1996 yzf600RHC basic engine disassembly for 2nd gear replacment. show complete engine through splitng the cases and investigating gear damage. to 2nd and 6th gear wheels. not a replacemen for service manual but will show you what you are in for, in donig the job yourself. replacement, reassembly, and engine install vids to follow.

yea they dont look too bad at all. mine never popped out. it just didnt like going into gear, grind and through the lever back, breaking shift shaft tabs. my shift forked rubbed in an odd way, so the bit of gear wear and shif drum made my fork funny making shifting difficult wearing other parts. i had replaced the fork previously and it wore out like the old one quickly so it was obviously more than that, prompting rebuild. bike had a little over 40k with some track miles on it too.

Was your second gear slipping out yet? Or did you rebuild before it started. It didn't look awful, definatly worn but not awful. and how many miles where on your bike during the rebuild.

Hi Daytona! question, at high RPM shifting ( 6000 and higher rpms), the first and second gear make some noise, i open up Transmission and the gear parts are ok. Clutch is also good.
Do you have an idea?
do you have an idea why this too gears are noise

Yeah thats not bad for 40k, by not like to go into gear do you mean when your sitting going from netrual to first, or from first to second while rolling?

Thanks for the replys man, Hows it shift now? Mine always gets into second, 70% perfectly smooth 29% of the time its a little clunky but always still makes it into the gear, i Have never had it slip out or go into a 'false netural' and 1%, well, My stupidity kicks in and i shift directly into netural lol, but i think everyone missess that shift from time to time, or maybe its just me hehe.

either i gues, though i dont often go from 1st to 2nd at a stand still but for testing yes it was trouble. but really on the roll any speed any load it was a crap shoot if the gear whould stay in place or slip out and kick the shift lever back at me. the real truth of the matter on these machines as far as 2nd goes. if you are having any kind of problem limited to that gear, it needs to be opened up, any less and you MIGHT just buy SOME time.
