The Fordson module F, which then morphed into the Standard N, was built from 1917 until 1946. I and many others would have to disagree on it being poor. I would have to say it was revolutionary.
John Deere fuel consumption: At least it did not use any fuel over the winter or during rainy weather, while a horse kept right on eating up a good percentage of a farm's crops!
I agree. I have an English-made Ferguson TEA-20 and a Detroit-made Massey-Ferguson 35. There's nothing wrong with the electrics on either. The Brits did have a reputation for clunky, unimaginative electrics though; my Austin Mini was really behind the times.
I'm sorry, but this video is nothing but nonsense. Great video clips, but none, NONE of these tractors could be classified as 'troublesome'. They were built by the hundreds of thousands and many are still in use today. My Massey Ferguson 35 is an example; there is absolutely nothing substandard or problematic with the original, untouched electrical system. The creator of this video does not know anything about farm tractors.
The Massey Ferguson TO35 is a true farm classic, and details like the factory ether box only add to its uniqueness. It's great to have an audience as knowledgeable and enthusiastic as you!
Myself my dad my sons and grandsons have dabbled 8n tractor restoration off and on for years . Dad shows his JD 44B I work my to 35 . Together we've got a starter set of about 10/12 tractors . At the moment I'm using an old 65 series massey Ferguson and restoring dad's massey Harris 33 then gonna try to start on my to 20 and trying to purchase I believe it's a 53 jubilee Ford basket case but after a lot of skint knuckles and cap throwing and a few words that ought not be said them old tractors are sure fun to tinker with . Have a blessed day and thanks for the reply
Correct me if I am wrong, '23-24 Model D came out with spoked flywheel which was said to come apart, so was changed to a solid flywheel. I still like this video with these old tractors.
@@davidshumski4629 It all depends on how you grab that crank. If a person grabs it like you do a baseball bat then you are looking for trouble which means a broken arm. You hold your thumb back, that way should the tractor, car kicks back you should not have that problem. I had a '36 Chevy with crank.
As for the Massey, it was typical of the time, that was Lucas Electrics. Lucas remember is: The Prince of Darkness, they developed the Dim/Flicker and Off light switch, they are the reason that Brits drink warm beer. There is a bunch of them around NC Ohio running, but they have Motorola or GM alternator conversions and the remaining wiring replaced with something larger than Speaker wire. Have a 77 year old CASE VAC that is a gen around machine, it runs fine. Yes I changed the electricals out, not because they failed but because in the winter that 6V starter made it interesting. Upgraded to a GM one wire alternator, replaced all of that cotton rubber wiring and it works fine along with now I can put real lights on it.
Not manufactured by Ford Motor Co. But by Henry Ford and Son. We had a 1930 JD D. Powerful? About 40 HP. And it was quite fuel efficient. Fictional video by someone without a clue.
If the TO35 was so bad. How come mine is purring like a kitten with over 4k hours and never been apart? And the Joney Poper wasn't that hard on fuel. Nothing in the video was truthful, 💯 fictional.
Nice video of some popular old tractors. The accompanying commentary is pure rubbish, but it's nice to see the video. Btw, is anyone old enough here to tell me if the Fordson F had a worm gear final drive? If so, there may have been a speck of truth in the commentary about the Fordson's transmission issues. They were all dead or in museums by the time I was a youngster.
If these were the worst or most troublesome tractors ever made, there sure are a LOT of them around now.

after the d jd was warmed up most switched over to kerosene, which at that time was way cheaper than gasolene
With the eliminating of the horsestock a surplus was created and depressed crop prices. A farmer could produce animal feed but not tractor fuel.
English Ferguson 20 had Lucas electrical parts. Never seen problems with them. Detroit Fergusons had Delco Remy electrics. No problems.

Vhy is there an carburettor on the cat sixty you cal a diesel?
It appears to be a gas 60.
@@oldguy3251 I have never seen a diesel 60
I stand corrected. Cat made the Diesel 60 in late 1931. It was an upgraded version of the original 60.
Thanks for using my video without asking… not to mention that you are just using AI generated garbage for a script.
Thank you
Absolutely garbage
What do you mean, the video or the tractors in the video?
Something wrong here? This was 5 successful traktors!!
The successful tractors caused the most total trouble, just because there were more of them?
No use watching this to the end. So much bullshit I can smell it!😂
I have plowed many acres with a Model D. It runs on Kerosene which was very cheap so fuel cost were not much of a concern.
pure fiction. The author has proven his ignorance of which he speaks and his willingness to fabricate any untruth from whole closh of untruths

J D was not a fuel hog ,you got your info from your brother inlaw from the nut house.
