- Опубліковано 5 гру 2022
- In the first episode I got the Mondeo home after it had sat in a garden for 7 years, and started to look at what I was dealing with. Now Ive been inside and started cleaning the cabin, and will it start?

Matt honestly you found a new chapter for your channel . We need more classic quick flips episodes
Absolutely, loving this.
@@KrisDouglas Yup me also

Yip, gonna be plenty looking for a new home after the ULEZ is expanded. I'm looking and was fortunate enough to have one come up, so 🤞 the deal works out in New Year for me.
"Not just trying to get a contract off Matt Hancock" Absolute Classic!!
If this sort of thing works out for you; getting a heap and fixing it for a max of a week or 2 could be a great recurring series for the channel going forward.
Folks like watching older off the road car revivals because it is something that a lot of folks can do unlike driving or owning a $100,000 super car. There is something satisfying about bringing an older car, clock, watch , appliance back to life.
Everyone loves an old Mondeo. Keep smashing out the content. More old fords.
Am I commenting to early? Usually do. Use a pair of mole grips on the boot gas struts to stop the boot falling on your head.. Obv might damage them, but they’re broken anyways 😂 I do love an old Mondeo. Pleased you’re helping it live again
forgotten that trick, not used it in ages!
There's a fuel filter under the drivers side just before the back wheel would be worth checking in case it's blocked by old sludge fuel ,it's sealed unit about £10
100.000 subs on the way ,this is a hubnut beater !!! Great content👍👍👍👍👍👍🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
Awesome series, love seeing quick and dirty "restos" of cheap cars!
Im really liking this series, Very satisfying to see an abandoned car being resurrected
Arriva had a lot to do with a company called Cowies, who used to have bodyshops etc, which were used to repair cars when buses whacked them!
Arriva rental fleets were closed down gradually, finishing up with their Arriva Bus & Coach Business most recently.
This is definitely my favourite series so far. I really enjoy the garage aspect of your channel. Looking forward to see how the Mondeo turns out.
Definitely do this all the time now , ignore people that want you to have roadworthy minis
Maybe the drivers door speaker not working is a clue to why central locking isn't working from drivers door?
could be wiring loom related couldnt it
Now with the cleaning it is the lesser Mouldeo
This reminds me of my boyhood, endless hours spent watching my dad get our Cortina MkIII through it's MOT + 2 new wings sprayed Electric Blue with rattle cans.
Mondeo LX was Sunroof OR Aircon.
GLX had both
I always liked this shape of Mondeo, it'd be nice to own one one day, but they're getting rare now!
Grab one before they prices go mad. Great car.
@@lordbungle6235 mad allready ent they i was lucky to grab 3 0f them for scrap prices back in 2008 made a good 1 out of 3 and ran it intill 2014
@@kurtseyffert6649 I got a MK1 2.0si 4 door with RS body kit in 2011 for £510. Full MOT. I still have it. And a MK1 4x4 Ghia Estate in 2015 again full MOT. That one cost me £350. Both worth a lot more these days even as scrap/parts cars.
Loving the content lately Matt, you more than deserve 100k subs. No doubt you'll get there!
I just found this channel and subbed!
I’m loving the Moul-deo.
Really does have the making of a genuinely good car Matt.
I'd save it for the Festival of the Unexceptional, nice set alloys would refresh the outside right up.
I think we have found a new path for the channel more of this please & thank you 😊
This brilliant I loved my 90s mondao
It's a good survivor. My parents well used 03 plate 150,000 mile Mk3 1.8LX went to meet it's maker a year or so back. Scotland having its usual effect on the underside.
I used to have a Ford Mondeo 2.0Si mk2 saloon in Panther Black. I remember you can use the remote key to unlock the driver's door&the other 3 will remain locked.
As others have said, this type of project works on your channel. Without blowing smoke up your exhaust, you are a very decent amateur mechanic, so you can get these old cars running without a fully kitted out workshop or an Ed China type "helping out".
Also, who doesn't like a Mondeo? Pronounced "Mon-day-oh" of course but a woman I once knew pronounced it "Mon-dee-oh" which for some reason stuck in my mind. So here's to the Mon-dee-oh getting back on the road! 😁
Found part 1 on my youtube homepage. Subscribed now and was happy to find a part 2. Can't wait for the next video! Love the mondeo. My childhood. Its also just so therapeutic and relaxing to watch and see the progress in such a short time. 😁
Love seeing cars like that getting a new lease of life. Makes me realise how rare Mk1 & Mk2 Mondeos have become
I hate to be one of those ....but might I suggest a cordless drill with a brush attachment to work your cleaner deep into the seats and really loosen it .
