Best of the Best is still Best of the Best! Again, I just rewatched this movie and it just another reminder of what the core spirituality, discipline respect and honor that martial arts are derived from. This movie makes me cry EVERY time I see it. The emotion on display from Eric Roberts & Phillip Rhee's characters is palpable. How can you not connect to their love and loss for their families!?!?!?!? 😢 I could go on and on, this movie is just martial art gold🥇🥇🥇 Thank you yet again Mr Adkins for bringing my heroes back to life❤️
Philip is arguably the best pure taekwondo/Korean martial arts practitioner that's ever been on screen. As someone who's done taekwondo for much of my life, his technique is absolutely superb. I also did hapkido for a number of years, and later in the best of the best series Philip's hapkido is equally fantastic. He's just a wonderful example of what the Koreans bring to the martial arts world.
Amazing to see Phillip Rhee "LEGEND", Being 2 years older than you Scott, my sons watch what I watched as a young lad and also watch you now. Get your films released to buy!!!

Scott Adkins, I can’t thank you enough for doing this series. For all the bad things that came out in 2020, this is absolutely the best that has happened to 2020. Seeing all my childhood heroes sharing their stories.
Philip Rhee was the reason that I'd bought all the Best Of sequels. The guy is amazing and some of his moves inspired me more than ever to better myself. I could not kick quickly to dave my life, but my sensei knew that and he made me focus on my upper body strength, so my punches and throws could compensate. Scott, i totally agree. This is not only an awesome martial arts movie with amazing kicks, it’s a sports-drama with an emotional journey. When i watched it, it blew me away and it also made me cry, too at the end of the movie. The way he apologized is very touching, also the scene in which the icecream falls down and the brother gives his icecream to his brother. These are taekwondo virtues, that is the meaning of taekwondo. Phillip, thank you very much for this awesome movie "Best of the Best". It's one of my all-time favorite movies, and it inspired me in so many ways. Today i am a 5th black belt of taekwondo and my two favourite kicks are of course Twio dwit chagi (jumping back kick) and Momdollyo huryo chagi. (spinning hook kick). And a reason for that is you and your movie. I am very impressed by the „back kick-scene“ on the pad and the reading blows the scale and your colleague flies backwards and takes a short break. It is a pleasure to watch and I wanted to be able to do that, too. Also the stone-breaking with the inside of the hand. I trained hard and with passion for many years an then i was able to made it. Kyokpa with 10 Stones with a sonnaldung chigi (punch with the inside hand edge). Best oft the Best is a wonderful movie, a pleasure to watch and truely emotional. Thank you Phillip. PS: Yes, we love martial arts movies in germany ;-)

Recently discovered this series, and Im truly loving it! Rhee, speakman, jaa so far. All amazing action stars i grew up on. Ok, imma shut up and keep watching 💚🙏
Fantastic! Scott thank you from the bottom of my heart for creating this series. Your face of enthusiasm as a fan, just like we would gush over are Martial Art heroes from when we were young. Amazing to see Actors like Phillip what an impact and reach they had and still going. My childhood all in this series, I was a child of abuse so these films really saved my life and got me training. Bruce Lee is what opened my eyes originally.
Great interviews, watched almost all of them, if I may recommend more martial arts actors of the 80-90 to interview here is a list.Garry Daniels, Don The Dragon Wilson, Jeff Speakman, Michael Duducoff, David Bradley, Billy Blanks, Mathiass Hues, Jeff Wincott, Jeff Meeks, Jason Scott Lee. And of course the obvious Jacky Chan, Jet Lee, Donnie Yen, Van Damme, Steven Seagul, Keanu Reeves, Chuck Norris.
Please interview Brad Allan. Amazing martial artist and one of the best stunt coordinators. I would Love to hear him talk about his time with the Jackie Chan stunt team, Gorgeous, and doing stint coordination for Hellboy 2, Scott Pilgrim vs The World, etc.
I love seeing both martial artist talking how to get start their journey in the field of martial art. These guys are one of my most favorite action stars
Every episode of this show is pleasure for me. I’m the same generation with Scott and have the similar motivation from this movies. I live in Kyrgyzstan. I’ m glad kids of my generation all over the world were motivated by this movies to start training those days.
