In this day and age, "classic amusement park" IS a theme and it's still one of the best ones.
I wouldn't call it a theme, more of a vibe. But that's fine if the park looks nice.
Excellent review of my home park! I agree with every single point you made and I'm so glad to call this home! Also thanks for the credit for the Pirate's Cove POV. It was an older version but it got the job done. Can't wait to be back all this summer for more!
nice!
arent you the one who randomly banned me from your discord server for ridiculously petty reasons?
@@dytamic it wasn't petty. You were controlling my discord and adding channels without my permission so that's why you were banned. It was a security concern
I can't wait to get back on Pirate's Cove. Haven't been on that in 5 years.
@@CanobieCoaster this year is the 50th anniversary of Pirate's Cove so I definitely recommend coming back to ride it (and of course Ravine Flyer II).
@@InsaneCoasterJunkie mate, it wasn't a security concern. you banned me when i was trying to help. i was in the middle of writing rules.
your FRIENDS told you that. you had no reason to ban me.
Looks way more relaxing than most US parks, would love to visit!
It is.
It’s really fun and there’s a really scary ride called the chaos it’s where you spin around in the air
Excellent video as always!! I agree, Waldemeer Park is awesome. The grounds and landscaping is gorgeous, kinda reminds me of Geauga Lake and Kennywood Park's landscaping. And since this awesome park is still around, several of us from Ohio make the trip to Erie to visit Waldemeer. I met the owner and his wife last summer. Terrific people and also met the General Manager, all were so appreciative of the kind words I gave them and their staff is very nice. Potato Patch fries are here too!! Owners were very cognizant of the security of the park, staff, and guests. Definitely LOVE Waldemeer Park. Long may it prosper. And thank you for the GREAT WORK and video of a special place.
Are the Potato Patch fries new?
@@CanobieCoaster Oh hell no!! They are available at the stand to the left of the Comet, and the entrance to Water World!!! Yummy!! And. I heard they brought back gravy for the fries this year!!!!
Went to Waldemeer Park last Monday. No gravy for the Potato Patch fries, just that icky cheese sauce for an extra dollar. But the burgers were very good and the fries were delicious.
I love this park a lot. Wonderful small, old-school, community park feel, a world-class woodie, and two fantastic classic dark rides.
It really has a great feel.
Love that your reviewing all these. I’m going to every park in Pennsylvania, Ohio, New Jersey and Indiana in July so this has been helpful. Especially your food recommendations
You're welcome!
I grew up minutes away from this park, and have lots of great memories there. Comet, which my mom forced me to ride in the late 80s when I was 3, was my first roller coaster. She literally dragged me to the seat while I cried. She knew I'd love it, even if I wasn't so sure. She says I cried and screamed through the whole thing, and then begged, through tears, to ride it again. Now I live in central Florida and have easy access to lots of great parks and rides, but it all started with Comet at Waldameer. It's still such a great little park, and Erie's so lucky to have it.
Nice!
I vacation in Erie couple times a year, and I always spend a day each trip at Waldameer. Great park, that has continued to make improvements over the years. Love the park.
Nice!
I am going there soon and i have never been on a roller coaster so i am excited
Enjoy!
This is such a cute park and yes Ravine Flyer II is extremely underrated
Most people rate Ravine Flyer II well. It's more underridden.
I have gotten to visit Waldameer quite a bit in my life. My grandparents live in the town of North East, and most times we would visit, we would come here. Ravine Flyer II is solid, and Water World is a great waterpark as well. Whenever I visit, I make it a point to go to a restaurant nearby called Sara's. They have some really good food.
I've been there for food. It was solid.
Great review, Canobie. I showed up expecting to ride Ravine Flyer II a few times and leave, but I ended up spending six or seven hours. Cool place.
It is.
I would definitely like to visit Waldameer sometime. Ravine Flyer 2 looks so good!
Sure is!
I went to waldameer a couple years ago, and as someone who doesn't like super intense rides and waterslides, I loved this park. Waterworld was amazing. I agree that there is something for everyone there. There are maybe 3 or 4 inner tube slides, and the battle of lake Erie slides are fun for a younger customer. The wave pool is great as well! Hope I'm going this summer !
It really is a nice family park.