It will save you loads of time and do a much more thorough job for you mate
its getting wet vacced as well so will be fine
You've no idea Matt how entertaining I'm finding your Mondeo flip. Absolutely brilliant so far. And can't wait to see the classic mini resto.
Cannot wait for part 3. You are in your absolute element with this one!
I worked on repairing these when they were new, the LX was a pooular spec for hire and reps cars. They should have a red master key to program spares, and two red chip insert keys from new. You should be able to get a spare key cut and cloned cheap enough on the High St. Ford do lock tumbler repair kits to replace a worn or damaged barrel. The hexagon end of the key has 6 cuts and they match up to 6 tumblers, coded 1to4. The key code is easy to read by the depth of the 6 cuts on the key. Only higher spec cars had remote button keys as standard. The ignition barrel has a receiver behind the cowl to detect the chip in the key. People do chop the red chip off a worn key and clip it to a new cut key if you don't want to pay for a full cloned key. The door handle barrel has a switch to activate the central locking, they do fail but switch cleaner usually revives them. Air con started to be standard fit on the LX from the mid 90s. The fuel flap should release by a lever beside the front seat they do have an emergency release too, tucked away behind the boot trim, my year 2000 LXTD estate had it. If you look it up, there is a way to test the factory alarm and locking system etc, by blipping the rubber alarm button on the bonnet slam panel. It should run the test sequence when all opening panels are closed, and just the bonnet is open.
What a difference already. Roll on episode three 👍👍👍👍
Definitely need to replace the in tank pump,
Matt if you were wondering why you had two power feeds at the pump connector the 12V is the power to operate and the 5V is the feed for the fuel gauge sender unit that works through the ECU.
Citroen started the standard fitment of AC with the Xantia in the mid nineties. I had a 97 Xantia SX which came with ‘Air conditioned luxury’ on a rear window sticker as a brag! A colleague with a similar age Mondeo TD LX didn’t have AC included, but yours would have been on the cusp of it becoming standard.
Not surprised the Mondeo got more views then the Mini, its a car we can relate to as they use to be everywhere the old mk2s
Lovely Jubbly Matt more please, the Mondeo one of my favourite Ford's unlike the modern SUV's they produce today.
I love this series. Can't wait for part 3!
Fellow Mondeo owner over here 👋... albeit mines a MK4. Welcome to test if you're ever in Shropshire 👍
Safety first - always👍 Yours and any one else on the road.
We love projects like this, keep them coming 😃
The bonging noises are the “fasten your seatbelt” warning. I’ve got a Ford Cougar (a mk2 Mondeo in a party frock) that does the same thing. If you push the seatbelt release in while turning the key it’ll confirm this, as that’ll make it stop. All independent of any alarm or immobiliser, and nothing to worry about in this case. My Cougar makes six bongs if you start it without your seatbelt on, then the bonging stops if left to it’s own devices. I’d imagine this car does the same.
What a transformation in the inside of the car it’s so relaxing and rewarding to see the outcome.
This is without doubt a great new angle to the channel. The Mini is fab and can't wait to see that over time, but I really love the Mondeo - a true modern classic now and definitely one to save!! Especially one that has obviously been loved and abandoned. The velour seats are decadent. Seat materials of the 80s and 90s was so much more hard-wearing than modern materials - even my mid 00s leather is a pain and shows its age. The newer stuff is proving to be very weak indeed.
I can very confidently say that I'm sure I am not the only one was on the edge of my seat anticipating the start of a 90s Mondeo which to me is far and beyond more exciting than seeing a supercar being flung around a track. Keep up the execellent work Matt and bring us more rare and humdrum motors!!
I agree with you about tyres. When I have bought old cars for myself I put Goodyear Vector 4 Seasons tyres on them because they make even old cheap cars so much more useful, reassuring and go-anywhere. I’ve also had the seats out of cars to clean them. I wash with Woolite and then vacuum the water off with my shop vac.
That will make a good honest runabout for someone! Great to see you bringing it back to life!
Coming along nicely, this is a great series
Great content Matt. This will create massive interest. Keep em coming 👍👏
Great project and interesting videos Matt - lots more of this kind of thing please
Definitely should do more of these quick flips very enjoyable to watch
Just found your channel and really enjoying can't wait for part three
All your content is top quality, but these videos in particular have been brilliant!
Enjoying this one, thanks for the videos
Oh i do love those things... Can't wait to see part 3! Hoping for the best
Not only do you see the necessity for removing years of another owners bum sweat from the interior of the car, you do it through steamed up glasses. 10/10
Loving this series Matt.