Hi Sensei Scott, really looking forward to this 👌👌👌. Would be great if you could add the following to your list. Van Damme. Dudikoff. Speakman. Kosugi. Snipes.
Excellent to see Philip Rhee again he made amazing movies back in 80s 90s wonderful man. It Will be good if he will Come back and make some more great interview thanks Scott
Please Scott include a schedule of action guys of the 80's and 90's like Michael Dudikoff, Jeff Speakman then after that action heroes like Liam Neeson perhaps. Wow, that would be a blast.
Remember that the show was about action movies, we know that in some movies most Hollywood actors does not have any Martial Art skills but they need to learn to become action guys, examples are the likes of Christian Bale,Liam Needson or even the great Keanu Reeves who all are now recognized as action guys. The audience definitely deserve to know their experience in the training they had to do to be the expert in hand to hand combat that they portray and what kind of Martial Art they had to learn. Like Matt Damon for the Bourne series.
Dudikoff would be good if Scott could get him. He didn't have a martial arts background initially, but I'm sure he has a lot of good stories given the number of action movies he made. Some of his movies like American Ninja I & II are classics of the budget action genre.
Watching the Interview brings back so many memories as a martial artist.Best of the best is one of the great martial arts films of all time.Thank you Scott and Philip for keeping the arts alive and kicking.much respect.🙏🥋
Everyone knows Van Damme's story (or every big A-list stars'). He has given a billion interviews and even made an autobiographical movie of some sort. It's the B-stars we need to learn about because we don't have that information.
Wow. What an interview. Did not expect Phillip to have such a really interesting life. Didn't know about his rough upbringing in San Francisco or teaching celebrities in L.A.. Great to hear about his principles of filmmaking and action choreography for the Best of the Best films. (He's right, I could see the lines in his techniques!) Being Asian-American myself, I thought his ideas on racism and how to deal with it were fantastic. And trying to limit violence in his films for his students, wow....again, thought I'd just listen for a few minutes and ended up listening to the entire hour. A wonderful interview, to both Scott and Phillip. Thank you.

I can't believe on how good that Phillip Rhee is as a martial artist he has not done big movies.
We used to watch Best of the Best back in the 90's the night before a Taekwondo tournament to get motivated.
That scene when Chris penn moves and the dude hits his own girl in the face!! 🤦♂️🤦♂️😂😂😂
“Good move, don’t take any lip from her!” 😂😂😂
thats one of my favorite parts of the movie LOL! so many funny parts in that movie... like "Travis... inner and outer labia?" lol
The guy who throws the punch is kane hodder of friday the 13th fame.
chris penn has become my fav character in the series. when i was a kid i didn't like his attitude (i was more of a fan of babyfaces rather than say...antiheroes) but i grew out of that and started to appreciate the humor in the movie as an adult
PG Plays Video Games...... “Drop him like a toilet seat Tommy!”
My second favourite martial artist, you can tell he's fought for real, great screen performances 👏
Scott is the GOAT, how about getting Ray Park on here!
First time I've seen this suggestion and it rules!
He’s in a bit of trouble lol
@@psilva2462 What happened to him?
+1 more for Ray Park
Ok just googled him, yeah he probably wont be on Scott's show for a while...
Best of the Best 2 is my fave movie he is in.
I agree Best of the Best 2 was awesome.
Best of the Best was great. Good action, excellent cast, nice story. 1989 was a golden year: Batman, Lethal Weapon, Indiana Jones...
I fucking agree 100% the 80s had the best movies and also the 90s.
Great words, Phillip! It's not about racism, but about characters. What a compassion in your heart!
Who's the guy disliked this needs a roundhouse kick from scott and master rhee
yep..4 dickheads lol
5 now very disappointed
Maybe my husband....😊
Although I understand the need for this question I doubt that they will stand up and reveal their names to receive these kicks 😂
IT WAS DAEHAN
Amazing conclusion about nowadays prejudices and how to battle it ..Great message Phillip &Scott
i dont care who should be better in an Mind of anyone cause everyone has his own different Spirit
So good to see Phillip Rhee again. I’ve been binging all of your podcasts recently. There brilliant
"No Tommy no! Coach! His gonna kill him " best movie ever Tommy lee
NO!
