever written. Amazing how he took a few random things that she said and pieced it together the way he did…Pure genius of a song.
90’s music is so good. I miss the 90’s and the sense of nostalgia and hope for life and the future. Who here from the 90’s is exactly what or who you thought you would be today?
A moment in time when Perry broke free from his demons. I like to remember him this way. It’s possible to recover… but it’s impossible to be perfect or stay young forever. Thanks for all the great music & memories .

you are a dumbfuck because you are unable to understand why he pulls the mic away from his face dude. if you listen to the way his vocals fade out its clear that he does this on purpose and it's part of there sound and it shows talent, not "being afraid of a microphone" I listen to all the same shit you listed , I dont see how that has anything to do with anything. I called you a dumbfuck because you are clueless about what this guy is actually doing with the mic.
That steel drum is the special ingredient to this song. This strummy type of music is very reminiscent of Zeppelin to me. Reminds me of the 3rd record.
might be because of the same G->A thing with a hammer on going on that happens in Zep's song in the 'many times ive tried many times...' part. Take that part and make the whole song about it and that's essentially jane says main rhythm part
I love this song/album/band, but if it wasn't for the steel, this song would be so monotonous to listen to with the same 2 1/2 chords throughout the entire song. I might even go as far as to say that it may had sucked? Don't get me wrong, as I type this, I would never think that I would be saying anything remotely bad about Jane's! But... When they pan to Navarro, it seems as if he's not only trying to hide the 'not this song again' look, but a 'this song AND this seemingly endless hand cramping chord progression... again?!' I don't know, does anyone else that has listened to this song/album since its inception feel the same? I know, I'm a full on cynic so...

Not exactly just 2 chords. They play an intro here in D with a Cadd9 I think. Then when they go into the the song proper while it’s G to A there’s a couple of quick sus chords played off of A in there that actually make the music pop. If you just play straight G to A then play it with the Asus chords you’ll notice a big difference.
I've done that so many times; glad I'm not the only one. But this, without a doubt, is the best they've performed live. Perry is looking healthy too. This video gives me the goosies.

Navarro is smirking because they didn't rehearse and Perry walked on in the last second and kills it. Dave was shocked.
His control is better now than it was then, hot damn what a voice!
024DJF : Navarro a d riding .....
Really? Source from an interview or something?
Rehearse? Rehearse what? I could play G and A in my sleep and sing this crap first thing when I woke up.
Perry can kind of do anything lol
I'm here cause I saw their fight and stopped the concert. This is a great discovery. Love the song.
Wasn’t a fight Navarro didn’t do anything.
And they dropped out of the music festival I was supposed to see them at right because of that fight 😩😭😭 I was sooo upset
Man, that was basically a perfect performance.
What a voice. After all these years, he's better than ever. The band sounded unreal.
You do realize this was like 15 years ago goofball😮😅
I'm back 7 years later. This is one of the most beautiful live performances I've ever heard of any song still.

Perry looks and sounds PHENOMENAL. Not sure if he's completely clean but I've never seen him look so healthy and sound so on point.
Ryan Bunker i thought tge same thing man
I bet Perry is Clean,,, He's too smart and $Wealthy$ That wherever rehab it takes, Kick Today" He Sounds Unbelievably GREAT, they all do
That's what I was just thinking. " Is he sober??? Lol
Yeah! Thought the same thing!
Yeah because they're tuned down. I don't think this is the original key.
Lovely message good sir/ma'am.
All for ONE. ONE for all
I really like how you worded this.
I was trained to judge from an early age and duality was put into my mindset pathways. Anywho
Thanks for the positive message.
Made me smile.

It triggered another memory from all of the insane dreams I had last night. A man mentioned that I need b more careful with my thoughts. I have a diagnosis of psychosis and several other labels that I actually believe r portions of myself trying to develop my mindset as I would like it to be. Its like being a child in an adult body and recognizing that I don't want to behave in some of the ways I've been behaving. I don't like violence and have not been able to watch violent television programs for about 5yrs moew. I'm interested in seeing if I progress in my own development. It's 1 day at a time and catching myself when I'm reactive because I have internalized anger from some unfortunate events I'm trying to process and let go of. But you can't fake it. It really takes a true mmmmmm forgiveness. Looping through the same anger wow. Its taken over a yr of almost complete solitude to calm the negative focus and momentum. I had no idea that I could become that angry. It's not a emotion I like to Express much yet I was hyper focused on problems and the realization that I don't understand the inner workings of my apparatus. That I've relied on outside sources to tell me what I need to b healthy and finding contradictions in that data. I'm most grateful to have the opportunity to retrain my own mind pathways. About 10yrs ago i had forces come into the reality and uproot me from my life i was living. Its been extremely challenging but i think there is reason for all of it and to help me develop in areas of my interest. I'm highly sensitive and disregulted and am trying to work through trauma responses from practicing resistance focusing for so long without the awareness to understand that's what I was doing. I'm a very gentle individual under all of the programs and experimental I've encountered.
Have a wonderful day *
This is one of the greatest performances ever.
literally one of the best things on the internet ever
Mr Healy has something to say about this
ua-cam.com/video/gwgOUzodS6E/v-deo.html
Love this 🎸 ⚡
Agreed. An absolute decimation of the studio recording
Hardly. But it was a good performance.
one of the best versions of this song.
This is one of the best and most important songs ever written. A lot of people don’t necessarily realize how sad and deep this song is, it paints a very accurate image of someone suffering with severe drug addiction
There’s a great interview with Perry by Adam Reader on his Professor of Rock UA-cam channel detailing this song.
A resounding No! I mean hell No!! Are you drugged out? One of the most important songs written?? 😂😂😂
@@logancraddick7507 Funny you mention Guns & Roses, you do know who the blond guitar player is, right? Duff McKagen, of Guns & Roses!
I assumed I'd be six feet under or immortal by now... Wrong on both...
Yeah, I thought I'd be below ground by now too.
If it wasn’t for the military, I might be.6 feet under too.

