I "treated" my depression with fishkeeping 30+ years ago, after a nasty car accident that ended my career. in 2009, I abruptly gave up my tanks when my husband had a major medical emergency that resulted in us dropping everything to "move" in with his mother. 2 years later, massive depression after husband's death, and moving to a new home. I'm now watching Cory, Dean, Lucas, John & Teresa, Tanner, and Rachel, every day! I'm getting ready to start working on multiple tanks, and even try "tubbing"- before it's too late in the season. My kids are going to go crazy & fall in love with fish, all over again!! Thank heaven the first video of Cory & Aquarium Co-op floated by on YT! Dean is the Professor of Fish Husbandry!
Dean makes me happy. Hes been in the hobby longer then I've been alive and he STILL gets excited about it. Like giddy excited about stuff. It's awesome to see and he is way more comfortable on camera now. Lucky for us as it means more knowledge for us!
Wow! Mind blown with the taping of the corners! This is helpful, because bagging is not one of my strengths. I’m actually sending Dean some special fish that he wants this week, so I’ll try this method!
Yes, I'm terrible at bagging fish as well... Y'all should do a "how to bag fish properly" video...! It always takes me a few attempts to get it done, not good, but acceptable...! Thanks buddy and glad you're an Aquarium Co-op full timer nowadays...! Keep up your awesomeness and go enjoy some nature today...!
I don’t even practice the aquarium hobby and I just enjoy listening to Dean talk about it. There’s something to be said about listening to someone discuss a topic they love and are knowledgeable about
One of the things that makes watching you guys so great.. is the care and the knowledge you all share.. you have raised the bar with your ethics that you bring to the aquarium hobby!! Much love and respect! I hope y'all have a great day and thanks for sharing!
This was/is a good time in the hobby.Watching great friends Dean & Cory, sharing some of the tips and tricks it's like heaven for us in my opinion. Much
Ah... i love dean. Really an inspiration in the hobby for the "little" he claims he does. I personally think he does so much for the hobby just by doing his thing.
I've got some of those rams. They are amazing fish. They are the most pretty fish I've ever seen in my life. Everyone who comes to the house loves looking at them.
Just when I was thinking this was a pointless video for me to watch, as I’ll probably never get to buy these fish, dean shows me a tip that would’ve saved me some money when a customer of mine had a guppy die from the corner of the bag. Any video with Dean is worth watching.
Went to your store yesterday and got a 3 gallon tank. Now I need to go back for a betta and probably some cherry shrimp. Caitlin was a great help. Saw Dean’s angel fish and they are much better in person. Wish I had more space for them. I would love to bring some home.
Love deans wealth of knowledge on so many different aspects of the hobby.. I would love to see him try a 75 gallon salt setup. I bet he would do great. Maybe try and breed some wild caught clown fish
They all look incredible, but the guppies and Rams are amazing. And I absolutely and completely geeked out at Dean's method for making square bottomed bags!!! So simple and yet so effective. I can't wait to try making them with the smaller bags I literally just ordered for myself.
In Germany we only got Fisch bagasee with round bottom, but at the Moment we are switshing to lockable buckets. Because they are Hard in Material so Never water Leaks and you can reuse them very Long Time periods. Also it Garanties that the Fisch get enough air
Dean is just a legend, keep up the good work. I know how you feel Deano, my 200 and 400 litre Angelfish grow out tanks are overflowing, minimum of 1000 fish, the size of a 50 cent piece.. My local shop can't sell them quick enough.. More culling needed.
I've had these guppies when I was an aquarium enthusiast.. they add so much vibrancy to the tank.. We call them Cobra Guppies or Candy Guppies in India. 10 years back, they costed just a RS 50/ pc ( a dollar or two per piece)
It's interesting seeing the differences between countries. I couldn't legally put a live fish in either of the bags, have to have a rounded bottom in Sweden. The taped bottoms is how almost all hobby sold fish were transported for a while until the supply of old bags ran out. I've also heard tales of people selling in freezer bags with taped corners, but I haven't seen that in person.
I'm going to start taping the bottom of the bags at the fish store myself when I buy them. I end up putting the bag on its side on the way home to try to prevent a fish from getting stuck in the corners.
I wish you guys were local to me. I'd love a few of those Vienna guppies, lol. There are a VERY small handful of privately ran and very good aquarium stores in my area (which is to say within about an hour or so drive). I went into one and they didn't have what I was looking for so they took my information down and said they'd try to track it down for me for no extra money than if it was for sale normally (Assuming that one of their regular sources and toss it in on an order). And I thought that was very cool of them to do. That was my first taste of that level of customer service since i'm more accustomed going to the big box stores. I know they work with local breeders as well. I'm not into the hobby deep enough yet to be in the know of what's happening in the area but I hope to get there some day and get to meet breeders like Dean.
Dean is just an OG Badass!! Thanks for sharing tips n tricks Dean, sorry I don't live near the Co-Op, the midnight Rams would be gone 2 mins after store opens...
I do not tape the bottom of bags. I put a rubber band around one corner, stretch it, and then put it around the other bag corner. The corners are rubberbanded together achieving the same effect.
Guess it's because nature isn't doing to well, so both funny and sad. I'm from Denmark, it is more or less just buildings, roads, and fields. It looks pretty, but it's an environmental disaster. That's just sad.
If Dean has too many baby fish, he should consider shipping them himself or teaming up with a shipping service. I'd love some of his fish. So sad to imagine them going down the drain :(
If you are a breeder like me, you can not sell unperect fish.. Culling is a must, if you can't handle that, don't breed or sell fish. Two thumbs-up Deano....
I got two midnight blues and two electric blues from a breeder I was introduced to. She charged me $18 a fish, and $40 for two day shipping. The midnight ones have a bit of attitude towards other fish, but they sure are friendly. Stand by the tank and they'll gladly come see you.
I enjoy seeing the unboxings but if you are really concerned about people getting upset because the fish they saw isn't available, doesn't it make more sense to not show unboxings or to wait a few days after the unboxing to show the video (and maybe you do that)? Your customers who come in on a regular basis will see what's in store and it encourages people to come in regularly. Besides, it is a wonderful treat for customers to come into a store and see some great fish they totally hadn't planned on getting but do because the fish are such good examples of the species.
*Did you miss our most recent tour of Dean's fish room? Check it out: **ua-cam.com/video/vR2pcFPleUA/v-deo.html*
Cory! Any chance Master breeder Dean and yourself do a live stream topic or Q&A together? I think it would go over very very well🤞👍👏
Love your content! Keep it up! My favorite episodes are these unboxings
Wow. Love those guppies. I live in Miami FL, so that's one super long drive 😢
Worth it to pick up 500 of 'em
😁
Dean is always fun to watch... He needs a regular segment on Aquarium Co-op... "Tips and Tricks with master breeder Dean"
Those guppies are amazing...
I think he has his own channel, Deansfishroom right here on YT.
It seems like he is in every video
I want that segment so badly