I've been waiting for this interview! Phillip Rhee is an amazing martial artist, really enjoyed listening to the stories from his past. Thanks Scott Adkins for bringing this to us!
Scott interview Keith Cook..........famous for the triple kick!!!
Recently discovered this series, and Im truly loving it! Rhee, speakman, jaa so far. All amazing action stars i grew up on. Ok, imma shut up and keep watching 💚🙏
Holy shit thank you I was wondering if this was going to happen 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼 best of the best
Bruce Lee is what opened my eyes originally.
yeap the Ende is defenetly very emotional and was was many times cryin
I have been waiting for this.....Best of the Best 2!!!!!
I've been loving these all week....Cynthia Rothrock came across as a lovely person, still hot but I wouldn't mess with her!
Born in the 70s, I've been waiting for interviews like these for like 30+ years.
Oh yeah. They belong in this Series like Bolo Yeung,James Lew or Al Leong.
And Jeff Imada)
Bolo can't speak English though
Every episode of this show is pleasure for me. I’m the same generation with Scott and have the similar motivation from this movies. I live in Kyrgyzstan. I’ m glad kids of my generation all over the world were motivated by this movies to start training those days.
Hi Sensei Scott, really looking forward to this 👌👌👌. Would be great if you could add the following to your list.
Van Damme.
Dudikoff.
Speakman.
Kosugi.
Snipes.
He got Sho Kosugi’s son on!
@@dennisjr77 awesome
Excellent to see Philip Rhee again he made amazing movies back in 80s 90s wonderful man. It Will be good if he will Come back and make some more great interview thanks Scott
Please Scott include a schedule of action guys of the 80's and 90's like Michael Dudikoff, Jeff Speakman then after that action heroes like Liam Neeson perhaps. Wow, that would be a blast.
Michael Dudikoff for sure
Agree with all except Liam
Pls sir, interview next:
Van Damme
Lateef Crowder
Iko Uwais
Also Donnie Yen, Jackie Chan and Jet Li (unlikely but a man can always dream 😪).
@Gm23 hell yeah
Lateef and Iko are real possibilities, Van Damme though... 50/50. It is just him in every aspect 50/50.
@Gm23😎 👍👍💪👊Gary !!
Everyone knows Van Damme's story (or every big A-list stars'). He has given a billion interviews and even made an autobiographical movie of some sort. It's the B-stars we need to learn about because we don't have that information.
Add also Dick Wei,a great badass from 80's Hongkong movies
Best of the Best is one hell of a movie and story line with fantastic choreography, and it drove me to study ITF Taekwon-Do.
Iko Uwais and Bradley James Allan would be really cool.
That's right 👍
Especially iko
Thank you.
I've been going to work earlier so I can be home in time once a week for the last months to see these ASAP. Love this series!
Best of the Best was the beginning of the Taekwondo movie craze of the 90's. Oh wait..that was never a thing. Still, Best of the Best rules.
And best of the best 2 and 3! My brother and I still quote Brakus, "He marred my Perfection!"
@@k.w.2275 ahah your brother true champion of the under world! :D
This is beyond nostalgia, seeing the person and the stories behind these iconic characters takes these to another level.
You can see Scott holding in his laughter and disbelief at Philips dad and his KAPOOOW hands 3:30 😅😂
Yeah. That's insane! But XI does exists. I have seen a guy split upon a coconut with the least effort with just a single hit.
@@IamGodSon yeah that's training and technique NOT Chi lol.... The way Rhee said it like his dad was in lalal land. Anybody with the perfect placement can break someone's jaw lol
49:21 this is the best message of all, better than anything. Love your work Pillip. Keep safe everyone
Philip Rhee :)
Best of the best 1&2 are phenomenal movies! Philip comes over as a lovely bloke. Another great interview from Scott 😘