Loving this one Matt can’t wait to see this one running
Great video.... cant wait for part 3 👍🏽
Also, I’d be looking at the loom plug on drivers door, as there’s atleast two items not working on them at door. Corroded pins or broken loom
yes, that does seem to have fingers pointed at it
Great content Matt, keep it coming
Good luck getting the ac to work. Also, you might want to replace the cabin filter as my old Mondeo when I bought it had moss growing out of it! It's under the wipers on the bonnet area. You have to take the plastic trim thing off and it's a pain but makes a big difference to the comfort levels.
Also, if there's a fuel filter under the car. I remember getting that replaced on all my Mondeos and it made a difference. It seems to get forgotten about and can block up. I'm guessing they're cheap being Ford and maybe worth changing when you do the fuel pump.
Stumbled across your channel by chance, great content that's right up my street! Now to work my way through your back catalogue as a new subscriber!
Really enjoying all the content and projects! Long love the Great British at home mechanic.
Nice one, looking forward to seeing the end result👍👍
Great Video Matt, i love these type of videos. When i get my Civic MB and Triumph back on the road i'd love to do a flip like this. im glad you're saving it!
I've just found your channel and it's brilliant
I owned a1.8 GLX many years ago, great driving machine for a mundane family hack, love to see this back to life 😊
Was amazed at by how clean the seats came up, it really was kept well before it was parked up and the interior cleaned up really well. I can see this being a real good drivers car for someone once it's up and running.
I really do appreciate and enjoy your videos
I had two Mondeos, both from 1997, a CLX 1.8 with 115CV and the 1.8 TD with 90CV. Glad to see you're salvaging a legendary car. I love your channel.
Lovely item. Need more of this. I once had same problem with immobilisation. Found out that there was a 'secret' button on the dashboard.
A really entertaining video. Looking forward to part 3
Great video. Eager for the next update.
Enjoyed that Matt Thank you
I think you're heading in the right direction on your channel.
Love these videos, but I wish I knew how you maintain you momentum?! I've got three cars and I struggle with those. No idea where your energy comes from, but it's impressive!
Mould and bum juice. Love it. Just bought one of these. Great cars
Seriously hope you can get the car going Matt, like you I'm a big fan of the early Mondeos, had a Mk 1 and a Mk 2 in the late 90's early 2000's. Took one on a family camping holiday from Yorkshire to Lake Garda and back again, full of family camping gear, it never missed a beat, even through horrendous summer thunderstorms. Why not raffle the vehicle once finished? Another You Tuber High Peak Auto's has recently raffled a couple of refurbed vehicles quite successfully. Fingers crossed you can save her 🤞🤞🤞
Great work Matt 👏 👍
Hopefully part 3 will see the big start up, great to see how well that interior scrubbed up by the way 😎👌
Awesome job Mat 👍 looks like it's coming up really well, my 1998 LX has air con as well.😊😊
Enjoying this satisfying resurrection of this surprisingly good condition modern classic , i can't wait for the part three ( will it run ? ) now .
Just started following you on Twitter and now found you here! Great videos 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Really interesting video. The condition of the seats is great. Back in the 80s and 90s, Ford used some really good quality velour. Neat project.
Nice job 👍 the interior is starting to look pretty good already . Looking forward to seeing if the new fuel pump does the trick.
Well done, this rare car deserves some TLC
I like the idea of flipping it for other main car projects!
I'm really enjoying this
This is making for excellent viewing Matt👍 more quick flips please as well of all your usual content 😀
Excellent stuff 🙏🙏 Definitely more of Please 🙏🙏
Just discovered your channel. Really enjoying it, now going back and catching up with all your previous videos.
Brilliant stuff, hope it runs next time.
At one time i worked for T.C.H and they put push button immobiliser switches under the carpets near the drivers seat have a feel around for a small bump and press it or just go around all the carpet where the driver sits because i saw a red light flashing near the radio, there should be a fuel cut of button incase you have a slow bump on the front , look it up on the net ok mat.
I can't believe how well this car has come up. Dad had a purple one! Good on you.
Awsome work, we need more off these type off videos🤩👏
Love 90's cars, i daily drive a 98 corolla😎
Thoroughly enjoying this series. Lovely to see the Mondeo hopefully being saved. Amazing transformation so far just hope it fires up when fuel pump replaced. Reckon you should keep it and get rid of something else e.g mini 😀.
I like the "in the bin" reference, 😂.
I had a R plate 97 Mondeo TDi LX company car, which had air-con too. Was great to have
I really do like this car, it is cleaning up really well❤
Excellent progress on the Mondeo, looking forward to the first turn of the key, here is hoping you don't end up with a fuel pump saga like Quentin put you through. Interior came up very nicely.
