I’m 55 now. 2 kids raised as a single mom. Jamming to this song -2024. Reminds me of simpler times when I was hot and young. This kind of sucks but isn’t it great how music can take you back and give you energy to get off your ass and move on?!!!
I lost my Mom very suddenly and unexpectedly on May 5th. She loved Collective Soul, we listened to them a lot when I was growing up and this song came on in the car tonight... I started crying so hard. I miss her so much! 💔🖤💔🖤💔
So sorry for your loss. Losing a parent is hard, overwhelming - something that never crosses your mind until your faced with it. Keep your chin up. I can’t tell you it gets better, but with time it does get easier.
There's something so magical about Ed Roland. Ed wrote "Shine" all by himself in a basement, hoping to get a publishing deal one day because he was nearly 30 and thought he had no chance to be a songwriter. But 27 years later and millions of records sold later- here he is giving it all to the fans who helped give him the life, love, music and career he has today. He is truly a legendary songwriter, humble gentleman and multi-talented. I'm sure he never would've dreamed that by the time he was 57, he played at 2 Woodstock concerts, recorded with Elton John, played live with the Atlanta Symphony Youth Orchestra, got inducted into the Georgia Music Hall of Fame twice, toured with and met hundreds of classic, great bands, and more all because he wrote "Shine" in his basement one evening. He was meant to shine.
@@KL-er7yi That's how they saved me from committing suicide when I was 19! I met Ed and told him all about it and he told me to never think suicidal again
To be fair, they were "late bloomers" compared to other acts in the 90's. Creates an illusion that their music's older than it really is. Dave Grohl and Ed Roland hit it big at roughly the same time, yet you couldn't tell by looking at them. But yeah.... we getting old.
Just shared that shit on Facebook. I don't feel old at 40 but I feel old as shit seeing this video. They look and sound like a cover band when we used to walk into clubs and shit. Cheers.

Collective soul, you will always have a great place in my heart, I saw you for the first time at Woodstock 94, and I love you and will love you forever 🥰🌸

I had a friend who always listened to this song her younger son Brian loved it he died at the age of 9 my beautiful friend is gone now also this band will always have a special place in my heart because of them
When I heard "Shine" all those years ago on Jersey's rock, WDHA-FM, I went out and bought Hints, Allegations and Things Left Unsaid. After that, I've bought every album sight unseen, knowing it would be awesome. Listening to Collective Soul is a shot of vitamin B. Being there live is like finding the fountain of youth. Can't wait until this lockdown is over and get back in the audience. Thanks for this in the meantime. ROCK ON!
Collective Soul this song has a special meaning to me on Thursday during a charity benefit concert that was for the people in Turkey and Syria. As a kid in the 70’s, a teenager in the 80’s, and a young adult in the 90’s, I feel like I have lived through the best years.
Your not wrong. People and music was better then. Take some satisfaction in that.
You must be about 50 now right?

What I found was a band that can still kick ass as well as they did in the 90’s!! 🤘🏼💪🏼😎
Teenagers nowadays will never understand that we used to FEEL the music and not just hear it… 🤘
We used to own it... And it had weight because we had to earn whatever was needed to own it.
That's such a boomer thing to say dude
Just turned 74 and this song, these guys just kick my ass like they did 20 some years ago. DAMN
Me,too!!
65 here. I’m proud to know that I don’t have to give up my music simply to “act my age”. Screw that!!! Thank you for the inspiration.
