    Grew up farming!!! If you were Farming back then, 70's , Turning Dirt , yea, Wrenches!! Using the front hitch to back a 4 wheel wagon, yea!!! Used ours for grinding feed, mowing, had a 7' sic. mower for hay, pulled the hay wagon.. Pulled everything!! Loved that tractor!! And the M we had!!!!

    I love the H, mine is also a 1946 that my late grandpa ordered new in December of 1945 with his Army bonus after he was discharged and it didn't arrive until August of 1946, I've owned it since 1997.

      That's neat. I like it when the next generation appreciates things like that.

    I think early h and m had horizontal distributer [ factory ]
    and later tractors with live hydraulics had the pump go where the distributor was and the distributer went up with the right angle gear

      Could be. Either way, I like the vertical distributor the best.

    Can't argue with an H.

    Is there a definitive way to tell a Farmall H from an M without the identification tag or logos/badging?

    • @turnindirtandwrenches

      The clutch and brake pedals on an H will be almost straight, the pedals on an M curve towards the back of the tractor.

    The seat is a knoedler. Still in business but do not sell those anymore. If you were closer I would trade ya seats and throw in a grill insert! You are probably the only person that has had good luck with the delco distributors. The have bevel gears inside that wear and allow the timing to bounce around too much. The delco is aftermarket. Your tractor most likely had a mag from factory. Very creative hydraulic set up. I was scratching my head at first but it makes sense.

      That's interesting... I have a grinder and ear corn elevator made by knoedler.

      @turnindirtandwrenches  Рік тому

      Do you know if the timing curve is different on the Delco distributor vs. the IH one? It seems like I got more power when I switched.

    • @joshweiss3911
      @joshweiss3911 Рік тому

      My knowledge and experience says they perform the same. It ran better most likely because it was timed better and may have had a hotter coil. Hot coils , better wires and even correct plugs all make a difference.