Dean is awesome!!!! He’s so diligent and caring for the fish!
I love Dean. In one video he said "Oh this waters cold- oh well I guess its 80 degrees" That's me every time I put my hand in a tank. haha.

Great fish Dean. I also love that idea about making the 'fish safe' bag.
Thanks for the TED talk Dean!
Very fish safe bagging and it's unique 😊👍
Videos with Dean are the best :D
Oh man... The Vienna guppies. Am I going to have to make the road trip from IA?! Lol love short fin guppies
Thanks for the bag tip. Thus extra time at home made me redecorate my two aquariums down from three. Thinking of getting a third one back.

DEAN! Love Dean. More Dean!
Those Midnight Rams are amazing.. I haven't seen any locally. I'll be looking every time I go to the fish store now!
Dean is seriously so helpful and informative. Godbless you guys!
Am I the only one seeing a rockstar? Tenacious Dean 😎 joking aside, very inspirational!
Once I settled in back to work, I'm going to get started on my first aquarium. Really appreciate the videos!
Dean is super fun to watch
Oh my, Dean with longer hair looks a lot older than Dean with shorter hair. Quality music choice for the intro!
Need a Dean Master Class!
Always interesting listening to Dean.
dean's knowledge is truly inspiring.
I'm going to start taping the bottom of the bags at the fish store myself when I buy them. I end up putting the bag on its side on the way home to try to prevent a fish from getting stuck in the corners.
Neat trick with the packing tape corners on the bags
