Make sure you also season your chicken under the skin. That way, the flesh also gets flavor. I usually make a compound butter( just softend butters and seasoning or flavor) and rub that on the skin and flesh. Also, i season inside the cavity. Add garlic/lemon. Whatever you want. That's my little tip.
Great suggestion on the butter. I would stuff butter in between the skin and meat. I have a small suggestion: Tie the aromatics together with the spring onion and stuff it into the cavity.
@@tina_yong i always wait for your cooking videos. They're so fun and silly. I've been going through a very hard time. And when u said if you're having a bad day this will make u smile was all i needed to hear nd see 😢
My Japanese/Taiwanese mom rinses her rice TEN TIMES 😫 She lives with me and the last time I made rice I lost count of how many times I rinsed it and thought “eh, she won’t noticed”…she did indeed notice and I’m not allowed to make rice anymore 😅
@@t-t-t-t-s I use basmati rice, and only rinse it 2-3 times, but it is never sticky. I will try 10 times (forgive me, @aspiringcat's Japanese/Taiwanese mom!) just to see if my uneducated Caucasian taste buds can notice any difference. I hope I do!😲
@mozempire5096 I was taught to wash till the water(cold water) in the bowl of rice is clear, this tends to take 5+ washes (haven't counted how many) - I have found there to be a big difference when I havent washed till clear (sometimes the grains aren't separated and stick together but never become super mush) but it also depends on how many cups of water you use to boil your rice.
I love how you comment on the salt/seasoning level each time, so important! For seasoning meats, I typically do 1 tsp of salt per pound of meat, works very well!
right!! i once attempted to make xiao long bao with almost ten times the correct amount of gelatin (in my defense i donot understand ounces at all and was trying to convert it to grams)
Before reducing the stock for the chicken, take out shallots and garlic, and blend them, then return them to the pot add a small dash of red wine and then reduce. You end up with thicker and tastier sauce.
Oooh the chicken in the rice cooker gives me the idea of making hainanese chicken at home. I always rinse the rice 3 times and then use it to water my plants. And yes, definitely need a video of Alfred doing the cooking. And cheese and garlic always makes things tastes better.
Same, until my younger sister told me to not wash it too much after watching me wash it at least 7 or more times. She told me that the rice will lose flavor from too much rinsing
The tomato rice 🍚 I do a Mexican one with taco seasoning and also u pre cook the mince, onions and garlic on the stove top with also taco seasoning then when it’s ready u add cheese and serve with sour cream….its so good (veggies I used was capsicums of any colours, black beans and corn)
If you use black bean, it has to be cooked black beans because or else the cooking time would have to be longer because it takes longer for raw back beans to cook and for the rice to cook if the rice is just white rice and not brown rice
I loved the rice trick! For me, I buy the huge bag that has frozen peas, corn, & carrots (I think that’s all it has in it? 🤷🏻♀️😂) and the jar beef bouillon both from Costco. I make the stock and use that instead of water. Then I add the frozen veggies and mix it up, then cook it. Works so well and is pretty good when you’re bored of regular white or brown rice. Super easy!
I like to cook brown rice with raw bean of my choice. It could be mid pinto beans, black beans, Salvadoran red beans and then I add the spicy sauce from this Mediterranean restaurant that I got it’s like spicy and it also has some yogurt. Cucumber taste is so good. I put it in there and also use chicken broth from Costco mix with water fill it to the desire level. If I want to feel fancy, I can add other cut up squash or carrots. I like to add vegetables that are very hard to cook such as carrots and if I added it in and cook it with all these delicious flavors, it will make the carrot taste better.

Trick for the 1st dish. Absolutely add more spices and herbs, but also as you noted, less rice. Need more veggies to rice ratio! Much more tastier and nutrient dense! I think you can do this w/o a rice cooker if you don't have one. Anyone have any suggestions?
I have a pressure cooker, but not a rice cooker. The pressure cooker is made of stainless steel and that’s better for you than a rice cooker that has nonstick material on the inner pot.

