  • I woodturned this captive ring rattle for my future nephew/niece. This was a pretty fun lathe project and I can't wait to give it to the new little person in May! Congrats Connor and Haily! My tools:
    Starbond Glue: bit.ly/2RFrayA
    Resin: amzn.to/2nUhFPg
    Finishing Oil: amzn.to/2oAFPP6
    Center Finder: amzn.to/2ld06Ju
    Lathe: amzn.to/2qG2wD5
    Carbide Chisels: amzn.to/2NUiEdq
    Nova Chuck: amzn.to/32tJvkm
    Face Shield: amzn.to/2Ac4Cvj
    Respirator: amzn.to/2N7mxfm
    Miter Saw: amzn.to/2ZpjuBW
    Drill: amzn.to/2XtnW0G
    Square: amzn.to/2VaCNzW
    Clamps: amzn.to/2UvPSiZ
*if you shop through these links I may receive a small commission. The price is the same for you, but it helps support me as a beginner woodturner in my quest to get a bigger lather to make bigger projects, and I really appreciate it!

This rattle probably ended up a bit too big. I tried using a baby for scale, but it kept crawling away...

Wish I'd had one like that when I was a baby. Your new little person will love it. I don't think its too big. It can be rolled along the floor as well as shaken and babies just naturally get bigger. Have yourself a great New Year's Eve and thank you for sharing.

I made one as a gift to go along with a cradle I was commissioned to make. Also in walnut, baby sized, single ended, drilled out center of bulb placed a few dried beans inside then plugged hole. They loved it! wish youtube allowed pics LOL

I just became a grandfather and I would love one of those for my daughters new baby. Do you sell them.?
Your videos are great and you make some really interesting things. I turned a handle with a knob the other day on my baby Jet lathe.

Looks like something I hide between my door and seat. Use it to beat someone over the head with.

Thanks Drew! This one was just mineral oil, since I assume the kid will end up putting its mouth all over it haha

    我跟你一样从事着木工的行业,一直关注着你的发展,但由于各种原因一直没有开始起步。你更新的很迅速,发展的也很迅速,值得我学习的太多,愿前进的路上与你同行,之后的道路愿多多指导。

It's kind of big for a rattler. I don't think it's to heavy. Babies put things in their mouths. Not sure if that polish is food safe.
I like your work. Maybe you could use a dark wood stain on a project.
