      The “cup” used for measuring rice is different from the standard US/UK measuring cup. It’s a Japanese thing. You can google for more information but the long and short of it is - yes, “rice cups” are more like 3/4 of a standard measuring cup.

    Another dish that has piqued my interest! The "yam" looks like what we call a batata here in the U.S. It's a sweet potato of sorts, but not a yam. Is your yam called anything else? What does the outside look like? The batata is medium brown skinned. The only thing else I am familiar with that looks like your yam would be taro. I can't wait to make this as soon as I'm sure to get the correct ingredients here.🙂

    Hi Roland, thanks for the recipe and video. I tried this today, the rice turned out to be sticky and mushy. I have poured in 2 cups of water as per your video. Not sure if its because of too much yam. I didn't really measure the amount of yam though. When I open up the rice cooker, aesthetically it didn't look sticky but when I stir it it become sticky. The more I stir the stickier it become. Any tips to correct it?
    Thanks Roland! :)

    • @spicenpans
      @spicenpans  4 роки тому +1

      2 possibilities on why the rice are sticky. First is the water to rice ratio, 1:1 will be what I like. 2nd is that the yam are not fried enough this still giving out that stickiness. It could be a combination of both. To help the rice to be drier, I would suggest that you spread the rice out, leave it to cool and fry it over Low heat for 10 mins or so until the level of which you like your rice to be.

    Roland, thanks so much for sharing this lovely recipe. Question #1: May i know "how many minutes" is associated with the "Rice" function in your pressure cooker. Question #2: If i use brown rice instead of white rice, how many minutes should be used for pressure cooking? Appreciate your advice, thanks .....Karen
