Friends of mine went on it, they said they didn’t sleep well and it was extremely expensive for Platinum but a once in a lifetime trip. They then joined a luxury adventure cruise from Darwin to Broome and saw some beautiful coastline. Thanks for the video

This trip is a bucket list item for me. You and your wife seem like such happy wholesome people - thank you for sharing your experience with those of us who can't experience it for themselves :)
I don't comment much but, Jeb thank you for making these videos. I can recall one very very early morning my girlfriend and I were laying on our couch watching your train videos just absolutely enamored at what we were seeing. We both come from the PNW and we talk about taking Amtrak or going on a train anywhere. I really envy what you and your wife get to do and I hope I can reach that point in my life with my partner where we get to travel and see sights we would never think too see. Unfortunately I had to move down south so I no longer am able to have that close feeling of being able to sit on the couch and binge your videos with her.... but whenever I do see an upload from you it reminds me of that truly great time I had with her that I will never forget, we both do really enjoy your videos. Its a very comforting thing to watch. She's planning on coming down to visit in late may and Im going to book a small commuter train for us so we can go visit the next city over. Your love for travel and trains is truly beautiful and I want to thank you for bringing that comfort and reminder of that time I shared with my lady. Much love and respect for you and your wife.
Stunning? Looks like the bush to me. As an Australian I can say we have some nice scenic locations but they are few and very far between. A better rail journey would be the one they did in Peru. Beautiful scenery along that whole journey.
@@joshchapman4753 I didn't say, that all of the views are stunning. I said, that there's some stunning views along the way. But that being said, you're right about the Peru rail journey they did.
@@contactluke80 I agree. I've done a lot of travelling throughout Aus for work, and it's depressing if you aren't in a good frame of mind going into it.
@@joshchapman4753 I've done that train in Peru, but even endless mountain scenery can get humdrum. and that's coming from someone who's also trekked in the Himalayas and hiked the Inca trail connected to that Peruvian train. I spent much of my life in the Australia outback, and sure, it can seem dull if you're driving endless stretches with next to no scenery, like the drive from Camooweal to Three Ways in the NT, but by and large there's so much variety in that wide landscape of ours that it has a beauty all its own.
Hi Jeb and Susan, not a bad room, the scenery beautiful, you are lucky to be able to do these trips, thanks for bringing us along, stay safe stay blessed
I rode the ghan last year, and something I feel like it really gave me was a huge sense of… community, I guess? Within the first day, everyone in the platinum class pretty much knew each other by name, and conversing at the meals as well as the events off the train is something that I would absolutely love to experience over and over again.
Been there, done that and always hoped that you would one day take this journey and share with the world. I thoroughly enjoyed reliving the memories. Thank you.
Glad you both had a great time. However, you still have one more bucket list train journey to experience here, the Indian Pacific, Sydney to Perth. Crossing the Nullarbor Plain is one amazing experience. Plus, if you're in Melbourne, look me up, glad to show you around.
The brakes on the bikes are that way (Front on RH side, Rear on LH side) to match motorcycles. All motorcycles have front brake on RH side and clutch lever on LH side. Scooter or mopeds with no gears replace that left lever with the rear brake. 😊
Yes, if anything us Americans have our bike brakes backwards. I know it had something to do with preventing falls when braking and using hand signals, but nobody has been regularly sticking their arm straight out into traffic for a long time now.
The Ghan (and The Indian Pacific) has been on our bucket list radar for a few years now. Was going to be a "birthday ending in zero' trip in 2021 but covid intervened. This was a great travelog Jeb, I got a good feel for the trip from watching you and Suzanne experience the 3 days. Being a kiwi, I appreciate how different the red centre is, to what I'm used to living everyday. You will have noticed the extreme difference too, having travelled both countries recently. Desolate, yet peaceful and at times, provoking. Thanks for doing what you and Suzanne do.
I’ve been on this train twice. Adelaide to Alice Springs 1986 (Coach Class!) and Sydney to Alice Springs 2001 (Silver Cabin Class at the time?). I’ve got one more third “bucket list” trip planned - to complete the trip now that the line is built - Alice Springs to Darwin. This time Platinum! It’s one of the most amazing train experiences….❤ Great video.
I lived in Katherine in the 90s /early 00s & the Gorge will always hold a special place in my heart. Midnite hikes, school camps, weekend canoeing, swimming. Every time someone visited we did the Gorge cruise. Fun fact, the crocodile movie 'Rogue' with Michael Vartan was filmed there.
I rode The Ghan in 2018 and was in a single cabin. I had to open the door to put on my shoes. I had to go down the corridor to use the toilet and take a shower. A few people in my group thought the rooms were claustrophobic, but I was very comfortable. Similar to your bed request, my purse left my bed made on day three so I could rest, read, and watch movies on my phone. Great food, great trip.
As always - great video Jeb and Suzanne...thanks for sharing the trip!! I love these detailed videos you and other travelers make of iconic train journeys...I hope I'll get to experience it myself someday...cheers!
