    Probably one of the best and most informative beginner airbrush videos I've seen, and I've watched a LOT. Lots of tutorials and beginner videos are very vague on things like air pressure, ratios of liquids in the thinning mix, what is important with compressors, etc. You were pretty open about what you use and the fact that a lot of it is a matter of preference and that people can just start with what you like and work their way from there. Big kudos on actually suggesting a place to start and explaining why you do things the way you do.

    Thanks man! This was informative. You inspired me to pick up sideshows darkseid. Im going to attempt a yellow lantern repaint from the DCeased comic.

      Awesome. Would love to see pics when you're done with that. I'm actually getting ready to start on two of the Sideshow Darkseid statues this month. Same color scheme but improving the overall look. I'll have video of that process up in the future.

    Thank you for this! Been thinking about diving into airbrushing statues for touch ups and didn't know where to start.

      Thanks for watching. This would be the basics to get you started with the paint flowing properly. The rest can be found in my repair vids.. which I have a ton more of on the way very soon.

    At first I though UA-cam suggested this video because like some apps do they listen in on conversations etc but no, it was just the good old notification bell doing it’s job haha! Thank you for this tutorial. I am now more motivated to open up my airbrush kit that’s been sealed for the past couple of months. Where can I get that tiny spoon? seems helpful for judging paint consistency. By the way, is you try hard enough I think you can push a grapefruit thru a straw ;)

      Awesome, glad to hear. It's a paint stirrer that comes with some metal cups for mixing. I normally use wooden skewers, or paint brushes for stirring.. but what I like about the tiny metal spoon (and even the metal cups) is that they are easy to clean and I don't go through as many plastic throw away items as usual (plastic mixing cups).

    Very informative video, quick question, what is your paint to thinner ratio? For how many drops/mL to thinner?

    • @itsallthingsart
      @itsallthingsart  Рік тому +1

      I don't measure that out precisely as it can sometimes be altered by different brands of paints..and on rare occasions different colors of the same brand. Roughly 50/50 but I'll add my thinner to the paint until it slowly drips off of my mixing tool (milky consistently) as shown towards the end of the video. Also the great thing about the Iwata Eclipse is it handles just about any mix/ratio. For regular brush work by hand I'm just using a small drop.. roughly 10/1 depending on the application.
      Thanks for watching 👍

    Do you use that custom mix for primers too? I’ve read that some primers don’t work as well with a flow improver.

    • @itsallthingsart
      @itsallthingsart  Рік тому +2

      I do not thin my airbrush primers... I use Vallejos surface primer or Badgers (more rigid). They are already very fluid.. so I'll just crank the PSI up to around 40-50 and they spray great. On rare occasions I might add a drop of my thinner mix or flow improver to avoid clogs. Depends on how long I'm spraying the primer.. As it does dry up very quickly and can be nasty inside the gun. I use one of my cheaper airbrush guns for spraying primers. Or just make sure to flush them good between refilling the paint cup and right away when finished.

      @@itsallthingsart I’m currently tearing down and cleaning my Badger because. I’ve let some Stynelrez sit in there longer than I should.

      @@j.taylor7361 yeah I've done that once before as well.. lesson learned. Sometimes you get caught up in painting and just forget. Definitely recommend grabbing a cheap Master gun off of Amazon for spraying primers.

    Do you ever use enamel paint?

    • @itsallthingsart
      @itsallthingsart  7 місяців тому

      Rarely. I prefer to work with acrylic.. dries quicker and easier to ventilate.
