After over a year, I just did all fluids & filters. eCVT Service, Dual System Coolant Flush, Engine Oil Change, Engine Air Filters, & Cabin Air Filters. About $900 in total, but the fluids had some life left in em. Sitting at 284K & change, and the car still drives fantastically & impresses everyone who sits in it. I've spent about $3K in maintenance over the last year, but that includes $1800 in two sets of tires & all the oil changes I've done every ~4,000 miles.
After about 8,000 miles of driving, I have found my 50-mile roundtrip commute to average 28-29MPG. Since this video, I've spent exactly 13 dollars on repairs using only OEM parts.
Do you know if your car has ever had the valley plate leak and/or resealed?
@@Mabeylater293it was done around 160K IIRC.
In retrospect I probably should have had you wait a bit longer, as I learned of all the crazy sensors this car has that you won't know without randomly finding out, but alas. Glad you could come take a look at the car! I've put about 3000 miles on since you filmed this & the car has given me no issues whatsoever.
Stuff I've learned since shooting this: For power numbers, Lexus rates the combined output at 438HP. 394HP for the gas, 221HP for the electric. However, the torque figure is unknown & the power rating is disputed, as you said.
Apparently having 3 cargo nets is normal for these cars 🤷♂️ kinda wacky.
Gotta say good luck to anyone searching for an Executive. I learned from another Lexus dealer that they only made 7 for MY2011 & numbers are similar across all years.
The 18" wheels were exclusive to the Executive since it gives you the comfier ride, so Lexus did not let you option the 19" wheels and the Executive Package.
There are also 6 climate vents for each rear passenger. You have the front center console, under the front seat, in the B-Pillar, above the rear door window, directly above your head, & a rear windshield vent.
The EPA's 20MPG highway figure is a joke. I get 30-32MPG on I-94 @70MPH & about 27MPG combined going to work and back (45 miles total). Only way I average 20MPG in this car is pretty much gunning it half the time.
Oh, and I also hooked up my Wii to the rear TV and it's perfect.
Did not expect it will be more efficient than the EPA rating!😮
@@_louis.se_oh, significantly! Huge difference opposed to the LS460, and I'm not even hypermiling.
Reliable is it? What fours wrong? Mileage?
@@Mabeylater293watch the video!
@@Nathan_Jaysorry I should have been more specific. I was talking about what things have needed replacing in the 261,000 miles like the air suspension, control arms or brake actuator. Thanks
That car is literally a luxury hotel on wheels. That's pretty damn sweet!!
Toyota's hybrids are some of the most reliable cars you can buy. This car looks like new for having 261k miles. It may not be as flashy as an S-Class but I'd be more impressed by someone pulling up in one of these because they rejected bling for build quality. Boss move trading up from a 3rd gen Prius to this.
Thanks mate 🤝😎
Fun fact: The third generation Toyota Century shares the exact same hybrid powertrain with the LS600hL.
And the platform too! Even looking at the interior, you can tell they didn't change a lot of design. Pretty neat, actually.
Now that they've developed the twin turbo hybrid it makes you wonder why they kept it. Us ls600 owners know why 😁
@@stopdrpnro because Lexus believes in the phrase "they don't make em like they used to". I'm very disappointed with the LS500 & LS500h.
@@Nathan_Jaydon’t be disappointed, the LS500 is a great car.
And the engine
I have an 09 LS 460 and I love it. For anyone considering one... Keep in mind that while they are cheap the maintenance is extremely expensive. This take 9 quarts of oil - expect to spend at least $100 per oil change. It takes premium only, and gets terrible city MPG (at least the 460 does) I can break 30 MPG if I drive 70 on the freeway. Brakes are expensive. They don't have a ton of issues but control arms and brake actuators often go out. The car has 8 control arms total that can easily cost 6-8k to repair if you do it at the dealer. Brake actuator is another few grand. I wouldn't buy one of these unless your actual budget for a car is much more than youre paying for the LS.
The non L / hybrid models can still be nice in the back. Mine isn't maxxed out, but still has reclining rear seats with heating/ventilation. If you like music the Mark Levinson is a must have, but be aware the amplifiers frequently go out. I also had a subwoofer die in mine.
I want to know why you pay over $100 for an oil change…but you’re not wrong overall. These cars can get stupidly expensive to own and maintain. I’m fortunate all the heavy work was done by the first owner in the past few years, so I don’t have to worry about any suspension woes. I am prepared to drop a few grand on parts if it is needed. Was between this & an EA824 A8L, I preferred this. Fortunately with control arms, you can do em at home with a bit of mechanical knowledge (I work on 737s, 757s, & A320s for a living) for a lot less than OEM parts, maybe $1200. Either way, definitely have to come prepared if it isn’t all done beforehand.
This is why you buy an ES…
@@thepcuser5469 more accurately, why you go buy a car knowing what to expect & be prepared.
