The "It's My Life" cassette was the soundtrack to my life, 1986-1988. R.I.P., Mark Hollis. You were such a gift to all your fans and Talk Talk fans, and to the musical world!
This song has been a favorite of mine for decades now. I remember I had a dream and in the dream I was listening to this song. I woke up and listened to it multiple times that day and sometime during the day I looked up Mark Hollis to see what's he up to now. Suffice it to say that my jaw dropped as that day was February 26th 2019, one day after he died. Mark Hollis, you will never be forgotten.
Exactly. I don't like being one of those people who think they can divine someone's emotional state by voice or look, but there is just something about this guy that said, "early childhood trauma.' RIP Mark Hollis!
I'm a girl born in middle 90s, but I'm deeply in love with this masterpiece and Talk Talk in general. Their music makes me feel nostalgic of times I've never lived and this is something inexplicable with words... Only wonderful music generate such a powerful feeling... ♥ Thank you, Mark Hollis and Talk Talk ♥
Hey Valentina, You Ain't Wrong! Those of Us Alive When TALK TALK first showed-up [ a little after Duran Duran, Spandau Ballet, & Ultra Vox ], felt pretty much, within 3-5 years, - as You Do Now-!
The music of the 80s was influenced by all the greats of the 60s and 70s, and then had the advantage of the power of new technology with synths and electronics to allow guitarists to take their sound even further. Mark had such an incredible voice and was a phenomenal song writer and visioneer. Modern music struggles to find anyone of his level of talent. Plenty of pretend garbage though.
@@Maverick-to7no Oh yeah Duran duran was so great, i'm born in 73 so it was so good. But i'm truly sad about Mark Hollis, but i agree it was a great time for music.
do not mistake yourself : this band is one of the most underestimated band of the 80's, and Mark Hollis one of the most underestimated singer/composer. And this video is...terribly fun ! Enjoy if you don't know Talk Talk, or listen to these songs again and again and again and again, otherwise ... its' a shame
Amazing group, amazing song and amazing that it was part of the best era of music, the 80s. Loved "Its my life", has always been one my all time favorite songs, but this was on the album that I listened to none stop and loved it. Great voice, great music and so timeless. I just turned 57 and still love this music as I always have.
I heard it on my dad's old cassette when I was 23, but I fell in love with it absolutely from the first chorus where Mark sings so pretty good, so strong, emotional voice, such beautiful, sincerely open melody... This song has helped me to go through so many troubles, it helps me right now as well. I like other Talk Talk's songs, but this one is my own piece of heal for my broken heart...
Well, being sad of losing Mark Hollis is such a shame. He made us such a precious gift and now it is upon us to keep up with it. His performance on this clip is astonishing to me and I have to re-evaluate all his work through his light laughs and his dark frowns (already started). Bonus: when the clip starts he (mute) says "hello to you all". Also, extract from Mateo1980: "Number me with rage" meaning: Assign to me the number that has come out after rolling the dice (and that's the number that decides my destiny-by chance). Assign it with rage, assign it in haste. Our destiny is decided by those trembling hands that roll the dice. One cannot react. One can only stare. It's a shame that we are given a number that decides our destiny. But it's inevitable. One cannot believe that there is an escape from his/her own very destiny. The eagerness to change is nullified by the immutability of fate. A life on every face is reference to the face of the die, each one reflecting a different path. That's all folks.
Bless his beautiful soul. A man ahead of his times. Gone but certainly not forgotten.

My best wishes from England to Russia. They try and divide us but we must not give them our power. The west has been antagonising for much too long and always the common people who are the fodder to their nihilistic aims. Music crosses these boundaries.
This song is just impossibly perfect . Shivers down my spine and a big smile each time, still after all those years . We were lucky.👍
I love how expressive Mark's face is, amazing video.
Glad my youth was in the 80's, great band, great song. Fits the 80's perfectly.
Me too, I wish there was a Time Machine, take me back please……😊✨✨✨
@@susansmith4003 Take me with you please, wanna re-live everything again for the 1st time. The 80's... best time of my life! OMG at 02:30 i got goosebumps al over the place.

Wouldn’t it be good…... If anyone comes too close to my ultra crimped and back combed hair with their fag I'll go up in a ball of flames though 😂😂 Aw I do miss the 80s so much, it was a fab time to be young 😊✨✨
My kingdom for a moment…..