I enjoy your content so much. Age and mobility constraints limit my travel opportunities now, so I truly appreciate seeing the trips that you two are making! Best wishes, and on to the next adventure! 😊
SO GLAD YOU GUYS POSTED AN HONEST AND TRANSPARENT VIEW POINT ON THE GHAN. I know it’s obviously not your intent at all but to see what you get for the price you pay the experience needs to be upgraded. Australia is such an amazing country and to travel for such a long time and not have more stops into beautiful destinations ( as in presentation when you get off the train) and have more activities, cultural interaction and more memorable entertainment/experiences. Definitely travel to far North Queensland and see the rainforest, coral reefs and Uluṟu. Now these are experiences you definitely will enjoy.
It’s a fabulous journey when we did Platinum 11 years ago the lounge and dining was combined with the gold service. The Indian Pacific is another great trip.
The cabin accomodation and food looked outstanding , very inviting , however , they say beauty is in the eyes of the beholder , and perhaps I’m different , but that Aussie outback scenery is not the idea of beauty in my eyes . Great video Jeb , I really enjoyed it . Happy and safe travels .
It is actually very nice, it doesn't look overly impressive on camera but in person the flowers and trees are very unique. It's totally different to anywhere else in the world
@@chrispekel5709 . You are right , Australia is very unique , beautiful in many ways , it’s just that I don’t find the Aussie scrub at all attractive , and I’ve seen it many times having lived here for over 35 yrs now . Just my opinion of course . My best wishes .
As an Aussie I agree. I have driven across Australia and up North. Gets a bit old. I couldn't do this train trip. I would be bored out of my mind. But we all have different interests. Jeb you must be the luckiest bloke alive having such a wonderful and beautiful wife and travel partner. I've seen so many of your travel videos and you 2 look so good together. I live in Australia myself and always wanted to do one of these long rail journeys. It would be even nicer if I could find someone as nice as Suzanne to do it with. I'm so looking forward to seeing your next adventure.
Friends of mine went on it, they said they didn’t sleep well and it was extremely expensive for Platinum but a once in a lifetime trip. They then joined a luxury adventure cruise from Darwin to Broome and saw some beautiful coastline. Thanks for the video
Love those beautiful clear Australian skies in the outback ... fantastic colours and the sunsets and stars! Has to be seen to be believed.
I mean the scenery as you past through our majestic outback is as unspectacular as scenery gets unless u enjoy staring out at mirages in barren landscapes lol... The best part is the night sky you can see the entire milky way wouldn't be many places on earth where it is clearer
As a Canadian, I love Australia I took a flying trip around the country, Tasmania and New Zealand This video was very interesting by train
Ah. I watched a show about this train few weeks ago. Absolutely stunning views along the way!
Australia is stunning country.
Vast nothingness is interesting for 30 seconds - after 56 hours I would want to top myself
Very engaging video .. masterfully filmed, edited and narrated. 👍👍👌👌
Wow! Thank you so very much!!
Hi Jeb and Susan, not a bad room, the scenery beautiful, you are lucky to be able to do these trips, thanks for bringing us along, stay safe stay blessed
So lucky! It was an incredible trip
Great video. I'm enjoying watching this. Looks like a wonderful trip. Be safe. ❤ Thank you for sharing with us.
That was so good to watch and it was even better fun catching with you guys in (convict free) Adelaide!
Thanks for being such a great host. We loved exploring the Adelaide Hills with you guys!
not sure if anyone elses has noticed but Jeb has one hell of a watch collection!
JEB IS OFFICIALLY A SELF-PROCLAIMED FOAMER!!!
Great video, the Ghan looks just incredible!
We’ve arrived. Miles commented!!
@@GreenerGrass when is the crossover we've been waiting for??
I rode the ghan last year, and something I feel like it really gave me was a huge sense of… community, I guess? Within the first day, everyone in the platinum class pretty much knew each other by name, and conversing at the meals as well as the events off the train is something that I would absolutely love to experience over and over again.
What an experience. Even the lay out of the beds in the cabin looked super cool!
Been there, done that and always hoped that you would one day take this journey and share with the world. I thoroughly enjoyed reliving the memories. Thank you.
As a train enthusiast myself I love these videos! You two have a great style, really enjoy your videos, look forward to more! Thanks, keep it up!
Glad you both had a great time. However, you still have one more bucket list train journey to experience here, the Indian Pacific, Sydney to Perth.
Crossing the Nullarbor Plain is one amazing experience.
Plus, if you're in Melbourne, look me up, glad to show you around.
Glad you enjoyed your journey in our great land.
It's a great country, my favourite place.
It's so refreshing that you share the negative as well as the positive. It makes me much more interested in watching.
Fabulous and historic memorable .Thanks for taking me along . I did this long ago . Spectacular ..
.
You guys are the Darcy and Lizzy of travel. Dream trip! How exciting!!