I love Waldameer! It has such charm to it. I ended up with only 3.5 hours here, but I still got 15 rides on Ravine Flyer II, plus several rerides on others. Because of the limited time, I didn't do the waterpark. I had the best time here, and I'd love to go back. Ravine Flyer II is one of my favorite wooden coasters, with the smoothness, airtime, and spectacular setting giving one of my favorite views on any coaster.
You MUST ride it at night!! It will scare the crap out of you!!!!!
@@timothykaczmarek5871 I agree. I need to get night rides on this! From my first ride, I knew that it must be a legendary night ride. It will be quite difficult, with the park typically closing before sunset. I'll have to plan very carefully.
It's easy to do a ton there.
LOVE WALDAMEER! I usually do the water park for a couple of hours first, then ride rides until closing time. 😁
Makes sense!
This charming liberal museum park. I used to live 5 minutes away from walking distance. I got my first roller coaster right here on the comet. I love waldameer and it will always be my hometown amusement park. Very underrated park. ❤
Love that park.
Perfect review and I hope to visit waldameer later this year and hopefully I will be able to use some of your tips. I am a bit confused why they added the sbs visa if they already have a true family coaster in ravine flyer 3.
They couldn't have fit many other rides where they jammed that SBF Visa.
Even though I live 3 hours from erie, my grandparents and I go there every year. I've been going to Waldameer since 2011 and I still love going there. An all day wristband is cheap and it's easy to marathon one of my favorite coasters of all time!
Nice!
Ravine Flyer 2 looks really solid with all it has. Its not the longest ride but it serves perfect for the parks main attraction. Comet is like Little Dipper, and Steel Dragon is a spinning coaster by Maurer. It seems like weird having a Ravine Flyer 2 and 3 but not 1 cause it's now gone.
It's a nice lineup for a park like this.
lived in Pgh PA my entire life, and have never been here. My husband's family went in the 70s and it was very run down so that's probably why we've never gone. Maybe this park deserves another look!
It's a nice one.
The reason the park is probably so underrated is because when enthusiast think of Parks on lake Erie something tells me that it’s gonna be the first part that comes to mind
Fair!
"the theme is not having theming" is a step up from the modern "the theme is to be run-down and trashed" thing some chain parks have going on in areas. And it's definitely better than Eisner's idea to just make the theme "facades and sound stages" to save money.
I have no problem with an unthemed park as long as it looks nice. Waldameer looks great.
@@CanobieCoaster I didn't mean to sound disparaging about it, it does require effort to even pull off a clean classic style. There's much more to enjoy with that than most of the mid- and lower-tier chain parks.
A mack multilaunch would be perfect here. It would offer a nice steel coaster and thrill ride, which they need. But, the tamer launches would fit in well with the family atmosphere.
It would be a pricey add for them. I'd like to see a Sky Rocket II or a Raptor.
They could relocate T3 and call it Ravine Flyer 4. This is not serious and I feel an RMC Raptor or Wild Moose would do wonders here
Thank you for this video. Just watched a Six Flags America review (violence, neglect, 5-10 minute ride dispatches, etc). This Waldameer vid was not only effective eye bleach, but convinced me to add on to a Cedar Point trip. My question is, for a person not from the area, what are the best parks to pair Waldameer with on a road trip?
From my one visit to SFA it was very clean and nice. I would say that a lot of the buildings are very outdated, which to some may give a rund down appearance. All rides were running on my visit with national average dispatches, except for Batwing which was around the 3 minute mark. Taller guest can't ride Superman tho
Cedar Point, Kennywood, and Waldameer are all a few hours from each other. You can also pair Waldameer with the Niagara area parks.
Sad to say , I have never been to this Park . I have driven past it a few times and admired what I could see . May it stand the test of time !
It should last a while.
Waldammer es
asombroso
Yes!
Congrats For Figuring
That Out
Love this little park
Me too.
Just subbed to your channel. Been meaning to do it. Really like the looks of this park. Small but charming. I'd ride them woodies for sure. I think that Spinning Dragon ride would be a good possibility for Canada's Wonderland. Do they have funnel cakes? Yummy.
They do have funnel cakes.
Those are my kids on the kiddie coaster! I showed them the video and they thought it was so cool they were in a UA-cam video!
Awesome!
