I enjoyed the tour ! I remember my dad had a 105 which was newer and bigger but still had that flip seat ! I hope you restore this . I just restored a model 30 pull type . ua-cam.com/video/ppV7t30leus/v-deo.html
Is there a definitive way to tell a Farmall H from an M without the identification tag or logos/badging?
The clutch and brake pedals on an H will be almost straight, the pedals on an M curve towards the back of the tractor.
Looks like the A model. I ran one when i was a teenager, it would get it on the road, get away from you if your not careful.😂😂😂
I love it and those are cool options on the dealer installed cab and grain bin extension ! We just bought a 1978 Gleaner L2 last week and it reminds me of your E as it has been well maintained . Between you and myself Gleaner has forgotten more about building Combines and harvesting than most will ever know ...... 😁👍
Agreed!
i have a h that was built the same month /year that i was had 2 h 2m 1 to30 fergie at one time when gas was cheap those h /m were are still great tractors 700 psi on lift all r/r many of them if you want to juice up ol h get 300/350 timing gear train/ plate add live hydraulic,s then put 350 head/manifold carb sleeves /pistons then she will purr
16mpg i dont believe that one bit i own two 360s they get average 10mph maybe 13 if your lucky.. as for pulling the manual actually has a lower tow rating than automatic
It does get 16 mpg, but it's only got about 5000 miles on the rebuilt motor. It also has a holly instead of the motor craft. As far as towing. It's always towed everything I needed it too.
Mine goes a bit faster than 10mph.
@@turnindirtandwrenches just saying amc brocures aaid 3500lbs max for manual trabsmissions. Up to 6500 with automatics with the right hitch
@@turnindirtandwrenches youres a total pos even worse than mine and mine was a pos.. One of those guys who say theyll restore it but let it continue to rot. Youll never restore it lok and you know it
The warner t18 was put in medium duty trucks, I think it will be fine in the jeep.
I greatly appreciate you average joe
Thank you.
I had a first generation A, but the E was a better machine.
I think they were pretty similar. But I have not seen an A up close.
pretty neat, dont think im horribly far from you, i have one its a square back. got mine from walton, indiana. neat machines!
Sure are!
Ahhh breaks are just a luxury✋🏼 but It’s a Buick so there is some luxury to it
It's a very nice car.
Do you know what year it is?
I'm not sure. Probably late 50s, but that's just a guess.
A silver seeder. The owner knew why it got parked. Raddle chain, variable speed shaft wear, just a few of the negatives.
It's done 200 acres of corn the last few years with no problems. The only corn that gets on the ground is from the header. And it's paid for😉
I feel like your gonna have to do something about that red corn. Each year it's gonna get worse and worse.
We're going to ear pick our seed this year. That way we can pick out the red ears.
@turnindirtandwrenches that's gonna be a long couple days. Best of luck
up draft carbs always start best with a closed throttle blade.
Good to know.
Awesome !
Thank you!
👨🔧👍👍
Thanks!
You are fortunate to have the good friends to help , bringing that ole beastie home
Yes, it makes it all more fun.
Dude has some hairy arms.
Keeps me warm in December
I've stared down a few rows of corn on an E. I can't imagine what a NARROWER machine would feel like on a hill. 2 Row 30" had to be Hell to keep upright when you ran over a Cob.
At least we don't have hills out here on the prairie.
Thank you very helpful
You're welcome!
I have the exact picker and I am trying to get it going to use this fall. However it didn't come with the belts on it. Any chance you could tell me what size of belts are on it
Sorry it took so long. The main drive belt on mine is a John Deere H2213241821. The elevator belt is a gates hi power B130. Good luck with your picker!
C2 gleaner was the best combine ever made
I've never run one of those, but I sure like my E!
Useless. NO info, too dark. Why bother?
New subscriber here. We have a few videos running our 1960 John Deere 40 with 8 foot head. I believe the motor is 115 cubic inches and 42 horsepower. You have a nice little combine there. Great video!
Thanks!
Love my H. 1946. Almost identical to the one u have.
It's a great tractor! And easy to work on too.
More videos about this truck
I want to. We've just had a lot going on lately. I was thinking of trying to do body work on it. It sure needs it!
I had an E with a two row wide head and 10 foot green platform and then I had a K with a three row 30 and a 12 foot platform very good combines good and clean grain
They are the best!
Thanks for the tour! Learned alot. Luv the ole stuff! Gotta keep em going. Dont know why, dont wanna see em die.
I understand.
I live in mikwaukee and on the 8th of this month 2 idiots were racing and damn near hit me so i swerved and hit a curb and it took out all my tires, right axle, right outter tie rod, right steering knuckle, right strut and this same brake hoes. I havent even been able to see ehat else got damaged. Its snowing and feels like -23 not to mention i lost my car key😂but its worth the fix, its git the 2.2l in it and only have 70,000 miles on her. I need to replace the back break drums but idk how to do drums. Do you have back drums? If so can you make a vkdeo on how to chancge them?
I would if I could. That grand am has all wheel disc brakes.