I originally subbed for a plane video but the more I see your train videos I get more and more interested in that too! Great stuff
I enjoy your content so much
I appreciate that! Thank you!!
Watching this made me appreciate the diversity of Terry around the world. Australia is amazing.
Took the Ghan from Adelaide to Darwin in December 2018 and absolutely loved it!
I enjoy your content so much. Age and mobility constraints limit my travel opportunities now, so I truly appreciate seeing the trips that you two are making! Best wishes, and on to the next adventure! 😊
Me too..I'm also in the same situation. I also have the same surname as you.
Peace is not something you wish for. It's something you make, something you do, something you are, and something you give away.
But then I have driven up North to a really remote location where you took a satellite phone and beacon it was that remote. For a female it was a bit scardy if I'm honest.
I agree. For me a good landscape is lush green rolling hills with mountains in the background or a nice coastline or all 3.
Superbly well done video with plenty of interesting information. Great to watch. It has given me the appetite to take my wife (and myself) onto this train when in Australia next year.
I am a fan of your American train videos, but this one is really good as well! You both are very easy to listen to. Keep up the awesome work!
Absolutely loved this video. What a fantastic experience for you both! As always thanks for sharing!
You two are couples goals.
I did this when I was 7!! It was amazing. Adelaide is so pretty as well. I remember it all vividly! Good times.
A new video from Jeb is always a highlight of the weekend, regardless of the mode of travel!
I love riding trains. When I lived in Tokyo I rode them often. I hope to experience this trip as well some day
I really enjoy watching you guys. I particularly like the way you offer polite criticism but are humble and always see the best in each situation. Your positivity and enthusiasm is infectious. Well done.
Appreciate your comment, we never forget how lucky we are! But definitely want to bring our honest observations as well. The trip was incredible!
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐. The whole trip was picturesque. From the landscape to the train itself. Thank you for sharing 🙂 👍🏾. I can't wait to see your next train adventure.
Always enjoy your videos! I especially love your train videos with all the unique destinations. Amazing views of the outback. Accommodations looked top notch! Well done!
The Gorge was so pretty..wow. nice 😊😮❤
This looks like the most lavish train I've ever seen! Literally like a hotel room!
Lol, someone hasn't seen enough
From an Aussie. This is awesome, always want to do it. Great vid thanks 🇦🇺🦘
You 2 are made for each other, the same sorta humor and a great dynamic in your relationship! For feedback, give a also a jebscore on trains (Seat/bed, Lounge in the train, Food, overall entertainment, Service, Bathroom (30 stars in total)) so its more suitable for trains. I am following your channel for quite some time now and the channel deserves more than a million subs for the quality of the vids! Keep it up!!
Welcome to Australia jeb and Suzanne, hope your travels are good on the train trip, also the Indian pacific is a fantastic trip , safe travels, cheers
My biggest hesitation from long train rides is the lack of opportunities to get exercise/move about. At least there were some opportunities on this one.
It was a lot of time on the train the first day, but we really loved the opportunities to get off the train and explore the following days!
Lovely video and thank you. My sister and I grew up in Central Australia, on a settlement (Papunya) and did many trips on the Ghan as kids in the 70s. I understand she even took her first steps on one of those trips. You have a lovely manner and thank you for all the effort you've put into making such a great video and sharing it with us. Regards from Sydney - David
From a viewer POV, this is so entertaining to watch, this is definitely going on my bucket list in my life, such a great video Jed, keep it up, love this content!
I'll never be able to even go to AUS much less ride that train so I will just enjoy the travel videos.
Yeah, that’s exactly what I do!
Beautiful Australia by train! Great trip but not enough kangaroos!❤️😀🦘
Definitely going on my bucket list! You guys seriously need to come up to Canada for a Transcontinental ride on "The Canadian!"
Looks like they took your suggestion. I just watched their The Canadian video!
Out of my price bracket but luckily there is other trains that are here in Australia. Mind you after seeing your video even if I had the money I think there are much better train trips, this looked nuts for the people on it.
Love how you mix things up with the train journeys! Its so cool to go on the entire journey with you, love the aviation trip reports but the activities on route on the train was so cool to see
Thank You for the Educational Videos. I am unable to travel but I get to see it from you & Suzanne. You both are Awesome.
Wow, what an incredible adventure! Your video transported me to all of these amazing places and gave me a taste of the local culture. I loved the stunning scenery, vibrant colors, and lively music you included throughout the video. It's clear that you put a lot of thought and effort into capturing the essence of each destination. Thank you for sharing your journey with us. It's left me feeling inspired and eager to start planning my own travels.
Thank you for coming along!
Good video, lots of scenery, big smiles, wife came with, and no jeb score.
Favorite picture was at 6:55.
The Australian outback is basically nothing. But it _is_ more nothing than you've ever seen in your life.
This is going on my travel bucket list. What an amazing journey.
Absolutely recommend it!
