The fact that one man managed to build what is basically a low budget version of Efteling by hand is even more amazing than the masterpiece he created.I feel obligated to go there just for that.
During the shutdowns, they were raising funds and I purchased a print of the park map signed by Roger Tofte and bought a brick in the medieval village area as well... I like the rides there...and I like the haunted house as well! Have major respect for anyone that goes out there and builds their own park and in this case, he really did go out and build it himself
Went here a ton growing up, haven’t been able to visit in recent years! Met Mr. Tofte a few years back and he was an absolute joy! An amazing man who created a memorable forest park! Thanks for all the great footage!
Family owned and created, even visiting it as an adult for the first time I could see how much love and care had been put into making as much of a magical place just outside of Salem, Oregon as he could. I went on all the rides, got to see the water show and Celtic Band, and honestly, I will still be going back every year.
I’ve driven past enchanted forest several times a year my whole life never knowing what’s in there. This looks like something I’d enjoy, I’ll have to visit on a day off sometime.
I come here every year, ever since I was a kid (minus the shutdowns of course) It really holds a special place in my heart. I'm glad Enchanted Forest has been getting more recognition online in the past few years.
I love this place!! Me and my friend were arguing about who would go in the front and back of the log ride…and she chose front WITHOUT a poncho. Let’s just say one of us got way more soaked than the other 😂
Theres something about listening to you reviewing parks and coasters in obscure parks on other continents I know I'll never visit that's very calming and relaxing to me. Keep doing what you're doing man.
Went here a bunch as a kid. Not too too much since it was about an hour away, but still close enough for two or three visits in the Summer. Always loved it. Then, after I graduated High School and my younger siblings stopped caring about going to places like this, I haven't been since. It would pop in my head every now and then, and I would hope it was still around, but I wouldn't look it up for fear of the worst. Then, last year, I was going up to Portland for medical reasons (all better now). I look off to my side to check if they were still open. Now, I couldn't see any big "open" signs or anything, but it looked maintained so my spirits were lifted. Another trip and I looked and noticed that there were a good number of cars in the lot. That cemented the knowledge that it was still operational, and made me happy. I still wanna go back there. My inner child yearns for it. I vow to one day go back, especially knowing the history now.
@@CanobieCoaster I figured and want to go there at least for nostalgia. Unfortunately I'm gonna be getting a graveyard shift job soon so things will be more complicated.
it was surreal to see a video about this place. it felt like a place I dreamed up as a kid. as far back as 30 years ago. I'm amazed it actually existed and is still around
Definitely a full day park, loved exploring all the weird corners, especially with pinnochio's house and the cave light show. And Challenge of Mondor was one of the biggest surprises I have ever experienced at any park, had no idea it was there and didn't expect a park this scale to have a top 15 dark ride (people saying lost island's dark ride is the best non-chain dark ride haven't been here lmao)
We've been several times, our kids love the free slides and Indian Caves. I enjoy the fact that the whole park has shady areas, so even when it's 90F you can find relief - especially if you view the water-lights show. They have a picnic area and don't mind you bringing your own food. I like the fact that this park provides employment for the local high school kids.
Crazy I am 32 haven't lived in Oregon for 20 years and I still remember this place from than. Definitely want to bring my wife and kids to experience this. I'm glad it's still around.
Enchanted Forest has a very special place in my heart. It's a wonderful place to walk through as an adult. Every bit of it is handmade and it shows in the nicest way. I just wanted to mention that Mr Tofte the owner who is in his 80s I believe still does a lot of work on the park. The Humpty Dumpty in the video is a replacement he made of the original that some tourists broke a few years back.
Hello! I am a former employee at the enchanted forest theme park, I quickly skimmed through the video because I thought it was cool to see a review of the park so I didn't know if you already addressed the wrist bands but they were removed due to people buying them during summer and still having to wait hours for rides and eventually they wouldn't even be able to ride the ride because of the wait times. so TLDR the wrist bands ended up costing customers more money than just buying the tickets to ride the rides so they removed the wristbands.
This park has been on my bucket list for a long time. I'm not sure if you are aware, but just outside Baltimore, in a town called Ellicott City, there was an Enchanted Forrest Theme Park too. We used to go as kids in the early 80s. While it had no roller coasters, it did have some smaller rides, slides, and plenty of walk through attractions. Storybook Land in New Jersey is very similar to what it used to be like in its walk through area. Look it up. I'm sure you'd love to see some of its history. Some of the structures and park items were moved to a nearby farm to be preserved too. The farm allows people to come visit to view them too.
I used to go to the Enchanted Forest in RI lol. It was sooo fun. I've been a goer of Story Land in NH as well since I was a child, they're incredible and have done so much to update the park.
went back in may, honestly so much fun. I think Challenge of mondor and the log ride coaster where my two favorite rides. and the park itself is just so cool and unique! from what I have seen of Efteling its like a mini Efteling! Challenge of Mondor literally shot up to my favorite shooting dark ride I have done!
honestly same, enjoyed it more than men in black, the element of the trackless vehicle going into an enclosed room absolutely FULL of targets is such a good use of the system

Truly one of one of the most lovely theme parks I’ve ever been to if not the most. I think I was 6 or 7 and now I’m 31.
We just went for the first time recently and the line to get on to the enclosed coaster was almost two hours long according to the signs. However, since we were a party of two amongst a crowd of larger groups we got called up after about 20 minutes of waiting when they needed to fill space [as did some other single and double rider folks before us]. We waited an hour in line for Chalange of Mondor. If you love kitch and jank like I do it's a really fantastic attraction. If the line wasn't so long with so little else to do in the park I'd go back to to ride that a few times in a row.
I saw that Possibly Irish was playing there. I would definitely have enjoyed seeing them. This park has been on my radar for the theming. I really enjoyed that area of Idlewild, and I loved Storybook Land in New Jersey.
Possibly Irish is really fun to see! I got to sit in on the last show of the night on the day I was there, and honestly was a fantastic way to send us off back into the real world.
As a long time resident of Oregon (moved up here when I was a kid), Enchanted Forrest was a must growing up here. Specifically, the indian caves were super fun to play tag in… but I didn’t hear it mentioned in this video so maybe they closed it down.
They're still open, and the thing my kids (now 12 and 9) enjoyed the most when we last visited last year. We're been several times. I suspect he skipped them because they're a really tight squeeze for an adult.
@@ziploc2000 Hahaha, yeah, they barely work for 12 year olds. I remember as I got older and older, I went from being able to run around in those caves, to having to duck my head, to finally having to basically crawl. Jokes on them though since they couldn’t follow us inside. Bwahhahahahaha. You can see I’m still basically a kid at heart. Not much maturity in these last 40 years.
This was always the go to place for any Oregonian (as well as Thrill Ville USA, which was right next door to Enchanted Forest and closed down years ago) who couldn't afford to go to California's theme parks. An important note on the ride tickets - yes they are $1 per ticket, however you can exchange unused tickets upon exit for a refund, so you don't run the risk of the "City Fair" style bulk purchase of tickets that force you to have unused tickets at the end because ticket counts don't work out with the multiples of the ride costs.
You mention the live music but the older women playing on the left is actually the daughter of the man who created this place. She’s even the person who created all the music tracks you mention play throughout the park.
