@@Nathan_Jay Bro, you dont know whats wrong with it yet. 260k miles? And you buy a hybrid? You better checked that battery life, the tranny and the air suspensions. Not all Lexus will do 500k miles with regular maintenance only.

Woohoo, I spend a $100k car but I'll be carefull to buy one that depreciates 5% less. Cant have it losing $90K instead of $88k in a decade or so.
Comparitivly speaking, very true. The tire pressure warning was the earliest models indicator on the screen but you can see that warning regularly on brand new cars. Never compare a Lexus to mercedes or BMW because if you were to keep either of those on the road for the same amount of time you would have to spend THOUSANDS of dollars more just on maintenance and mechanical failures after similar mileages. Lexus wins overall cost of ownership and piece of mind while driving hands down.
My theory for why Lexus have so little headroom is because all the Japanese engineers who tested them didn't think about the average height in the West.

I just bought the exact same car. I paid 10.5k. I am loving it. I have a few problems but I've fixed most of them already. I have the "sticky dash" but I found something online to fix it. This is the most powerful car I've ever owned. To me it doesn't really drive like a luxury car. It kind of rumbles when I step on the gas. It had quite a bit of road noise too. @@dangrimes5078 It should drive like a luxury car. Check your distributer, plug wires and plugs as well as your entire airflow system. What, lol, theres nothing art deco about that. Thats traditional japanese styling ques meshed up in a very baroque layout. Floating elements, visually overstyled, bulky and heavy looking. Its been Merc's formula since forever. Just look at the old CL for example. Its Lexus once more getting "inspired" by those stuttgard guys they love so much but this time masking it a little better with all the small japanese motifs. Acura and Infiniti did a lot of a better job in creating a more unique and "japanese" interiors. Especially Infiniti with their slim, cascading elements like in the M or the Q45. The open space cabin as if trying to get away from the passengers and the sharp plastic highlights that cover the trim, console and other control elements are also typically japanese. But overall its the layout. Japanese houses and furniture have always been slim, weightless and very open. In a way, minimalist.

Fantastic video! About four years ago I stumbled on an older LS430 with only 60k miles on it for sale by the original elderly owner. I bought it for $6,800. If course, it was also silver. Everything worked on the car and it was so smooth and comfortable. The styling was even more boring than the LS460 and the interior design seemingly decades older, but it still drove like a new car. Alas, it was only RWD and I live in Northern MI. When someone offered me $11k for it I took the cash. But damn, what a bargain.
I can confirm that LS460 is a great car. Had one few years back. Bought it from insurance money after crashing my infinini M. I had rear wheel drive and i had big time problem with burning the tires in it🤣 Worth every penny. My car had soft closing and weird system checking if you pay attention to the road. This parking system i didn't trust. Drive was so relaxing that when i whisper to my wife actual speed we had at the moment ,she needed to convert it to km/h and then started to panic as we were doing 266km/h effortlessly, no shaking tires noise was minimum engine didn't scream from pain. In the city it drinks but on motorway its absolutely reasonable. When filled up (100£) easily did trip from London to snowdonia and back. Biggest problem was with parking space and boot space. This is over 5m long car and very small boot. Probably due to electric back seats. Now i have Audi A8 from 2012 for few years full spec and ride quality was better in Lexus. I also had S class in the same time as LS and S class had nothing on LS. When i will change the car, im going back to lexus LS.
Hi guys; I'm in the UK, Lexus are not a common sight here, but I don't know anyone who owns one who'd buy any other make. I have a 2006 GS300 SE-L with 141,000 miles on it and it still drives better than most new luxury cars. It's supremely comfortable, utterly reliable, almost completely silent and very, very fast! Surprisingly, the car is remarkably economical. The 3 litre V6 and 6 speed transmission waft me along at 75mph and delivers just over 40mpg! Around town, it's between 23 and 31 mpg. I've had a couple of earlier GS300's and 2 LS400's. As a car for long-distance and daily use, I think my current car is the most cost-effective; however, for serious long-distance cruising (and truly outstanding looks), I'd choose an LS400. I'm buying an LS430 next week, I'll let you know how it compares. Thoroughly enjoyed your video, both entertaining and informative. Thank you
My 2011 with 214,000 miles on it looks almost like this. The 2010-2012 ones got a better quality screen, better looking 10 spoke wheels, minor facelift, etc. Rides better than some of the s classes I drove and it. Doesn’t even have the air suspension. It’s a solid car
Had an LS430 2003 and to be honest this generation of LS always felt better to me than the LS460. Looked more luxurious, felt more unique and definitely didn’t looked like a Camry.
I bought an 08 Lexus LS460 with 110k miles for $13k a few years back after realizing what a bargain this car is. Only downside is the engine blew up within 3k miles, so not even 115k miles on the “ultra-reliable” Lexus and it was already toast. Either the previous owner skimped on maintenance (which the dealer told me she didn’t), or these things aren’t as reliable as they’d appear… Just my two cents.
Then you lose your bargain. ~09s are basically hte same exact car and you don't have ot deal with the trash infotainment. or get a 10+ for a refreshed model.

