I too lost my mum in early Nov, and this song, and others similar, takes me back to those better days of my late teens and early 20s with her. Love and condolences to you friend.
I’m getting to the point where hearing this song and all of the other 90s favorites are bringing tears to my eyes because I wish things were the way they were in ‘98.
Right along with you, bro..born in 1971 here..I was in my twenties when the 90s rolled around. There were lots of different music to choose from. Rap/hip hop, alternative, Pop, trance, R&B, rock, grunge.. so much good music 🎶
Yeah those were the days. I got my first cellphone in 2004. So, early 2000s they weren't the trend yet? Another thing: paper employment applications for jobs and none of this online application bullshit that we know no one really gets hired through
@@TheJohnRage I got my first cell phone in 2008. You didn;t necessarily get hired if you filled out a paper employment application either, though. I remember snail-mailing out lots of resumes, no responses.
I’m 65 years old. This video reminds me of every trip to the beach I took with friends in the 70’s. They captured the sheer fun and innocence. No smoking or drinking or drugs. Just fun. If you close your eyes you can feel the sunshine and smell the saltwater. Perfect.
Lol who can have fun like that WITHOUT being drunk lol that was the 90’s! Day drinking on vacation was the norm! I can remember a trip to Acapulco when I was 13 (about 2003 or so) and my mom gave me some money to buy a couple beers for her, I remember thinking how could they not card me but the guy at the stand saw US dollars and instantly gave me 3 cold brews from a cooler! That was my first beer enjoyed on a sunny beach in Mexico toes in the sand lol I miss those days my mom passed in 2014 never been the same since much like this music its unfortunately a by gone era RIP
This video perfectly captures the essence of the '90s, featuring random yet talented individuals trying to look cool in front of the camera. I mean that in the best way.
So glad I grew up in the 90's ... and everyday that passes I'm a little more grateful for that. What a kick ass time.. wish we could all get back there.
@@mumumeme8496 I said "everyday that passes.. I am a little more grateful for that." I didn't say I tell myself shit. Reading comprehension. Goes a long way.
I had 20 years of this music. I lived through the 80s and the 90s, I definitely didn't miss a million miles of fun. I had a fantastic time thanks. 🎉🎉🎉😊
I would say, the 70's 80's and 90's were the best. What happened? Now, nothing but taylor swift and some rap music. The 90's did have Seinfeld, Frasier and at the end of it, That 70's show, King of the hill, etc
This was a time when us young folks didn't have cell phones, so most of our time was spent figuring out where all our friends were and hoping they would still be there when you got there.
Sometimes I think that artists don’t know what impact their work has on people but this song really got me through some bad times in the summer of ‘99, it may have been a one hit wonder but it made an impact
I’ve always been extremely nostalgic myself but i also always find myself nostalgic about things that were from only a couple of years before any given point. It may sound corny but that made me realize that we shouldn’t take things for granted now, because I’ll always want to go back to it later.
On contrary reminiscing makes me happy. Had a great time in the 90s.... looking forward to my 50s and retiring, it's the present - commuting and working daily that's depressing.....I use the 90s memories to cheer myself up.
Man I remember being a kid listening to this wishing I was an adult. Now as an adult with a teenager of my own I sure wish I could go back to those days. Life goes by so fast.
This is why it's so important to learn to live in the present, otherwise you'll always be wishing for another time. Speaking of the 90's, Cheryl Crowe had a song called "Soak Up The Sun" which has a lyric in it that's apropos: "It's not getting what you want, it's wanting what you got."
My parents used to talk about how great the 60’s & 70’s were and now I can relate being Born in 1980 so grew up 80’s & 90’s two of the best decades. Remember this song like it was yesterday
When life gets tough I go back to this video. Love the song but the footage of them being goofy and free in an airport of all places gives me positive nostalgia and sadness at the same time. We were free and happy and probably naïve but we had childhoods.
The sad truth. We can never go back, but the music lives on as a microcosm of what once was, taunting us as much as comforting us. Gosh, I miss the nineties.
Somehow, 24 years later, this is still possibly the greatest summer song. It is so, so good that every time I hear it I have to stop what I’m doing and listen.
The sound at 0:13 brings me back. My mom used to love this song. She would play it when we drove. She took her life a few years back. This song always reminds me of the good time I had with her. RIP.
Same here but an od. Instantly think of her when song start. And a lot of other bangers. Use to think of it as a curse that made life worse but then realized was awesome to have a cultured mom, but drugs and depression are definitely a curse tho lol
What I love about old music is people who weren't necessarily models were making hit music. The people in this video look like a regular crowd on a good day out. Most videos now have all the mega attractive fairly unrelatable crowd. This feels so much more natural!
It was the trend of using high contrast coloring in music videos, and Specifically Music videos, from around 1997 to around 2004. It's super obvious in music videos that use movie clips
this song reminds me of my niece. She was a premie baby and they said she might not make it... I would visit her everyday after summer school and this song would play on the radio. She graduated HS this May :)
It's: "And of course you can't become, if you only say what you would've done." You're right that it's a good line. I wonder if you actually know why tho.. jk 90s love peace out X
"My sticky paws were into making straws out of big fat slurpy treats, incredible eight foot heap" Yes, whoever wrote these lyrics is Shakespeare reborn
All three you listed were created by the very government that pretends to protect us from these things lmao.. Bring back the 90s please.. Im not liking the world my baby girl has to grow up in.. Fucking cardi b and mumble rap on every street corner and radio station not to mention 📺.. Our world has become poisoned to the core.. Teach your children about love and truth.. Hope life treats you well my friend.. Be safe and be humble!!
