A LEGO build unlike any other

  • I have received many AOT comments about this particular build and it always makes me laugh. Making some LEGO titans should be my next step in this MOC. 😂
Warning! Don't ever use reddish brown LEGO parts for brick bending. The only reason I have this color of bricks and plates is because I didn't know any better at the time I bought them. They are notoriously brittle, and I only use them now with great care. No other color (in my experience) is nearly as terrible as this one. That being said, once upon a time a built a massive ring out of them, so here it is. 😅
    How to support Brick Bending:
    - Follow me for free updates, or consider a support tier: / brickbending
    - Buy a DIY kit: wlwyb.com/shop/
    - Buy a piece of original LEGO art: www.brickbending.com/shop

    Piece Count: 2x4 plates (640), 1x2 plates (1280)

I don't have a problem with all of the other builds like this, but using brown pieces in a build that stresses the pieces is a recipe for disaster. They break easier than any other color in my experience.

    • @BrickBending
      @BrickBending  2 роки тому +1429

This is legit. They only reason I own reddish brown pieces is because I didn't know any better in my early days of building, and I built the first iteration of this many years ago (along with a number of other unfortunate builds). Because these bricks were first stressed in this particular way they can still handle the strain, but if I tried to build any other brick bending design with them today, many would likely break and it would be sad and frustrating. Reddish brown bricks are very brittle and generally should be avoided.

@@laughingbulbasaur3291 my guess is that they've gotten more brittle with age. When they were new they behaved like all the other bricks and I created some pretty crazy builds out of them. But now they are only fine if I don't try to do anything different with them. A few of those old builds still exist, but if I dropped them they'd literally shatter. Maybe that could be a video 😱

    ON_A_SEPARATE_NOTE:
I look forward to your thoughts on the different colors, & just how much stress each color can tolerate.
(You had mentioned the possibility of such a video, in one of the early episodes.)
Have you found that the same color might handle the same amount of stress differently, depending on whether it's a BRICK, a PLATE, or a TILE?
What would you suggest is the best way to put each of these "variables" to the test, in order to get reliable results?

      PS:
Thanks-so-much for including a "breakdown" of how many pieces were used, & of what kind --- it's super-helpful!

I find that tiles don't 'stick' to studs as well as plates--that's just my experience. So when you put them under stress the tiles are more likely to pop off. Not sure if that's different with 2x4 tiles as I've never used those before. But I'd suspect this would still work with those...and it would be amazingly shiny. : )

Regarding colors, it would be fun to do some thorough experimentation, but my suspicion is that whatever they use to color the various bricks/plates affects the strength of the plastic--regardless of brick, plate, or tile. In my experience black, lime green, and yellow seem to have the most give (without breaking). Tan has the least. Reddish brown is just terrible and brittle, and the only reason I have a lot is because I bought a lot early on in my bending days. I always bend with reddish brown with extreme care.😬

Would be cool to use clear lego instead and make it into a lamp shade.

You could use some translucent bricks and turn this into a nice lamp shade 😉

OH MY GEE, you should make one similar to this where the pieces connect on all sides so you can make an actual Lego Ball! ^_6

Person: hey do you have any 1x2 and 2x4 flat brown pieces? It’s for a build I’m making.