Chinese five spice, onion, chili crisp oil, seafood with the sausage, fresh herbs after cooking, cilantro or Thai basil, fresh bean sprouts for crispy texture
Really love your tiktok recipes videos, yall were so candid and pretty sure yall had so much fun filming this because I was having fun watching and laughing to your content 😂❤️
This was SO fun to watch! It was also inspiring. I have never used my rice cooker for anything other than rice, porridge, and one time, a cake (it works!). But your curry pasta recipe looked so good, I went and purchased the Golden Curry cubes, and some oyster sauce - both having never graced my doorstep. Today's Adventure is to begin in a few hours. Wish me luck!
When i make lazy rice i cook the sausages with oyster sauce, soy sauce, fried shallots, mushroom, oyster sauce sesame oil, and garlic then pour the whole thing on top of the rice with the other stuff already there. Then mix it and finish it with green onion. Not as quick as the original but still fairly quick when im exhausted.
Yes, to Alfred's cooking, he says he can do better challenges excepted 100%. If i can find my rice cooker the last recipe I think i must try this.❤❤❤❤XXXXX
Random facts, but the second wash of rice water makes for the best soup base for some Korean soup dishes. It is also very good to use and water indoor plants with. Lol
Hi tina ,nice video 👍🇸🇬 Could you please do a video on rice cooker steam dishes for those lazy but want to fix a quick neal with rice cooker only . Healthy & yet affordable meals Look forward to it . Cheers ❤
That would be good, but one of the ladies at the chicken should have been seasoned with a little bit more salt, but I see what you mean. I think that the chicken with the gravy would have a lot of flavor to the somewhat bland rice and that is an excellent idea. I would’ve done the same if I cook that, but I didn’t and that’s only because I have a pressure cooker, but I got rid of my rice cooker I said, it’s time for your retirement
hi Tina, I live in the smallest country in the middle east called Bahrain and I highly recommend that you try making some of our national dishes. 1. Shrimp Machboos 2. Balaleeth it's so goooooood
Ive heard before that Alfred made the pizza dough when you made pizza for dinner, i thought he was a good cooker hahha I want to see him as the chef for an episode making his personal recipes hahaha 😂
I actually bought a Cuckoo rice cooker with a pressure cook option for when I want to cook quickly or different things like pasta in it (or anything else that could use the high pressure option). I've seen someone do pasta (just with water) in the high pressure multicook option for 15 minutes. The rice cooker should actually come with a recipe booklet where you can look up not only the cooking time and settings for different types of rice, but also when you want to e.g. do grains or pseudocereals like quinoa.
On the seasonings in the water mix well before adding into the rice cooker n taste the broth. Ginger n onion or green onions add to flavor. If u prefer to add seasonings into the pot then taste the liquid before u close the lid. I do add powder, soy sauce, oyster sauce n a little ketchup as an option. Instead of 3 cups, I’ll put a wee bit under 3 cups bec of the liquid seasonings. This is on the first recipe. I did appreciate the honest reaction to the rice.😝👍🏼🌻☮️🙏🏼
I'm not sure if Tina meant half of a cup of water (125ml) or one and a half cups of water (375ml)? Either way a cup of water in Imperial measurements (what Australia uses) is 250ml, *note that the US use different measurements to the standard Imperial.
So with the chicken, no need to add liquid?is it safe for the rice cooker to cook in dry like that?my rice cooker is the heat/keep warm up and down options only and if there's no liquid, it may burn and spoil the cooker (said my dad)
Add some sugar to the pasta it will cancel the sourness of the tomato- tomatoes needs to be cooked down quite a bit longer until they lose their acidity
I'd add soyez sauce to that whole chicken one just because it seems to be steamed and I like the crispy skin so if I have to do without that would at least give it that umami boost

What Tina taught me: if the food tastes bad add garlic powder or cheese
The whole chicken just need to be marinated longer so it sinks into the meat then it’ll taste a lot better.