Right before you even said it, I was thinking to myself "I wonder if it's meant to be Pennsylvania Dutch for Wald am Meer (pronounced "vald ahm mare"), if it's woody but on a lake"
I guess I'll be calling it that now 😅 I've really only heard about the park because of Ravine Flyer II, but I could easily see popping into the park for a short visit just for that, and this park looks like a pretty solid value for all the other offerings - and you can't beat cheap food at an amusement park
And the food is GOOD!!
It really is a nice park.
I am going over the 4th of July weekend. It looks like a more relaxed kind of an amusement park with the classic rides I like. It reminds me of Geauga Lake of the '80s and early '90s. I can't wait to ride Ravine Flyer 2.
It really has a nice atmosphere.
@@CanobieCoaster It really does have a nice atmosphere. Ravine Flyer 2 was awesome. You definitely were right about the Music Express. That's the fastest Himilaya I've ever rode.
Looks really pleasant
It is.
Deep fried soft pretzels sound dangerously good.
Yes
You should make a pretzel tier list video! Haha
I have a best food video.

I’m so used to every Himalaya going forwards and backwards on the Jersey Shore I didn’t know this was rare now 😭😭😭
I'm used to most of the ones at corporate parks only going forwards.
That's what I thought too.
I'm going there at the end of July. From what I hear the food at waldameer is pretty cheap compared to the large chain parks like Six Flags or Cedar Fair. Oh... In addition to the ride lineup, maybe they should add a hyper coaster... Something like steel Force at Dorney Park.
It is very cheap. I'd love a hyper, but I don't think it will happen here.
@@CanobieCoaster I will probably hit Ravine Flyer 2 if they were to add a Hyper Coaster....they should call it Ravine Flyer 4.
First like !!! Great review.
Thanks!
I hate roller-coasters, really loud and crowded places so this sounds like the perfect place for me!
I'm going to Waldemeer in a few weeks for the first time to any amusement park ever wuth a couple of friends.
Enjoy!
@@CanobieCoaster Thanks, I will post an update. 😁
I love that place lol its so fun
Indeed.
Rest in Piece Paul Nelson 1924-2023. You will be missed.
He did a great job with the park! RIP
How would rank these five PA parks (listed alphabetically): Dorney Park, Hersheypark, Kennywood, Knoebels, Waldameer
(I *love* living in Pennsylvania!)
Knoebels (when staffing isn't an issue, has been since covid), Hershey, Kennywood, Waldameer, Dorney
It's not often that I see a Musik Express ride get highlighted!
I've ridden a few disappointing ones that were slow and only went forwards. Riding one that has some speed to it really makes it more fun than you'd think it would be.
This one is very good.
Is Waldameer better than SFDL
I agree.
Most underrated park in america
One of them.
I‘m German and I heard of this park a few times (mainly because of Ravine Flyer 2, I guess) but yi never made the connection that the name originates from „Wald am Meer“ 😀
After learning it was German, I was surprised it didn't have a V sound at the start.
I describe Waldameer was
"Go for ravine flyer 2, stay for the water park"
I spend most of my time in the dry side.
Some news channel used ur Orlando Freefall off ride and it got like 13 million
Which station? Hopefully it helped their story and raised awareness for the tragedy that occurred.
@@CanobieCoaster idk
This park is free admission? I didn't know that. And it's $50. I don't consider that bad as it's around the cost of other gated parks like Adventureland Iowa.
The only time free admission was removed was during covid.
@@CanobieCoaster And during major summer holidays when the local trash started fights inside the park that required Milford Police to intervene.
Controversial opinion: Whacky Shack is better than Knoebels Haunted Mansion. Top dark ride in PA
I prefer Haunted Mansion, but love both.
How is Ohio roller coaster capital of the world when pa seems to have far more parks. They have kenobles, hershey park, waldemeer, Conneaut lake park, am I missing any? I feel like the loss of geauga lake crippled is. Still holding hope that somebody opens a geauga lake replacement here. Also...... Erect.... 😆
I think PA is the best overall state for amusement parks when you consider what the state itself has plus the surrounding ones.
Knoebels is the second underrated park in Pennsylvania
And where’s ravine flyer 4 😂
I hope RF4 happens one day lol
It would be impressive if ride only went over highway once
True!
wally wally mear mear