@@Nathan_Jay i think what you said is more accurate, if say you were prepared to pay a lot for oil changes then it’s gonna be no problem
@@thepcuser5469slow. Cheap. Other than that they are nice. I have a friend with one
1:14 a Zack “squirrel” moment
We just bought my grandma a 2008 Lexus LS 460 we where impressed how nice it was
Thanks for this post! Makes me appreciate the Lexus brand even more!
1:12 Me in the car mid sentence talking to my wife when I see a nice car 😂
thanks for the “friend” scenario, it touched me, i can fully relate
I have a 2015 LS6600hL (45K miles) and it is a "sleeper car" which I prefer not to draw attention to what I have. When you get inside it is amazing (executive package) is all that and more. I personally like the refreshed front end and the interior which was updated as well. The only upgrade that I have done is change the rims to a LS 500 chrome rimes - they are perfect with the Nebula Gray exterior. The interior color is Flaxen.
BRING BACK HYBRID V8’s (they’re cooler than 4 cylinders)
Facts, and the fuel economy numbers are pretty decent. 4cyls don't give you that big power feeling.
5:25 - you are not alone bro. Toy Story did a huge number on me as a kid.
This car is very well overdone! I have always been interested in long wheelbase vehicles. 🙂
Similar length to an Escalade ESV.
4:41 that's the ACC distance button because the Parking Sensors button is the one you said on 5:40
Looks like a Avalon!! I might get one Zack.
Can you please do a review of 2014 LS600hL
i just bought a 2008 model on the first of this month for just under 15k. For anyone interested in buying these I would most definitely recommend it. This car is a total sleeper. The only thing I hate about it is that these has a common air suspension issue and most people do the conversion strut kit which sucks cause I have to pay to get the OEM air suspension back but for the price and what I'm getting I cant complain. Mines also have 260,000 miles and drives like new. Maintnance shouldn't be too costly but ill see later on during the months, I'm basing it off how much it was for my old ls430. The good thing about this is that you can get a portion of the parts from the 460. Also for a vehicle this size I get great mpg
Between your 600 and 430 which has the smoother and quieter ride? And do you know what all has been replaced/repaired on your car?
@@Mabeylater293 I’m going to say the ls430 for smoother ride for now only because the previous owner of the 600 did a conversion strut kit removing the air suspension. I think the 600 would be a lot smoother if it had the air suspension which is what I plan on converting back to. Besides that the previous owner hasn’t bought or replaced any parts.
@@SirYachtyow many miles does yours have? Did your ls430 have the air suspension?
@@SirYachtydang man that sucks... I've got the air suspension, and I can't justify buying a car like this & not keeping it bagged. I can safely say an LS600hL Executive is quieter & smoother than an LS430UL without any question in my mind.
Glad you're enjoying yours otherwise! So far I've beat an MT82 Coyote & a pre-racelift W204 C63 AMG. The performance figures are very deceiving. 5.4s to 60 but less than 3s for 50-75, which is nuts.
beautiful and subtle luxury sedan. I love Lexuses
Great video
What more could I add. This car looks amazing, it drives good. It's obviously reliable at over 260,000 miles. Yet still I would probably choose a base LS430 or LS460 over this car. Price is not the issue this model and year Lexus I see them all the time for sale and they are truly bargain prices and worth the cost. I've seen these going for under $20k. It's got everything I could want but it's just not for me. Whoever the original owner was probably enjoyed it for quite a long time. I probably would even settle for a 2013 Lexus ES 350. Another good review and a great used car for anyone looking for a good looking good performing luxury sedan for a good price. 👍🏼🤩
I remember my first experience with the Ls600 was in test drive unlimited, man that thing was beast in races
Yup! I've beat an MT82 Coyote Mustang & trailed only a bit behind a 10R80 Coyote Mustang in roll races.
You should review the 2013-2017 ls460. I got me a 14 and its an awesome car
You forgot to show the refrigerator under the center armrest where the remotes are in the Execution Package II. Executive package I is bench seat with refrigerator where the dvd and headphones are at. After 2012 no more refrigerator in any ls600h
Wait, I thought the refrigerator was in the back and got replaced with the headphones, you're telling me the rear center console storage is still a cool box?
@@Nathan_Jay yep. Lexus engineered TWO different cool box refrigerators for the LS!
@@CarPediaShowokay okay, I gotta test this out then 😂
@@CarPediaShowcan confirm, definitely is a cooler!
Nice Supra! Looks like an 86.5-88 non turbo, non-sport package
Love it👌
Between this and the ls430 which is: quieter and smoother? Thx.
This, no doubt. The 3UZ is a quieter engine because it doesn't have D4-S, but the eCVT & superior air suspension more than make up for it. There's so much sound insulation in places I wouldn't even imagine, I found a solid layer between the transmission tunnel & the center console panel. Overall it's a much better car than an LS430, and that's reflected in the cost difference.
