Far from underrated to me, one of my all time favourite songs of the 80s. Seeing all the Sydney locations in this clip takes me back to a time when this city was fun, gritty and an adventure!

john king Well said my friend. Such a shame you didn't get to enjoy our beautiful Chrissy in your youth. Unequivocally the most talented frontwomen ever in Australian music. She demanded your attention. John king, You found Chrissy and the Divynals at last. I can only think, like alot of super talented Aussie bands back then, they just wern't main strem enough to get the air play they definitely deserved. I was lucky enough to grow up with them and saw them for the first time when I was 16. She showed young Australian women they didn't have to be in the background. You are who they've come to see.
Enjoy The Divynals and Chrissy now. Make up for lost time.

From here in Canada it is heartbreaking to see what we've missed....the early Divinyls...fresh, raw and extraordinarily innovative with a proudly unambiguous Austrailian identity and an unabashed lyrical frankness with beautiful (and somewhat frightening) Chrissy boldly punching away at the barriers of convention.

    City air, toxic taste
A girl falls from innocent grace
    Where pleasure has it's price
Looking into your eyes your eyes
    Are open are open wide
No ties no surprise in your eyes
    Are open wide
Wonder if you got the chance
To let your real feelings show
Dry eyes men and women looking
    Into your eyes your eyes
    Are open are open wide
No ties no surprise in your eyes
    Are open wide
Now I'm happy happy happy happy
Happy just to see you with a friend now and then
    Happy happy happy happy
Music changes but the dance steps don't

    We miss you, Chrissy.
    City air, toxic taste
A girl falls from innocent grace
    Where pleasure has it's price
Looking into your eyes your eyes
    Are open are open wide
No ties no surprise in your eyes
    Are open wide
Wonder if you got the chance
To let your real feelings show
Dry eyes men and women looking
    Into your eyes your eyes
    Are open are open wide
No ties no surprise in your eyes
    Are open wide
Now I'm happy happy happy happy
Happy just to see you with a friend now and then
    Happy happy happy happy
Music changes but the dance steps don't
    When the good die young

I remember them playing at Colonnades in Adelaide, South Australia back in early 90’s and the air con broke down.
As if she didn’t heat up the place enough herself! She shouted drinks to everyone. Good times.