Wasn’t it great 😊
RIP my Dear Mark. I will never forget you, you are part of who I am today 🙏. ❤
a part of our lives also dies when they leave...
Where have the years gone? The telephone boxes show how long ago all this great music was made. ❤😢
With phone books inside! All a long time ago. It's a different world now.
I was born in 2003, and this song still makes me feel nostalgic. Masterpiece.
I love the gestures and movements of Paul Webb here! And Mark Hollis facial expressions, of course 😊💛
Finally I found this unique band... Deep words, deep music, unexpected harmonies, deep bassline and drums and... humor. Wisdom of youth.... Thanks internet - now it's here and on repeat
Mark Hollis teaches us to laugh, instead of hate. RIP Mark Hollis
Absolutely iconic song of our youth.Mark Hollis and his band are timeless.
Love this band. His voice is fantastic....I watched a couple of their live concerts and damn they are amazing live...Rest In Peace Mark...
🙏🏻🕊🙏🏻❤😪
It's a shame, that such a wonderful singer and songwriter died years ago, much too young.
It's such a shame, that I've never witnessed him and this band live...
Listen up, go to every live concert you can! You will regret, sooner or later, if you don't!
His smile and personality is charismatic! Was! RIP Marc Hollis!🙏
Brilliant band, outstanding songs and never to be forgotten. The 80’s made many unforgettable memories by brilliant bands especially Talk Talk.
"It's My Life" gets all the attention, but this might actually be their masterpiece. Love this song.
"Happiness is easy" is the only song of their synthpop era that I'd put even above those two
@@robf1557 ...... 'their synthpop era' just comprised the first two albums so Happiness Is Easy came in phase two after they abandonned that style.
Oh so agree!! Love it
Both masterpieces

A gorgeous man ❤️
Only just found out... so sad!
These days, I'm living in Brazil and I don't see much news from England.
I've been watching this vid frequently over the past two years. Had no idea until now.
Damn! :(

That voice coupled with symphonic melody
I love his smile. Thank you,Mark Hollis for your beautiful music. ❤
This song stood, stands and will stand time for years to come. R.I.P Mr Hollis your music WILL live on, you're an inspiration...
Two years ago today we lost a fantastic vocalist, musician and artist. I hope his family knows how important Mark's music is to many of us.

The "It's My Life" cassette was the soundtrack to my life, 1986-1988. R.I.P., Mark Hollis. You were such a gift to all your fans and Talk Talk fans, and to the musical world!
Such an UNDERRATED TRACK
This song has been a favorite of mine for decades now. I remember I had a dream and in the dream I was listening to this song. I woke up and listened to it multiple times that day and sometime during the day I looked up Mark Hollis to see what's he up to now. Suffice it to say that my jaw dropped as that day was February 26th 2019, one day after he died. Mark Hollis, you will never be forgotten.
If you're reading this, you have a damn good taste in music
I read.
Thank you. 👍👍👍👍
Most Definitely ❤️💯
You too.
I know
Absolutely LOVE the expressions on his face here, such fun but also that undertone of loss ...of this man with the huge talent 💔
Exactly. I don't like being one of those people who think they can divine someone's emotional state by voice or look, but there is just something about this guy that said, "early childhood trauma.' RIP Mark Hollis!
it's a shame that music like this isn't made anymore...SUCH A SHAME
I'm a girl born in middle 90s, but I'm deeply in love with this masterpiece and Talk Talk in general. Their music makes me feel nostalgic of times I've never lived and this is something inexplicable with words... Only wonderful music generate such a powerful feeling... ♥ Thank you, Mark Hollis and Talk Talk ♥

Hi I recommend an 80's style song called 'Looking Into The Mirror' By Robert Nix
Enjoy if you don't know Talk Talk, or listen to these songs again and again and again and again, otherwise ... its' a shame
haggag77 i Listen and Love it since the 80s. So sad he’s dead.
Too true such a great band sadly missed
Very true and their music aged so well. It sounded futuristic back when it came out and still does. Production and sound engineering was fantastic
Talk talk have to fight 3 giants (tears for fears, duran duran, depeche mode) + a-ha😁

Absolutny hit wszech czasów
One of the best songs of 80's.
Hi I recommend a Song Called 'Where I Come From' By Robert Nix
80's MUSIC NEVER DIES !
❤❤❤❤❤❤This song it's not a shame!!!!
Thank you for all of the beautiful, thought provoking music, Mark. I've been listening since 1984.
There was a time when in the Music the VOICE was matter than the appereance!!!
RIP Mark! ❤❤
He was also very attractive! Its a matter of taste 😊
He was really cute ❤
He is literally the most beautiful man in my eyes in every way! 💕❤️🥰
1 year gone today but most definitely not forgotten. Thanks for all the songs and music Mark. RIP
Thank you Mark for blessing us with your incredible talent! You’ll never be forgotten!
Also, extract from Mateo1980:
"Number me with rage" meaning:
Assign to me the number that has come out after rolling the dice (and that's the number that decides my destiny-by chance).
Ты ключ к пониманию песни. Спасибо большое))))