You should review a 2011 or 12 Avalon.
Ok
For a 2011 Lexus at over 2k miles, this car is Beautiful! This looks way better than the ugly hour glass grille modern Lexus nowadays!
thank you!
$11k for a headliner sounds straight up like a dealership price.
I could buy enough suede and labour to cover that entire Lexus head to toe in suede
But could you get it direct from Saint Laurent?
@@Nathan_Jay is that where it's actually from?
@@gureno19Yes, Lexus used Saint Laurent's Ecsaine for the headliner. Basically a really fancy Alcantara, and it feels like eleven grand 🤣 the actual headliner from Lexus is like $6-7K and the install is quoted at well over 20 hours.
@@Nathan_Jay makes me want it more now 🤣🤌
looks like a nice car. i like AWD.
Me too. Torsen center diff but front & rear open diffs. I'm looking at getting an F-Sport Torsen LSD for the rear & a custom True Trac LSD for the front.
Can a 2011 S -class or 7 series still run?
A few of em, but not to the same extent as this.
THIS CAR IS BEAUTIFUL BEAUTIFUL SEDAN STRONG SEDAN
Just got an 08’ with every option excluding the executive with 189k miles for $9.5K. Loving it so far, but the typical front control arms are ready to blow. Those are the weakest link. Amazing car so far minus that!
Post it up! I'm glad the one I found had the control arms & air struts replaced in 2020.
So nice! It looks like some parts of the suspension we’re replaced in 2017. But that is the big worry! I will get a video up on my channel at some point. Just getting all the little things taken care of before.
This is literally my dream car. Like, no joke.
Hopefully you'll be able enough to find one for sale and buy it!
@@Nathan_Jay Thanks! I hope yours continues to bring you joy!
@@radudeATLthank you! So far I've lowered it using a piggyback controller & I'm going in for tint next month. Got a ways to go before she's show ready
What a boss car!
Thank you!
@@brianeugeneleeyup, luckily I went pre-2013 & avoided it…although I’ll still be swapping out the radio.
@@brianeugeneleeremote touch? What is that?
What is the average insurance cost for this car?
I pay $88.25/mo for full coverage with a $250 deductible on collision & comprehensive.
@@Nathan_Jay Cool, thanks!
Price?
Sticker in November 2010 was $130,605.
I feel like Lexus should come out with a ultra luxury brand of itself. Like Mercedes has Maybach…..
They kinda did. Maybach was not often a completely different car. Look at the Maybach 680. It's a fancy S580. The LS600hL Executive is the same thing, a fancy LS460L. LX600 also has an Ultra Luxury package. I just think Lexus doesn't do a great job anymore.
@@Nathan_Jay Yes I agree with you. Lexus doesn’t do a good job anymore.
@@summerfalls1998yup. After this generation I'd buy an A8L with the EA824. BUT I found this to be more my car and went for it.
@@summerfalls1998Mr. Akio toyoda is ruining them with purposefully loud engines, rough suspensions and cramped interiors under the STUPIDITY of “”sporty” no more boring cars”.
My dad has 7500 bucks cause a lady totaled his last car cause she was texting, oh man am I trying to convince him to pick a regular 08 LS460 (none of the hybrid stuff) for like 6 grand you can totaly get a clean one
If you're going pre-2010, I'd avoid the 460s. Less reliable in general. You might only pay $6K but you'll spend that much in fixing deferred maintenance in the first year.
Is this car still on sale?
No because I've been driving it for the past 5 months 🤣
What do u like best about it?
@@Mabeylater293honestly the fact that I'm an aircraft mechanic by trade and this car is like a jet in smoothness, seating, interior, and acceleration. It just feels right.
This generation of LS is the most common big luxury sedan I see. I never see anything from the Germans. I don't understand how because the sales should mean I see more German stuff.
Driving around, I want you to find an LS600hL on the road. Less than 10,000 were made across all model years (07-17), and the Executives were around 1% of that number. In 2011, only 7 of these were made, as they were all special ordered. If you find an Executive, post a picture or video! You may never see one again.
Looks like a Avalon
is thata supra 😱
First!
2 bad its so ugly..LS430 is the last good looking lexus sedan
The LS430 can't hold a candle to this in person. Still a beautiful car.
That model - the 2010 - 2012 is one of the rarest cars in the world. Try finding one let alone the 4 seater version. Ive been looking 10 freaking years for one worldwide! Alas I have 2 x 2009 4 seaters and a 2005 430. Pure bliss. Just bought my latest 2009 with 90K kms. or 56k mles. Oh happy happy days. And sport mode changes gear shifts too.
Looks like an Avalon
The Avalon is the poor man's LS. (Source: I owned 2 Avalons)
