Nice video, only he made a great fault at the end. Before fastening the lower forkbolts that fasten the axle you MUST first take the bike off the jack and compress the fork so the fork can aligne on the axle. Only after that action you may fasten the 8 mm bolts!!

Can this be done with the engine attached to the frame? What do you use to plug the holes once the module came out? Do you have to syn the carb or do something once it is removed from the engine? Does it effect the performance of the bike?Thanks . I have 89 fzr 600 California model. Engine is the same as above. I'm trying to removal as much chunk as possible to save gas.

Could you not have loosened that lower bolt whilst the stanchion was still clamped in the triple tree clamps? I'll be changing my thundercat bushes soon and I think that's how I'll do it, unless I'm missing something.

Do you have a carbs video? Having a hard time finding the right refurb kit. When it sits awhile it gets a little gas in the oil and gas in the cylinders that makes it hard to start up sometimes. I think it's float needles and valve seat. My fuel tap just lets gas run out when disconnected I can't shut it off. I recently found and fitted an uncracked right side fairing same colors as yours and want to do the carb clean I've been putting off. It needs the intake runner boots badly as they've been gasket gooped over due to cracks before I even bought it. It still runs good but I don't ride it much since it gets gas in the oil if I let it sit for a few days. I wish the yzf forums were still online 😵

Do you know if it’s possible to remove the head without taking out the whole engine?

i would recommend chalk to mark the cam sprockets to the cam chain before removing. It would help when you put them back

i did the job about 4 years ago, but I didn't have to remove the chain tensioner or remove the cam shaft entirely off. I used magnet tool to pull out the shims and replace them one by one as I turn the alternator bolt counter clockwise.

Great video, you mentioned something about ''it going bang'' when starting, i got that problem with my yamaha yzf600. its hard to start, sometimes it turns over and then it locks up (bang), sometimes it just ticks and dose not even turn over, eventually is starts, but i really would like to fix it. You know what the problem could be.
