- There are many different ways on how to roll and secure the lines on your bar while performing Self Rescue. In this episode I am doing one method that it is faster in light wind conditions but I prefer not showing it to my students because it needs a specific way of securing the lines.
I will also share with you how to prevent from having any wind in your kite while performing Self Rescue. I also tested if we are able to go upwind while sailing with our kite.

Thank you so much Bro,I have some ideas for help myself😄
From Thailand 🇹🇭
Great 🤗
another banger! thanks Petar!
My pleasure!! :))
Thank you, Petar, for one more useful video! Short, precise, and to the point. A question from newbie: a spot with off-shore wind and no rescue is 100% no go? I have not tried self-rescue upwind yet 😅
Thank you for your support 🙏🏻
Yes, off shore winds are not safe to practice Kitesurfing. In case you kite in an off shore spot and you have to perform self rescue because you are too far from the shore to swim, use the kite as a small boat and hopefully someone will see you and come to help.
It's actually scary to see how many people still use those old bars. I never managed much with those either.
Not on the market anymore :)
Hvala for the great videos you produce! Regarding the figure of 8 vs one side rolling - how do you secure the lines when rolling on one side if not half hitch or bungie?
Thank you Zlatko, in my full episode of Self Rescue you can see how exactly to secure the lines after rolling them on one side of the bar: Self Rescue - ( Kitesurf Tutorial )

@@kitesurfexperiencebypetar Oh - that is nice! 👍That is also the better way to secure the flag line(which I always roll on one side) even if afterwards I roll all the lines in figure 8. 🤙
Great, I'm happy you found this technique useful :)
nice one, shared !
Amazing, thank you :))
I had a bit of an issue with the kite catching wind today… pulled me harder than I expected.
Do you know the reason why your kite pulled you harder than you expected?
Why would you care about sailing upwind during self-rescue?? The point to get to the beach asap. That's all.
Exactly, I agree.. I was just wondering and thinking about it when someone mentioned to me that you are able to Sail upwind while sailing with your kite. When I have been thinking a bit, it is true that it might be the end of the beach so you want to be able to point more side ways towards the beach to not miss it. This tip of at least not loose too much hight it might be good for some spots.
But yes also I was not able to travel upwind as some people mentioned it to me.
Really? What about doing self rescue in offshore wind? Where would you sail to the beach downwind?
Shouldn't go kiting in offshore winds if no boat rescue available
And if it would be offshore wind I would do full packdown ( just leave struts inflated) zmd swim back.
@@stokakrishna well somwtimes there is no choice if you want to kite. And have you ever try to swim back with equipment in 20 or 30 knots of wind? Try it first maybe
