I'm astonished. I want to meet him. He brought the human, natural, literary n nature sides of the epic. First time after almost 36 yrs I's bound for the entire length of the session the first was the "solitary reaper" by my english teacher n then this. I stumble upon this after reading his new volume release which's I see available only in Malayalam. Brilliant

It's a very linear analysis. He can't accept any other view other than the crude one.
And his explanation of Duryodhana is completely idiotic. Duryodhana is the biggest cheat in Mahabharata. He poisoned Bhima , he tried to burn Pandavas, and their mother, while they were sleeping, he humiliated Draupathy and on top of all that he was a bad King.
Krishna simply used Duryodhanas tactics on himself. "Where did your dharmabhodha(righteousness) go when Abhimanyu was killed unjustly" Krishna asked Karna while he was being killed unjustly.
Illayidam's agenda is clear even though his explanation seems on point. He do not want to accept the spiritual aspect of Mahabharata and he wants to lower it's importance by claiming (without any evidence) that Mahabharata was compiled during a very long period by many individuals.
I don't think this kind of crude explanation does the subtle aspects of Mahabharata justice. But the subtler aspects of Mahabharata are harder to find, so I excuse him for that.

@@neeraj6275 Sense is the problem with Illayidam too. He tries to paint Duryodhana as some sort of hero when because he wanted to fight Bheema at the end of the Mahabharata war, which is hilarious, I meant using that fact to claim Duryodhana is a hero, because Duryodhana's body has become indestructible because of a blessing or boon from his mother Gandhari.
I would also challenge great fighters like Jone Jones if I had insane power and an indestructible body. But that doesn't make me courageous. When someone tries to poison you(in your sleep) because they can't beat you in a fair fight, that shows cowardice.
@@neeraj6275 Oh yeah. It's not personal opinion, he has a clear agenda. It's more like an Ideologically motivated execution of a plan! It's pretty obvious to anyone with common sense and basic knowledge of Mahabharata.

It's always enlightening to listen sunil p ilayidom speeches, the reaserch he might have some,quite amazing,but there's on suggestion,1,the onv poetry,sarayoovilekku, android Madhusudan Nair poem Agastyahridayam,and even bharatheeyam should have been given some mention,and speech on Bhagavad Gita, I felt bit incoplete,these are only my suggestions

And Mahabharata is read differently because Mahabharata says it can be read from different perspectives, but it also says that if your sole intention is looking at historical, societal, scientific etc.. aspects of it you'll miss the spiritual aspect of it. And that if you were not able to understand God that is the biggest loss.