I love the H, mine is also a 1946 that my late grandpa ordered new in December of 1945 with his Army bonus after he was discharged and it didn't arrive until August of 1946, I've owned it since 1997.
That's neat. I like it when the next generation appreciates things like that.
Had to chuckle a little bit when you mentioned the sealed bearings. My dad had one of those with the wide rows head. He bought a five gallon bucket full of those 1” greaseless bearings at an auction and I believe he put every one on that combine!
Yeah, I wish they were all greaseable. The parts guy has to make a living somehow.
That sounds very bad, definitely not something a combine that's the best in the world would need.
Nice
Thanks
Beautiful tractor. Deserves a good life with some cosmetic and paint work. At 12yo my 1st was a ''H''. Wow that was exciting. It was the best starting machine I've even seen. Pull the throttle back about an inch and would start 1st turn over, every time.
The H is a great tractor too!
Great truck! Thanks for the video.
No problem!
What kind of hydraulic fluid does it take and how much?
My manual says to use the same oil as the motor, so 15w 40. I think it's around 4 gallons capacity, but I'm not sure on that.
Is there a dipstick for it anywhere?
@@Jimmithdean Yes, it's on top of the hydraulic reservoir right in front of the cab under the hood. It's a round aluminum knob about the size of a quarter. Beside the hydraulic fill plug.
Thanks I appreciate it🤙🏻
@@Jimmithdean No problem!
Loved this tractor on our farm mid 1940ies thru 50ies 17:25
It's a great tractor, even at 77 years old!
We could do with out that annoying, irritating background music at the beginning of the video.
You really got something there.. if one is planting 100 acres or less that is perfect. I have a lot of time on an open station E. We switched to F combines later and ran them for 40 years. The only thing is they were not designed for 200 bu/ acre corn so one has to drive very slow but the job they do is phenomenal.
I think 100 acres would be a comfortable amount to do with one.
Dad ran about 300 acres with his E although some of that was seeded to alfalfa every year as the crops were rotated. But we always combined the cover crop of oats with each new seeding. Breakdowns were rare for the E.
@@SilverGleaner It's a great machine, good on fuel too. I haven't had many problems with it, and when I did I could fix it in the field without much trouble.
I would love to have a H and fix it up .😊
My Dad’s first picker was a Wood Bros. To get the corn farther back on the wagon he removed the shroud at the top of the elevator and switched the drive and driven sprockets for the elevator speeding it up to throw the corn farther back.
That's an idea. The elevator is really too short for anything but a flare box wagon.
Is the augar tall enough to reach into a gravity waggon
Yes, at least my wagons. If they have extensions on them probably not.
I’m search pull type combine
If. Not running. Under load. It. Could. Get. Weights
Don’t. Put chopper on. Plug up. Walkers. Up. I. Had. One. Good.
Pretty cool old combine. I’ve never ran a gleaner before. I started out running a 1960 John Deere 45 in 1983 at 14 years of age. I then stepped up to IH combines with cabs with heat and air conditioning. I farmed soybeans when I started farming back then. I would definitely run yours, it’s a nice machine.
Thank you!
Nice
Thanks!
If you love this tractor so much, do it and yourself a favor and invest in some new tires because those do not look to be safe with all of that weather checking.
It could use some.
Do you know what the word glean means? Are neighbor is a custom harvester. About 30 yrs ago he told me this. A guy wanted to be a custom harvester bought a gleaner. Talked to a farmer. Yes you can help me harvest! He made a round around the field. The farmer got on the combine , looked in the grain tank! Did you adjust this combine? His answer was I have to adjust it!.
I'm not sure what you are saying. Did it need adjusting?
Yes the combine needed adjusted. All the combines made around time that E gleaner was made were cylinder/concave combines. That is the same ideal the threshing machines used. Each company made little changes they thought made their machine better. The neighbor that told me the story run John Deer a few yrs then run gleaner a few yrs. I grew up around John Deere. Gleaner was referred to as a good combine. Cylinder/concave gap and speed. Fan speed. Gap on the sieves. Ground speed. We adjusted are combine different for each crop.
@williammatzek4660 The E is a very good and very simple combine. My dad used one from 1977 through 1997. I bought my E in 1988 and still use it for oats when I grow oats. It was the best soybean combine I ever owned. Real clean sample that was easy to achieve. My R52 gets the cleanest corn sample than any combine I've run.
We don't need rock traps in this area. Where is your farm at? Do you need rock traps?
@williammatzek4660 Yes we need rock traps or the rock ejection door that the Gleaners had. I live in MN in a township named Rock Dell. We have rocks. :)
I'm about 9 miles from full vision cab company Newton , Kansas. Do you have the straw spreader for that combine? John Deere calls hydraulic speed adjustment variable speed. The cylinder concave machine will do a good job of threshing. (John Deere , gleaner)
I do not have the straw spreader, but I do have the chopper. Yes, it does a great job threshing!
@@turnindirtandwrenches are neighbor had a 550 massy ,he had a lot trouble with it.
Never been around a massy. Not many around here.
Cool machine
Thanks!