I honestly don’t give a damn about Lexus looking “outdated” infotainment-wise, compared to s class. All Mercedes cars have interiors reminiscent of a brothel, with all these colorful flashing leds.
But it is a big problem, competitors have much better infotainment, if you paying 140k for a car with bad cameras and usability then that's tough because even cars a third the price have better usability and cameras. In the end your just paying for reliability and to me really good exterior. looks.

The fact that you can get an LS for $11k is incredible. The design of the 08 LS is so classy and modern that it doesn’t look dated at all.
Definitely looks dated, old timer
Definitely worth the money the reliability is awesome on these cars. But it depends on how many miles the Lexus has. It’ll definitely have well over 100k miles on it for 11 grand. Anything under will run close to 20-30

It should drive like a luxury car.
Check your distributer, plug wires and plugs as well as your entire airflow system. It should be whisper quiet at idle and if it is consistently loud it is most likely an airflow issue--evacuator or inflow (I'm assuming you've inspected the muffler for holes). Always check the distributor and electrical though because it's usually the easiest to check and a very common point of failure.

@@konliner9286 I think the design of the Tesla is very bland indeed, but people are not seeing that at the moment, they are just interested in the power and tech and of course the cool factor of driving a Tesla.

I've had a couple of earlier GS300's and 2 LS400's. Either the previous owner skimped on maintenance (which the dealer told me she didn’t), or these things aren’t as reliable as they’d appear… Just my two cents.
Go for a 2017. Less offensive styling, cheaper than a new one, and the old school V8.
Then you lose your bargain. ~09s are basically hte same exact car and you don't have ot deal with the trash infotainment. or get a 10+ for a refreshed model.
@@emeraldages the 16s and 17s are still a bargain by most accounts. Unless you’re legit trying to spend 10 grand.
I’ll take a g90
"This is charmander and this is charizard" love that comparison 😆👍🏾
Edit: that silver spoon bit deserves an edit 😂😂😂
I have a 08’ Ls600hL and my car still turns heads til this day. Nobody wants to sit up front with me because all of the fun is in the back 😂 They love the fold out table, Having their own control station and the reclining seats with the full back massage feature. The entertainment system is premium at it finest. You actually feel like you’re at the movies when watching one it’s great 😃
The ls600hl imo was the pinnacle of the LS sedan. Sad that they killed it. They could have made it more attainable
They are rare, first time I seen one , was when Ben affleck was constantly shown getting in and out of his.
Would much rather have the 460 or 570. The batteries on the 600h lasts until about 200000 km and then they have to be changed for 10 grand. You can buy a lot of fuel for 10 grand
@@Timoastra yeah true. But you have to admit. The gauge cluster in the 2012 ls600hl is so damn cool
@@naveenthemachine Absolutely. Interior wise most LS600h are better specced but, besides the battery cost, i would rather have a traditional V8 and automatic rather then the CVT from the 600h.
@@Timoastra where did you get those numbers ? My ls600 has 220k miles and battery test @69% original capcity. Also battery replacement is far less than quoted. Dealership replacement cost is closer to $7k and they can be refurbished similar to prius packs. Granted it still seems like a high price until you consider the 600 will make that up in fuel savings, brake pads, longer oil change intervals, and never having to pay for a starter replacement.😁
Love how he says "it has back up camera" while imitating a manual reverse gear in an auto car to signify "back up"...thomas is all old school
The LS is superior to competition....I went with 2012 LS 460 over bmw 528 and 750.. I actually had to read owners manual it has lots of hidden features...that you will love to use like parking assistance and adjustable height on air suspension
I've watched every 1of your videos and you guys are awesome super funny and entertaining I say it's the best car show out there!! And then car wow comes in second with stradman!
Loved my 08 LS460! It had 183k miles..it needed suspension work and the transmission was starting to get iffy...was a damn good car tho. Traded it in for a 2018 Camry XSE V6.
The 2017 LS460 AWD V8 w/ air suspension, tan interior/greyish wood trim, and the Mark Levinson sound system is my "practical" dream daily. Understandably, these things are expensive to fix, but it's eons better than anything being released today besides a Rolls Royce in my opinion.
In the end your just paying for reliability and to me really good exterior. looks.
@@yashmann are you even driving this car?
@@hamsterbrigade nah but I'm saying that the tech should be up to the level of the competition if your gonna spend that much. Like u can get a 3 series with 360 cameras and the quality of them is really good. If the tech isn't up there they shouldn't charge that much. But to me the car looks really really good.
agree.. i have an older jeep and i have aftermarket 10in apple car play touch screen in it. Only paid $300.00 and works fine. if people worried bout older cars and new tech there's actually a huge aftermarket stuff for alot of car to get there information stuff updated if ya want.
You complain about the LEDs looking like a brothel.. when you can turn it off Lls duh. You can turn off the bad infotainment on the Lexus
I have a 2011 LS460, she’s a beautiful beast 😌
Same, I hate mine though. It’s not as quiet as they said it’s supposed to be
lucky
@@kevinduckett4742 how come?
This was a very good insightful video. I like how you both discuss the contrast between both model years.
The “Get In” Helmet! Love the throwback!