Staying up late on school nights/weekends, and watching videos on VH1 and MTV. Seeing this pop up, then "You Get What You Give" right after. Man the good ol days where anyone could just enjoy songs.
I'm only in my 30s and I already feel intense nostalgia for the 90s. Before the Internet. I'm starting to understand how technological advancements have a price.
I'm scraping 40 now. People kind of glorify the 90s, but there was a lot about it that sucked and in a lot of ways it was a harder time. But honestly the current era is so toxic, self absorbed yet self hating, and pessimistic that the 90s seem amazing in comparison.
@@doc_sav I agree that no era was perfect, and honestly I don't know if I'd want to live in the '90s compared to my life now. But I wish I could vacation there for just a month and enjoy the slow pace
Say what ya'll want about this tune, but this song was HUGE in its day. And will still be played on the airwaves long after your and my ass has left this Earth. Certain songs will stand the test of time and this will be one people.
Yeah, this was overplayed on the radio at the time and I preferred their rock grunge sound in their song Candypop better, but now this song is pure nostalgia and warm sunshine :)
@@JR-vr2pz I think part of it is because so much music now is layers deep in irony and self-awareness, and this is just straight up earnest about itself. Plus, the melody and beat aren't too distinctly "90's", so it has a little timeless quality
This song. Never Ever Ever Gets old. Long live spring break '99! Read a description about how this group came together some time ago. The sister almost didn't record with them and one of the guys too. Glad they made this.
I was a Metal head punk kid then i met this girl and we were out in my car and she goes this is what i listen to and put the CD in and this poppy number is playing and shes singing all the parts that girl sings along with the chorus and im watching her blond hair in the wind as she sings with a voice of a angel dam i got the coolest girl in world and life is pretty fucking good lol wonder whats she up to these days lol
I liked this girl I worked with and I remember her saying she liked this song, so I wanted to surprise her with the cd for her bday. I didn't know the groups name though so I sang the song to the Best Buy guy and luckily he knew who I was talking about. She was so happy and laughed when I told her how I got it and became my girlfriend that summer. This song will always remind me of her.
It's easy to get caught up in the idea that things were better "back then," but the truth is, we can often revive the qualities we miss by making conscious choices.
It's always been imploding. People these days are just overly sensitive snowflakes. Sh!t was a lot more tense during the peak of the cold war. My mother used to have nightmares about being incinerated in nuclear fire, mainly because it was a real possibility back then.
Well definitely being able to walk up to the airline gate and welcome your friends as they got off the planes in retrospect was a nice freedom we took for granted.
I'm 52 now. I listened to this song on the way down to Florida. I just found out they're Canadian like me. The sister in the band wears purple tinted glasses and looks identical to my aunt from back when she was married. Adds more to my love of this song.
Man do I miss the late 90s. 1998 i was 18. Being a teen in the 90s was awesome! No worries, no cell phones, no social media. Friends, parties, music and movies. Man do i miss the closeness. Especially calling each other on actual phones and talking for hours. Today's world is falling apart and it does not even resemble anything back then. Sad really.
I got my first cell phone in 1993 While in high school. A motorola ultra lite or something like that. The grey one with flip bottom. I was one of the only ones in school to have one so was useless as I could only really phone my folks lol
I have no idea why I randomly remembered this song today. Glad I looked it up. I remember hearing this in high school and thinking the girl had such a sexy voice.

you can thank the internet for that one
cfairfax85 nah just look how people dressed like a bunch of degenerates
Sad really.
Agreed, I also was 18🙌🏽
Same bro. I was 18 too. Class of '96
Can't agree more brother. Born in 82
@@coryschritter5944 1980 here. Just turmed 40. You dont realize until you get older, that time period was prob some of the best in your life.
I got my first cell phone in 1993 While in high school. A motorola ultra lite or something like that. The grey one with flip bottom. I was one of the only ones in school to have one so was useless as I could only really phone my folks lol
The 90s wasn't a decade, it was an emotion.
I'm autistic and music in the 90s was relief from getting bullied.
It was actually a decade in time lol
It was a decade. Get over yourself.
@@dan1906 LOL
@@dan1906 lmfao umad kid?
I have no idea why I randomly remembered this song today. Glad I looked it up. I remember hearing this in high school and thinking the girl had such a sexy voice.
+D X BEST FUCKING DAYS,EVER!! #1990'S

+D X she definitely does
+D X I believe she's the male singer's sister. Now watch the video again.
Knock knock. Who's there? Doctor. DOCTOR WHO Well, I need to find that video. Has it been proven they are siblings or is this just some sort of White Stripes deal?
I miss the 90s! Last of the simple times. When your cellphone was just for phone calls.
...If you even had one. I didn't get my first cell phone until I was 21, I'm 30 now. Now, eight year olds have iPhones. How times have changed...
I had a beeper at the time, everyone thought I was a drug dealer lmao good times.