Love this song. Always reminds me of my Bro who died in the nineties. He used to always go around singing this.
Sounds like a rad dude 🙌
A moment in time when Perry broke free from his demons. I like to remember him this way. It’s possible to recover… but it’s impossible to be perfect or stay young forever. Thanks for all the great music & memories .
I like the subtle eye communications between Dave and Duff when they play their guitars. It's cool to see!
They are seeing what the other is playing so the music is well timed
You have it right on! I too was also intrigued by the eye contact between Dave and Duff! They were the entire soul of the pereformance!
I saw the jungle theme video and was surprised..I definitely like this version as well
I was going to say is that Duff?! Right on glad he survived his GnR days he was one of the last celebs to see Cobain alive flying back to Seattle shout out to my old Broadview neighborhood and west Wa
I heard in an interview that Dave and Duff were amazed by how good Perry was singing. They both said "you never knew which Perry was going to show up" Good Perry showed up and knocked it outta the fuc**** park.
Thats a true singer right there, not afraid of the mic.
Alvin Arts so that's why he keeps moving it away from his face
yeah thats called good mic control. he knows how to manage the mic so that he gets the best sound possible. something dumbfucks like you these days cant even wrap there head around. they just auto tune and edit everything these days, very few real dynamic vocalists anymore.
AsTheWheelsTurn buddy if I was a dumb fuck why would I be listening to this song, so your saying people who listen to megadeth, weezer, Metallica, Alice In Chains, and more are dumb fucks. Use some common sense bud, and don't start your period when you read a comment when someone disagrees
you are a dumbfuck because you are unable to understand why he pulls the mic away from his face dude. if you listen to the way his vocals fade out its clear that he does this on purpose and it's part of there sound and it shows talent, not "being afraid of a microphone" I listen to all the same shit you listed , I dont see how that has anything to do with anything. I called you a dumbfuck because you are clueless about what this guy is actually doing with the mic.
You're clearly arguing with a know- it -all, angsty teenager... who else lists their fav bands like a badge of honor loll
I could not live here without UA-cam.
I agree.
I like how they speak with their bodies.

Such a great performance. Perry seems so happy and joyful.
This has become one of my favourite performances of all time from any band. Incredible

Same here. I think perrys voice sounds so clear..his crazy ass sometimes outshines his voice but not here, vocals are flawless.

This is pretty great indeed.
I know right
It sounds incredible. Better than the original
Holy crap this is so good.
man this video is literally just a bunch of friends having a good time, you can just see the joy on their faces
Perry sounds so great . Get healthy Perry ❤
That steel drum is the special ingredient to this song. This strummy type of music is very reminiscent of Zeppelin to me. Reminds me of the 3rd record.
Wow, I'd never really thought of that but Jane Says sounds a hell of a lot like Over the Hills and Far Away.
Max D over the hills has a lot more going on guitar wise but yea
might be because of the same G->A thing with a hammer on going on that happens in Zep's song in the 'many times ive tried many times...' part. Take that part and make the whole song about it and that's essentially jane says main rhythm part
Max D so true. i never noticed till now
I love this song/album/band, but if it wasn't for the steel, this song would be so monotonous to listen to with the same 2 1/2 chords throughout the entire song. I might even go as far as to say that it may had sucked?
Don't get me wrong, as I type this, I would never think that I would be saying anything remotely bad about Jane's! But...
When they pan to Navarro, it seems as if he's not only trying to hide the 'not this song again' look, but a 'this song AND this seemingly endless hand cramping chord progression... again?!'
I don't know, does anyone else that has listened to this song/album since its inception feel the same? I know, I'm a full on cynic so...
Ah, the show that concertgoers deserved. Perry is amazing when he's sober.
Lifes hard man. Cut him some slack.
I said what I said.

I always thought this was like the coolest group of guys ever brought together. Navarro, Perry, Stephen Perkins. My favorite actually is their original bass player Eric Avery, crazy underrated, but being subbed out by Duff is a hell of a replacement.
So true.
I tried these two chords a bunch
him crossed his leg was boss move😁
I've watched this hundreds of times. I love that Perry is not dominating the video/song, just blending in. Love when Dave crosses his legs, all casual and all. Awesome.

Crosses his legs?? Not his voice, or the way he dominates the stage. But crosses his legs?? I need answers from God on this one. That's just odd that's the only thing that grabs you is crossing his legs. F*ckin beeeezzzaarre!!!!

That voice is like a time capsule!!!!! Pura Vida!!
Perfect Jam
With only
Two chords
Incredible
That's why we listen is emotion.
This version literally sounds and feels like a breath of fresh air!
Wow!! I was wondering how this was going to sound live. Never heard this version. It's gorgeous ❤️