2nd read--ഗീതയിലെ 'മാധ്യമ മാർഗം'.............. അനുഭവിചിട്ടില്ലാത്തവർ അതിനെ വിശദീകരിക്കുമ്പോൾ ഏറെ തെറ്റിദ്ധരിപ്പിക്കുന്നു.'ഗീത യുദ്ധം ചെയ്യാൻ പ്രേരിപ്പിക്കുന്നു' എന്നൊക്കെ വാദിക്കും.പക്ഷെ ഇതിനെ വ്യക്തമായി അനുഭവിക്കാൻ കഴിഞ്ഞാൽ മനോഹരമാണ്.യുദ്ധം ഒഴിവാക്കാൻ ഏറ്റവും ശ്രമിച്ചവനാണ് കൃഷ്ണൻ .അവസാനവട്ട ചർച്ചയിലും അദ്ദേഹം അതിനു ശ്രമിച്ചു. എങ്കിലും ദുര്യോധനൻ പറഞ്ഞു "പാണ്ടവർക്ക് സൂചികുത്താൻ പോലും സ്ഥലം നൽകില്ല ".യുദ്ധം ,അത് അനിവാര്യമെന്ന് വന്നു. പ്രപഞ്ച ശക്തി യുദ്ധം ചെയ്യാൻ ആവശ്യപ്പെടുന്നു എന്ന് കൃഷ്ണൻ തിരിച്ചറിഞ്ഞു.അവിടെ കൃഷ്ണന് പ്രപഞ്ച വ്യക്തിത്വം മാത്രമേ ഉള്ളു.പ്രപഞ്ചത്തിന്റെ തീരുമാനമാ ണ് അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ തീരുമാനം.അസ്തിത്വവും അദ്ദേഹവും രണ്ടല്ല. അസ്തിത്വത്തിനും അദ്ദെഹത്തിനുമിടയിൽ ഒരു "കൃഷ്ണൻ" എന്ന് മുഴച്ചു നില്ക്കുന്ന, "ഞാൻ' യുദ്ധത്തെ, 'അനുകൂലിക്കില്ല" എന്ന കടുംപിടുത്തമുള്ള ഒരു ഈഗോ ,വ്യക്തിത്വം ഇല്ല.ആ കൃഷ്ണൻ എന്ന വ്യക്തിത്വം ആദ്യം ശ്രമിച്ചിരുന്നു.പക്ഷെ അയാളുടെ ഉള്ളിലെ ബോധമാകുന്ന ,പ്രപഞ്ച വ്യക്തിത്വത്തിന്റെതായിരിക്കും അന്തിമ തീരുമാനം.അയാൾ ഒരിക്കലും തന്റെ സ്വന്തം വ്യക്തിത്വത്തെ മാനിച്ചി രുന്നില്ല.അതുകൊണ്ടാണ യാൾക്ക് 'വിഗ്രഹത്തെയല്ല മന്ധരപർവതത്തെയാണ് നാം ആരാധിക്കേണ്ടത്' എന്ന് പറഞ്ഞത്, സുഭദ്രാഹരണം നടത്തിയത്,സ്വന്തം അമ്മാവനെയും മറ്റ് എതിരാളികളെയും കൊന്നത്,യുദ്ധത്തിൽ ആയുധമെടുക്കില്ലെന്നു ശപഥം ചെയ്തിട്ടും അഭിമന്യുവിനെ ചതിയിലൂടെ ക്രൂരമായി കൊന്നപ്പോൾ തെർത്തട്ടിൽനിന്നും തെർചക്ര മെടുത്ത് അടിക്കാൻ ഇറങ്ങിയത്,ദ്രോണരെ കൊല്ലാൻ "അശ്വധാമ ഹത " എന്ന് കള്ളം പറഞ്ഞത്.തെറ്റി ധരിക്കരുത്.അവൻ അപ്പോഴൊക്കെ പാലിച്ചത് പ്രപഞ്ചത്തിന്റെ,സൃഷ്ടാവിന്റെ തീരുമാനങ്ങളയിരുന്നു .ആ തീരുമാനങ്ങൾ നമ്മുടെ നിയമങ്ങളോ നീതിയോ മൂല്യങ്ങളോ ആയിരിക്കില്ല.നമ്മുടെ കണ്ണിൽ അവയിൽ പലതും തെറ്റായി തോന്നാം.ഉദാ: നിങ്ങള്ക്ക് ഇപ്പോഴത്തെ "ഹോർമോണ് സ്പെഷ്യൽ ചിക്കൻ" കഴിച്ചു ക്യാൻസർ വന്നാൽ ആ കോഴിയെ വിറ്റയാളിനെന്തുകൊണ്ട് പാപം അല്ലെങ്കിൽ നാശം വരുന്നില്ല എന്ന് തോന്നാം.ദെയിവം(കൃഷ്ണൻ ) എന്തിനു ഒരുതെറ്റും ചെയ്യാത്ത നിങ്ങളെ ശിക്ഷിച്ചു? പക്ഷെ അറിയുക,ദെയിവത്തിനു ലോകത്തിൽ കോഴിക്കും നിങ്ങൾക്കും പ്രാധാന്യം തുല്യമാണ്.നിങ്ങൾ ഒരാളെ കൊന്നാൽ രക്ഷപെടുന്നത് ലക്ഷക്കണക്കിന് കോഴികളാണ്.ബോധവാൻ മുൻകൂട്ടി ആ സുഖത്തിലെ ബന്ധനം കാണുന്നു.അതില്നിന്നും ഒഴിവാകുന്നു.പക്ഷെ നാം ബോധാവാനാകാതെ ഒരിക്കലും ഈ കർമ്മ ബന്ധങ്ങളുടെ നിയമങ്ങൾ നമുക്കറിയാൻ കഴിയില്ല.
